How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good optic with one problem for me.

I really wanted to like this monocular. I has good clear sharp viewing and in a super small light weight package. The problem I had is the eye relief was too short for use whit my glasses on. I could not see the full view until I took off glasses.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay

Optics seem slightly better than an older pair of binoculars that cost about half as much some years ago. The image quality is more of what I would have expected from the less expensive Nature Trek monocular. Clarity did improve some upon cleaning the eye lens. To be fair, have nothing else to compare it to or to determine if there's a defect.

Questo monocolo della Hawke ha ottime lenti,un 10x25 molto luminoso e leggero, ben costruito..gli unici difettisono la messa a fuoco duretta,e il prezzo..con la metà ho trovato monocoli della stessa qualità..

5.0 out of 5 stars Gute Bildqualität zum fairen Preis in handlicher Form

5.0 out of 5 stars Gutes Monokular
Reviewed in Germany on August 30, 2019

3.0 out of 5 stars too small
Reviewed in Germany on November 2, 2023

Too small for my eye, impossible to use by one hand due to focusing design, optics are not that good, its more a toy than a handy instrument. For comparison Nikon optics are much more lively picture then Hawk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Likley good enough for most looking for a compact fog-free 25mm magnifying tube

Bought it because I was interested in the image quality difference to my Opticron T4 Trailfinder 10x25 (recommended budget choice as it cost half of Hawke ED line). Hawke Endurance ED 8 or 10x25 (I owned both 10x from Amazon for 85£ and 8x from a local shop for 79£) is a better-protected product with its rubber coating and a bit more suitable for use with glasses even when in both cases you need to press against glasses at least with a larger head to see the whole exit pupil image. Focusing is stiff on both but on Hawke can be done with one hand, while on Opticron not so much, through the focusing mechanism is limited by the body, so you won't overturn it as I managed on faulty Opticron Mono WP 5x30 where focusing wheel was likely not properly assembled, thus you are less likely to overturn it by applying brute force, though these monoculars tend to require focus them only once as explained later due to which lower quality focusing mechanism did not matter that much. As for picture quality itself, while the picture was clear as in Opticron T4 if not even better toward the edges unlike what you find on cheap Chinese monoculars under 10£, well I was not able to easily see chromatic aberration (rainbow effect around edges of objects like leaves on trees) in high contrast scenes which was still slightly present on Opticron Trailfinder T4 10x25 costing roughly half the price, these small monoculars tend to have everything in focus, so the rise of chromatic aberration near the edges of the optics is not anywhere as noticeable than on larger 8x32 monoculars like Maven CM1 or Vertex Recce Pro HD which have some depth of field despite having superior optics, while on Hawke Endurance ED 8x25 is both depth of field and chromatic aberration hard to find. Lack of depth of field also means that unlike most of the larger monoculars and binoculars, you will not need to constantly refocus when changing viewing distance, as the infinite focus starts in these smaller pieces on far closer distances. Thus Hawke Endurance ED line with 8 or 10 times magnification in 25mm objective lens diameter may be your ideal low chromatic aberration affordable choice monocular to quickly pull from a belt pouch and check things without the need to fiddle much with focus, or correct interpupillary distance setting as you would need after grabbing most of the binoculars from a carry case. This process can be further speeded up by taking off the eye relief dust cover as it's unlike optics dust cover on the opposite side not optionally connected to a monocular, and instead putting your monocular into a belt pouch with eye relief pointing down, thus using the bottom of the belt pouch as a dust cover you won't loose as easily while allowing faster monocular readiness state.
One thing in which this monocular did not excel at all is low-light performance, comparison with my Maven CM1 8x32 ED or Recce Pro HD 8x32 monoculars costing several times more is not even worth mentioning, far less is trying to bother to compare small monoculars with full size 7x50 marine monoculars like affordable Hawke Endurance ED 7x50 Marine I bought from a local shop for 229£ (current high-end marine binoculars cost 1000£+) which you can use in the middle of the night and expect to see more than just grainy blur if there is sufficient starlight or visible moon, affordable full-size marine monoculars or Hawke's Endurance ED 7x42 Marine monocular are simply a far better choice for getting decent low light performance on the budget then what you get even from most expensive compact monoculars produced today. The usability of 25mm monoculars of standard magnification ends when there is still some light in the sky even though the sun may be already behind horizont, alternatively, there is some street lamp around, in which case you may see image dimmer than with your own eyes but it will be at least in focus and larger, thus you can find some low light conditions when even such small monocular can be useful, otherwise look for at least 30mm diameter or larger...

sehr klein, für unterwegs sicherlich gut, ging zurück, da für Brillenträger dann der Bildausschnitt einfach zu klein wird.
