this is without a doubt the best remastering of this record i have heard on cd since the japan SHM lp replica sleeves that came out a few years back, this set comes in a hard sturdy box with original lp replication, this also comes with a fantastic awesome sounding 180 g lp in stereo sound, the rough mixes sound fantastic and the few live songs from copenhagan sound fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love the live version of texas radio & the big beat, also the regular album cd edition was remastered as good if not better then the japan ones i mentioned before!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know they seem to be getting a bit out of hand w/ 50th ann box set editions but this one is really really worth it if you are a BIG doors fan. i can promise you will not be sorry if you buy this, of the 50th ann editions i got recently that where worth every penny was the crazy world of authur brown 50th ann box set & the kinks village green 50th ann box set, this one goes right up there with those two...................................now on to soft parade this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful. This is advertised as being the “50th Anniversary Edition”, which would entail bonus tracks. It does not. Still a wonderful album that belongs in any Doors fan’s collection. But fair warning.

I thought the sound of this release was good, nice packaging (prefer jewel box, but when an LP is included it's OK). The bonus disc gives a good flavor of where the Doors were in 1968 with the raw tracks and the live tracks.

Rhino remasters, cheap covers

Just ordered this album and several other re-releases of Doors album. Rhino/Elektra touts the 180 gram vinyl but they put squat into the album covers. Very cheap and flimsy. There's an extra sleeve inside that is unnecessary. Get rid of it and put the money into thicker album cover stock!
