Me: Gamer for years and an experienced reviewer. I will update this review as I discover new things.

Below I highlight the pros and cons of this game, but before getting into it I want to point out that I think a lot of reviews are overly harsh (I think there's a lot of leftover backlash from Mass Effect Andromeda still going around). This game needs work, but I think it has huge potential and while I am not a fan of games as service, I want to see this game developed more. Everyone keeps saying that the Anthem team will get gutted to support Apex Legends, which might become a self-fulfilling prophecy if people keep bashing Anthem.

Pros:
Awesome flight mechanics
Cool idea
Satisfying combat
Pretty decent character acting and story, though not Witcher 3 level

Cons:
Some connection issues (so far this has only cost me a handful of epic embers so its not a huge issue, but I'll be pissed if this costs me anything Mastercraft)
Way too many load screens (I don't think they are that long, there are just too many of them)
Surprising lack of customizable armor options
The lack of a way to communicate with other players sucks
The lack of a way to boot players from expeditions sucks
The lack of a way to vote/restart during an expedition sucks
The lack of a way to look up challenge fulfillment status in the pause menu sucks
The lack of a way to mark locations on the map or get guidance to locations sucks
The fact that striders never move is disappointing
The run speed in fort Tarsis needs to be faster

I waited years to get this because it was dismissed as "trash", its not, its somewhat similar to destiny, except it has matchmaking with bungee still has not fixed even after destiny 1, It plays like mass effect and destiny and there is random loot system, Its fun, It different and it has a lot of potential, its sad everyone bashes it because honestly so far its been awesome. Bottom line, everyone's a critic, listen to your own opinion.

Superrrrr frustrating experience. I waited until it was 30 bucks and still felt like I paid way more than I should’ve. I love BioWare so I want to make it seem better but it’s just a no. The gameplay is actually fun but it’s literally everything else that gets in the way. Literally. And I waited for all the “updates”. Load times are terrible. how often you’re kicked out and sent to the main menu is terrible. The game really implies that you play with other people for a better experience but when I play with a friend I never see the story cut scenes but he does. The story isn’t all that interesting to begin with but it was interesting enough for me to want to at least finish it. Until I missed 3 vital cut scenes in a row. It killed my spirits and I haven’t played since. Honestly don’t waste your time.

I have for PS4 and I'm loving it. I've been playing with the Storm class and I can't get enough. I've only put in about 7 hours but I think it's fantastic and I'm not sure why it's getting such bad reviews. The controls when flying took some getting used to but that was expected and now it's a blast.

I love this game. It’s super fun - you feel like iron man. The story is great and the gameplay is amazing. Still a solid player base, and you can’t beat the price! If you are reading this, you should buy this game.

Ok, so, I rolled the dice. A friend of mine told me how much he loves this game. With that endorsement, I took the chance, and I bought it. I am dangerously close to really regretting it.

Before buying it, this is what I knew:
- Made by Bioware (Mass Effect fame) and published by EA (if the video game industry had a satan, it would be EA)
- Third person
- Multiplayer is encouraged, but not required
- Stunning visuals, and enrapturing story
- A fun, intuitive game

Unfortunately, upon first play, those "facts" turned out to be alternative facts, here's a more accurate list of things that this game is:
- Made by Bioware (Mass Effect Andromeda disaster) and EA (satan), and then published by EA (once again, satan)
- Third person in most instances, but is inexplicably in "first person" in the town, but it's slow, muddy, and time consuming to do anything there
- Multiplayer is required, so much so that you find out real quick there's a glaring omission from the material. They've neglected to put a big logo on it that says "You can absolutely not ever play this game for any period of time without a Playstation Plus subscription". I should have known better, sure, but I have stopped playing multiplayer games, because people are awful, and I play games to unwind, not get abused. There is very VERY limited instances in which you can play by yourself.
- The visuals are lackluster. The graphic design is great, the implementation is terrible. It's like playing a AAA game, but streamed through YouTube at 720p. The whole thing looks extremely over compressed. The darks are full of artifacts, everything is just dull. Now, I don't have a 65" 4K HDR TV and a PS4 Pro just because I like labels, I have them because I want my content to do what it says it can, and Anthem does not deliver on this at all.
- It might eventually be fun, and I am going to give it that chance, but the controls and environment are not very intuitive at all.

It has potential. But...That's a statement I should be saying about a game I was Beta testing. This is game was fully released, but unfinished. The complaints about the loading screens are not exaggerating. Easily 30% of your time in the game is dedicated solely to loading screens, and that's probably a low estimate. I thought it was the same kind of things that people complained about in Destiny, but it's far worse here.

The story and lore to this game is hard to follow, at best. It looks like they are going the Destiny 1 tactic of giving you most of the lore and story with voluntary reading, but storytelling is a huge part of why people game.

I've already opened the game, and played it, so there's no going back now, but I am definitely not going to touching any DLC they release until they give me my money's worth with this game before then.
