This case, the black 900, is spectacular. It's dead silent
with two hard drives, 3 SSDs, an NVME stick, 3 fans,
and an aggressive air CPU cooler for an i7 13 gen. It's solid, spacious,
and the front ports work well. It comes with two 5.25 inch
bays - would have preferred three. But this is a first
class, well-built case, a superb value.

3.0 out of 5 starsPlastic becomes brittle, top airflow sub-par
Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2021
I bought this case in March 2018 with the plan of custom watercooling. The initial install and build quality was as i expected for a case of this price point. After 3 years the plastic is so brittle I so much as try to removed one of the hard drive plastic covers it explodes into plastic shards. The front clips for the front panel have all token bad enough the front panel will not light up with the contacts pins due to insufficient pressure. The power supply access panel is also missing 80% of its tabs due to brittle plastic. I’ve had to tape of all the extra fan grills not in use and also taped gaps/holes not in use. All chasing better airflow for my top radiator. About a year ago I resorted to bending the top fins to allow a larger gap for the top radiator exhaust. Before all my “mods” I was idling at around 43c on water…. Since then and no front panel I’ve gotten down to 28-30c… at idle mind you. I had cpu temps as high as 80c+ before moving now it sits at around 55-62c depending on load at full usage. Due to how much of the plastic tabs and case peices have broken and the expectation of breaking more peices as I need to remove a lot of the panels to do fluid flushes for my watercooling setup; I’m looking to go with a different company for my next case. For air cooling where you don’t need to take apart the case nearly as often this case is great to look at. For watercooling I would and can not recommend for longevity. What once was a beautiful setup is now an embarrassment of my hard work and investment.

Current setup:
Ryzen 5800x (originally a ryzen 2700x)
Asus strix x470-f
32gb Corsair vengeance rgb 3200mhz ram
Evga ftw3 3080 ti (originally picture FE 2080 ti)
Evga 1200w g3 power supply
Cable mod cables
Ekwb 2 ea 360mm radiators, res/pump combo, monoblock, and gpu block
6 ea Noctua cpp 2000 rpm 120mm fans
Hdd/m.2s are not important to list but I’ve for 7th of storage total in this system

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Beast" wallops the words flexibility and spaciousness

The beast has so much room that even fat fingered, eye glass wearing guy like me could get in there and perform detailed cable management. The motherboard tray slides out of its rail so you can mount your gear outside the case and slide it all back in with ease. The same goes with the radiator attachment at the top. I've mounted 5 140 mm fans and 3 120 mm radiator fans. I still have room for another 3 120 mm fans. (and I've just ordered the BQ Light Wings). The case has noise dampening panels if you want quiet or mesh panels for extreme air flow. It's big and sturdy. The case quick start guide is garbage but then again, all Be Quiet manuals are. There are too many features to highlight in a short review. It's expensive but it will really show off your build.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Case, Lots of Options
Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2023

Great case. Plenty of room for the very thick Arctic Freezer II 360 AIO which is a huge plus. The case comes with 2 140 fans on the front and 1 in the back. You can add another 140 so long as you don't use the 5.25" drive bay. I wanted to use it, so was limited to adding an additional 120mm fan in the front which just barely fit. I like the 5.25 drive bay option and is one of the reasons I chose this case. I opted for a hot swap drive bay but would have liked a second for an optical drive. Oh well.

You'll notice the GPU support isn't covering the cable as intended. I think the support would bend the cable too hard and perhaps break connections. I'm not willing to take that chance. Also, a GPU with 3 fans doesn't provide many options for placement. I will be buying a different GPU support and removing the provide support, which is a shame because the Be Quiet support looks better. .

There are so many options with this case that it almost seems like a waste. I have lots of pieces that are not going to be used, and these add to the cost. But I still chose this case so perhaps they have the right price/options blend.

Summary: a large, well-constructed case with options for every build type. Would have liked a gromet on the back of the case, a reset button on the front and some additional SSD mounting options, but still well worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Case I've Ever Owned - 1 Caveat
Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2024
Style: Dark Base Pro 901 BlackVerified Purchase
PROS
The case is incredibly modular.
1) You can choose to have a mesh/grate front or a sleek aluminum panel. The same is true for the top - you can have sound dampening panels or open mesh. So, you control noise levels and airflow.
2) Every side of the case can be easily removed to work in it. You can get down to little more than the frame.
3) The side vent can be configured to be closed or open. And, you can have storage drives there or fans. HOWEVER, it does require you to choose between storage drives or fans in that side vent location. I would've liked if you could mix and match.
4) The motherboard and PCI slots is one big removable unit, making installing parts to MB as easy as an open bench. It's so wonderful!

The case provides great cable hiding covers next to motherboard. It has a GPU support bracket that also hides the power cables. It's beautiful.

The case has thicker than normal cable management section (though not huge), providing you good space to run cables.

In cooling-centric config (I haven't tried sound blocking setup), the airflow is great and everything stays very cool. GPU idles in mid 20C. My GPU will auto-overclock about 200-300MHz at 100% before hitting thermal throttling. AMD 5950x idles in mid 40C with Ice Giant Pro Siphon. This is all aircooled. I can encode long video with all 16 cores running at 4.5GHz, and it stays under 70C.

The case has a wireless phone charger on top, and I just think that's cool.

The case still supports 5.25" bay. This is a nice option that is elegantly hidden.

ONE OF THE BEST FEATURES: The case has contacts built into the case frame that align with pins on the removable top and removable front. So, you can just connect your fans to the front and top pieces with those pieces completely separated from the case, making install a breeze. Once you attach the front and top back to the case, the pins meet the contacts and all those contacts feed into a single fan header that you just plug into your motherboard. This greatly reduces the amount of wiring that you have running everywhere.

CON
(Please read all - I found a solution for me though it looks really bad at first) I had a severe issue where my GPU (EVGA 3080Ti FTW3 ULTRA), motherboard (X570 Steel Legend), and case combination prevent me from plugging in my displayport cables unless I don't screw in my GPU and let it sag. Basically, the displayport slots in the GPU were elevated so high that the cables were blocked by the case. I contacted "be quiet!" support and got a QUICK reply from them. They said 1 other person in all of USA had reported this issue, and they had no known workaround. So, they suggested I return and replace. I did that and had the same problem on the next case that was sent (maybe it was a bad batch from the same plant and distribution center). Anyway, I found a low profile, ultra thin displayport cable on Amazon that actually squeezed in and I'm all good now. I'm linking to that displayport cable below in case anyone reading this has same issue.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCL3RMWF

I absolutely recommend the case. It's looks great complimented with "be quiet!" Lightwings in the front and on the side.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best case I've ever bought.
Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2018

Seriously, this is probably the highest quality case I've ever used. It's worth every penny. Very high build quality, Good feature set. Good cooling profile. Aesthetically beautiful especially when combined with RBG studded gear. It goes very well with ThermalTake's AIO CPU Cooler and G.Skillz TridentZ RBG Ram.

If you've never built a computer before, and are considering this case, I recommend it highly. It's very easy to build in, it comes with a very nice feature on the top of the case. (Where you connect either exhaust fans, or a cooling radiator, it has a "Panel" that slides out, allowing you to install the fans outside of the case, then you simply slide the panel with the fans installed back in. A hundred times easier than trying to install fans directly into the case, or having to remove a bunch of panels to install them.

If you have built computers before, you'll probably appreciate the cable management system, the included fan/RGB controller, the neatness of PSU shroud (Which also allows for a single 140/120mm intake fan on the shroud it'self.) Once it's put together it's extremely clean looking. It also was designed well, and you can easily fit a 360mm Radiator in the front while still using the PSU Shroud, and an intake fan on the bottom.

It also comes with 2 full slide-out Air Filters. No tools required to remove and clean them either. Everything was extremely well thought out.

There is only one or two things that could be improved on, honestly.. But they aren't a big deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and quiet which is what I wanted

Love the product for my usage and it is quiet. I don't really play games but wanted a build that would last a number of years plus a quiet case with expansion capabilities. Currently running a x570 MB, AMD 3700, 32gig of memory, x570 nvida graphics, 4 sata 7200rpm 2tb (mirrored). C source compiles (full build) the fans are still running pretty much at base speed (case is silent). Flight simulator 2020 left on auto fans are still extremely quiet, manual setting of turbo boost, you can hear the fans but the sound produced is still way below any other case other case I have ever heard. My wife likes it so that is a testament in itself!. Cable management is great, lots room, no knuckle scratches, quality build. Manual could be a little better, with more exploded views and a bit more explanation but after studying it for a bit before attempted the full install it became clear. Still the manual need improvement.

Really great case. Good amount of space. Great support for full size E-ATX and smaller E-ATX boards (you can move the cable shroud around). One of the few cases that still has a 5.25" bay if you're into that. Lots of places to stick radiators.

If I had to complain about something, I wish it was just a tiny bit taller, so that the side radiator mount could be a bit more accommodating of radiators with a lot of overhang. It's fine for 360mm AIOs, but a lot of custom 360s are actually 400mm+, and might not fit nicely in there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks and Works Great and so Easy to build a PC

The title of my review says it all. Now, be aware that this is one big and heavy case, an overkill for most builds even with giant video cards. I needed a DVD drive and several 3.5inch HDs, so this was my solution. If there was anything to complain about, I'm not keen on the touch sensitive control panel as it is working kind of erratically (i.e., I have to push on 'buttons' a few times before they register) - on the other hand, maybe that's not so bad since I don't want to change the settings that easily. The case has a very good airflow even with the closed front panel. I've been running an RTX 3080 slightly OC-ed, and it stayed well below the 80C mark as long as I made the RTX 3080 fan control curve more aggressive (i.e., the stock config was letting the video card go up to 83C-85C). Overall, it's one amazing PC case.
