Great coat at great price

This is a helluva coat. It's light but insulates well. It's the middle of a cold snap in Nebraska and wind chills can hit -20 below. This coat does an excellent job blocking the wind and keeps you from freezing. Don't get me wrong - you're not going to think you are in a sauna in such conditions but you won't be shivering. If you're exerting yourself - say, shoveling snow - pretty soon you won't feel the cold at all. Fit and construction are excellent and it's water and dog slobber repellent. Mobility is good and it's long enough to CYA and keep it from freezing ,too. Fantastic bang for the buck!

usually wear a large, got the x large to layer. the hood is trash. the way they fold the coat in the bag bends the hood bill. its connected with a short zipper, overly big so its a floppy mess and the reason for the rating. besides the hood its a nice coat for less than 50 that i bought for work. decent amount of pockets, pretty baggy at the waist so cinching the drawstring is a must, stops the wind, light but warm. i broke down a bunch of amazon boxes outside in 30 F with the wind making it feel like 25 and i was toasty, without the hood. havent tested it in rain, doubt itll last in a downpour. would have liked a 2 way zipper and a dump pocket on the inside but its a basic jacket. my go to winter coats are burton goretex.

I've lived in multiple cold locations. This coat is the warmest non restrictive one I've ever worn. Detachable hood is convenient for other headgear yet large enough to wear over headgear. The water resistant outer shell quickly beads up moisture to keep you dry. Sleeves have a thumb hole that allows for gloves to be worn without sleeves riding up and exposing wrists. Strongly reccomend. Sizing chart measures perfectly.

Just a couple of annoyances

Overall the jacket is pretty good. It is comfortable and keeps me warm. There are a few features I don't really like. My thumb always grabs the extra cuff. Maybe this could be good for some. I don't tend to use them so they kind of just get in the way. And the velcro on the right side always grabs the cuff so it is showing some pilling. There are pockets on the inside of the jacket, which is great, but the smaller zip pocket on the left side is really small. I usually put my cell in there since I am right handed. But it does not fit well partially because of the size of the pocket, and also because it kind of angles. I usually end up trying to zip the pocket a but but that just makes it harder to access. Finally, something about the neck is odd. For some reason the left side always wants to rest on my face.

Normally I don't like winter coats. They're too hot to drive in, too uncomfortable. They're too bulky and it's hard to move in them. But this jacket is so well thought out, I really look forward to wearing it.
First of all, the zipper is first-rate, it zips on the first try every time. It's got a perfect pocket on the chest for your phone. It's got a hand warmer built into it with a hole for your thumb. The hood is excellent (and removable). It has a brim to stop it from getting in your eyes. The coat also completely waterproof and water-tight. It's got adjustments on the waist and the sleeves to keep the jacket from intruding where it shouldn't. It's got plenty of storage space. The pockets are in the right spot if you want to put your hands in them and they're warm.
Best of all it's very warm. You could be outside for a long time and be fine. The wind won't bother you, the snow won't bother you. I think this coat is a bargain. I'm very happy I won't be freezing this winter!

I'm reading through these reviews and I feel I should add that my coat does not have a double zipper and it zips from the right side like a conventional coat. Perhaps they replaced the zipper on newer models or some of these reviews are for a different coat. My zipper is flawless. First time, every time. No jamming.

It's a nice warm parka with large zippered bottom pockets that are big enough even with gloves. I bought several of these parkas. It’s a parka because it is quite a bit longer than a regular coat. I like that is has a waterproof shell, cotton for warmth, and is machine-washable, although I haven’t tried washing yet. The first parka I purchased had mistakes, such as the chest zipper being only half the length it was supposed to be and the main zipper sliders being on the left side instead of on the right side as they are supposed to be on a man’s coat. But the subsequent purchases were all as they should be. The main zipper has an upper and lower slider. When unzipping, one has to pull the bottom slider down, then the top slider down, then pull up on the other side.

I do worry about the zipper for the hood but for how much I saved by not buying a name brand jacket, I can take it to a seamstress for a better zipper. Been snowshoeing, hiking, snowboarding in them. Great.
