This card is great. I finished my build about two weeks ago and I’m loving this setup. I’m gaming in 1440p pegged at 144hz in every game at ultra settings. My FPS counter often reads much higher, in the 300’s or even higher. The test results in the two pics included were run in Rainbow Six Siege at Ultra settings. Rainbow six siege does have some issues with graphical anomalies in the top left corner from time to time, but I’m fairly certain that’s an issue with that particular game since I’ve had a few other goofy hiccups in that game that aren’t related to the GPU. I’ve not experienced any issues with any other game/video. I’m running stock and clocking around 1800-1900 while sitting at a steady 76-79 degrees under load. Blower is running around 2000-2100rpm in game. It’s really not that loud, even without headphones on. If you’re planning to run this card stock as an average gamer, I’d say go for it. No need to wait for partner cards. I haven’t had any driver issues and wattman is user friendly. Benchmarks are all consistently showing fantastic performance and I believe this card will only get better with updated drivers and support. At $400 this is the best bang for your buck imo. I’ve included some pics, but they really don’t do it justice.

(Edit) I’ve been running my PC for about 3 weeks now and I’ve most definitely encountered some bugs. Mostly driver related, so I figured I’d post here and everywhere else I can think of to let people know what I’ve learned. If this can help anyone out, I’ll be happy. I was experiencing crashing about 30 minutes into games, artifacts in the top left corner (where the Radeon overlay is) of certain games, black screens and an overall stressful situation. I dove deep into it as much as I could, and even though I’m not an IT expert I was able to get my system stable and looking/performing great. So here’s what worked for me:

-Turned of enhanced sync.
-Changed the PCIe16 GPU slot on my x570 board from PCIe 4.0 to 3.0
-Clean Deleted drivers in safe mode and installed latest 19.7.5 drivers from AMD website. I also found some other unwelcome services like idle buddy running on my PC during all of this, so I went ahead and got rid of those too.
-Updated BIOS. Ihave a gigabyte x570 Elite board. Updated to version F4j
-Disabled RAM overclock XMP profile 1 in BIOS. (I’m not sure if this is GPU related, but I was wondering if my default memory overclock was unstable)

After going ahead and doing all of these things based on tons of online research I’m happy to say I haven’t crashed, noticed any artifacting or experienced any black screens or other issues. I’m not sure if one of these things fixed the issues, or a combination. I’m fairly certain that this is just a rough launch for these cards and once drivers are a little more mature we’ll see much less annoying issues, and maybe be able to you enhanced sync! I’m just happy I’m back to running 1440p pegged at the 144fps my monitor can display. This card really is great, it’s just experiencing some growing pains. If you’re thinking of RMAing, whatever you decide is you’re prerogative. But if you’re an AMD fan, or just love the performance to price ratio of the 5700xt, be patient and try to enjoy the troubleshooting. It’s part of owning a PC, or so I’m told. ;)

1.0 out of 5 starsGPU died within 12 hours.
Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2019
I had a rough time with the 5700xt. I have a corsair one which I have been upgrading so I was looking for a blower-style card that works in a vertical case. This GPU fit the bill perfectly, or so I thought. Installation into the machine wasn't that bad, but the installation of drivers was a nightmare and a half. I installed with old GPU drivers still on, so I quickly uninstalled old drivers and did a clean install. During the clean install, the computer crashed and wouldn't post to windows because the driver was bugged. I had to go into safe mode, use DDU and wipe AMD drivers clean, did a fresh install and saw everything was working. Proud of myself, I went to sleep because it was late at night and I couldn't do any more work.

Well, this morning, I turned my computer on, logged into windows, and the screen froze and went black. I tried for several hours again to get it to work. I tried using all the different video outputs and different combinations of wires. I ended up taking out the GPU, putting my old 1070 back in, uninstalling the 8 hours old AMD drives in safe mode again, placed the 5700 XT back in hoping to go into windows and reinstall the drivers. No-Port. I am convinced that this GPU is dead and it would be out of my reach to try and revive it. Let this be a cautionary tale for this GPU, others have similar issues with this thing that AMD absolutely has to fix. As for whether or not I'll stay with Team Red is another question, but the school year is fast approaching and I don't have much time to be going back and forth with GPUs until one works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price for performance
Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2019

I bought this to replace my trustworthy but now four year old R9 390 GPU.

So far, it has met or exceeded any expectations I've had for a $400 graphics card. It runs Battlefield V at 120+ FPS at 1440p on a mixture of medium-low settings. Personally, the higher level visual fidelity settings aren't worth the FPS penalties in a first person shooter. If you play single player games, than the highest settings might make more sense.

No issues with the drivers themselves. I always make sure to uninstall previous drivers using Driver Display Uninstaller from Wagnardsoft. It's free and easy to use and it removes all traces of previous drivers from both Nvidia and AMD.

I've run MSI Afterburner with my other GPUS for temperature and performance monitoring as well as custom fan curves, but the custom fan curve causings screen flashing on the 5700 XT. Instead, I set a custom curve in Wattman settings.

Speaking of fan and temps, the default fan curve is designed to run pretty quietly. As such, my GPU heated right up to 80-83C after 20-30 minutes of BFV with an ambient temperature of 75F/23C. Hence, I added a custom fan curve for the fans to ramp up once the GPU hits about 50C. This keeps the temps in the 60-70C range even after a few hours of gaming. A small caveat: the fan curve doesn't always load on startup. I've saved it as a profile and load it, if I notice the card getting too hot. Not a problem with the card, but the AMD software.

Of course, this is a blower style fan and it's much louder than other fan and cooling systems. I wear noise-cancelling headphones and can't hear the fan anyway. It kind of sounds like a turbo charger, to be honest. Obviously, if you have a roommate or significant other and game in your bedroom, it might be problematic.

The only other quirk - and this is a Radeon software issue with my PC configuration, as it did the same thing with my older AMD 390 GPU - is that ReLive (the streaming/recording software that is bundled with the Radeon Adrenalin driver suite) doesn't record or stream sound due to a conflict with Realtek sound drivers. It's a known issue, but doesn't seem to be any closer to getting fixed. I don't stream, but do like to record, so I use Streamlabs OBS for replays. Very little performance hit and the sound works.

Been waiting a long while for twice the performance of my r9 290 vapor-x, but it's finally here.

Lots of driver issues already, they get fixed, but annoying for now.

The blower is stupid loud tho, it doesn't bother me up to about 60%, but I bumped it to 100% just to see and, just wow. Don't do that. At normal fan speeds it seems to things around 80-85 under load. Toasty, but my r9 290 survived like 6 years pegged at 90c. I'm not worried.

Watch Gamers Nexus or something for a full rundown.

Quite a bit smaller than my old card, which is handy, and there's no actual tradeoff in temps for me, but presumably the third party designs will do better, because blowers are silly and awful. It's like they just want to leave something for third parties to do. I'd have preferred a Sapphire card, but not enough to wait for one and, may buy a kit later.

4.0 out of 5 stars Insanely Fast and Capable Card
Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2019

The media could not be loaded.
I have upgraded from GTX 1070 Hybrid and the difference is significant, but you can easily gather technical data and compare the existing card to the new one, so I'll just focus on a few points that I've seen come up in other reviews and hopefully help you decide if this is the right card for you.

5700 vs 5700X -- Unlike the AMD CPUs where you are paying $50 for the letter (and slighly better stock cooler which you will probably never use) the two variants of the GPU are in fact physically different. Both cards rely on the same Zen 2 architecture but the X variant has 4 more compute units, uses more power and comes clocked slightly higher as a result. You can expect about 15-20% faster performance versus the 5700 version. Is it worth $50 more? That's for you to decide.

There is also an Anniversary edition. Same as the 5700X just factory overclocked, has nice gold accents and comes in a pretty box. Meh...

CrossFire Support -- The 5700 series does not support CrossFire. Instead, it's now up to developers to decide how they program the software and whether or not they use the capabilities found in DirectX 12 to allow two cards to be recognized and used as one compute unit.

So, if you want the 5700X for the raw performance, consider buying two RX580 or RX590 and running them together to get similar performance. This could be a particularly attractive idea if you are not willing to wait for third party implementations of this card and dislike or distrust the reference card design. Or maybe you're going for a particular look or feel strongly about a particular brand. Price for a set of two cards would be compatible at $400, at least as of the time of this review.

Thermals -- I see a lot of complaints about the card running hot. It's a reference card. They all run hot. I have stress-tested this unit and barely breached 80c which isn't a problem. Sure, it runs hot, especially coming from a liquid-cooled and overclocked GTX 1070 which ran very cool, but it's not unreasonable.

I watched the frequency and the card boosted itself to 1900Mhz pretty much the entire time. I've been able to overclock to stable 2100Mhz to 2200 at about 1.35V just to see the limits. The card performed fine. It got up to 90-92c which is getting pretty close to the thermal limit. In the future, I will certainly water-cool it and see how it goes.

There is always some "silicone lottery" that pays into it, but the point is that if you have a well-placed fan configuration and your case is breathing easily then you should not see any heat-related issues. This card is designed to handle the heat it generates under load.

Performance -- This card performs very well. In fact, it might be one of the best performing cards dollar-for-dollar. Compatible Nvidia card would be the RTX 2070S with the 5700X being maybe even slightly faster and costing at least $150 less. It's also only about 10-15% slower than the RTX 2080S but costs almost half as much.

Compatibility -- You can expect some issues early on. That's pretty normal and AMD has been known to be less polished at launch when compared to Nvidia. I have not experienced any issues yet, but I am running this card on X570 motherboard in combination with Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. The motherboard sharing the same chipset family may have something to do with it. It kind of makes sense.

To sum up -- fantastic card, great performance (especially considering the cost). I would recommend it.

Update: Ran into issues with the card. It's unfortunate. See the attached video. I still recommend this card and definitely the chipset, but maybe avoid the reference design. This could be an early production unit. Who knows. The issue is definitely not heat-related. It's never gone above 80c which is not even close to the maximum operating temps. This issue is intermittent and started just a day ago.

Amazon's return policy and customers service are second to none. So, this one is going back and is being replaced by the non-reference model from XFX from Amazon. I hope this time it will be trouble-free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Price to performance is too strong, gotta go with Team Red this time around.

I decided to upgrade my old 1050 TI and thought long and hard on either the 5700 XT or the 2070 Super. For weeks I researched, weighed pros and cons, and even asked around for opinions... then AMD lowered their prices. With the 5700 XT at $450, it was a legitimately tough decision picking one of the two. Since dropping to $400 however, it makes little sense paying a $100 premium for a 2-5% performance bump. I had to go with the 5700 XT, and so far I have zero regrets.

Gaming has been great. I paired my new card with an LG 1440p, 144hz monitor. While I can't quite hit 144 fps on most games, I have been consistently getting to 100, which looks absolutely stunning in games. I'm more than happy with the performance.

Regarding some of the major complaints, I've actually have had very few issues with my card. Drivers haven't been as much of a problem as some people have made them out to be. The fan did ramp up once, and it was decently loud, but definitely not loud enough to be heard through my noise canceling headphones.

Some Random information.
There are a bunch of different brands selling this card, but the only difference is the packaging. Partner cards with custom cooling don't come until August, so unless you want a slick looking box (Sapphire's is the best imo) go ahead and order whichever one is in stock at the moment. If you've had success with a particular brand's customer service, that might also be a good reason to go with one over another (in case you have to do a return or something).

XFX says the card requires a minimum of 600 watts, but I've had zero issues running it on a 550 watt Bronze-rated EVGA power supply. I do only have one mechanical drive however (no CD drive), so my computer is less power hungry than the average PC.

This card doesn't come with any cables (which is normal), but it does include a 6-pin to dual Molex adapter, and an 8-pin to dual 6-pin adapter.

In closing, I would highly recommend this card to anyone that doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg for 1440p gaming. If you really don't like blowers and you must have dual or triple fan style, maybe wait for partner cards. I think the card is good enough to warrant a purchase now though and I'm more than happy with the looks and performance of mine.

Amazing value I've had no problems with heat like some others have said. I've now been using this card for around 4 months and there have been your standard sub-par AMD driver instability issues very infrequently, not nearly enough to become bothersome runs a tiny bit loud but with volume up at all on speakers or headphones its not noticeable, my CPU fan is louder.

I've been very impressed with the benchmarks on recent AAA releases. This card is one of the best cards for Red Dead Redemption 2, COD MW, Borderlands 3, and more. Obviously NVIDIA cards will still outperform this card in some games but this card keeps pace with the 2070 SUPER and the 1080ti in almost every game, outperforming the latter often and the former on occasion in games like Battlefield V.

Overall, I'd highly reccomend the 5700 XT, particularly this XFX version to anyone looking for the best price/performance mid-high tier card on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Card - Drivers Improving
Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2019

Fantastic card. It's probably the best bang for buck around. A quick overclock using the Radeon software's one-click OC utility got this baby on 2080 performance. For $400. Yeah, that's rock solid.

I max out just about everything on 1440p. Most things run at a clean 144 FPS (I cap it to my monitor's refresh rate) and it's butter smooth. The exception to this are games that are poorly optimized. In those games I just turn down some settings I don't care about to high instead of ultra and I'm back to 60+ FPS no sweat.

The only downside to this card (and it could be because of my older system configuration) is that the drivers have a few stability issues. This is expected as this is a brand new architecture and it's the same across the market. When Nvidia last released a new architecture it was buggy for months. Fortunately, I've seen a new driver update available every 2-3 days since purchasing the card and each one gets more stable. I'd say it's good enough for regular users now to fire-and-forget.

So basically - this new architecture kicks ass and I'm convinced that this arch is to Nvidia what Ryzen was to Intel. A huge threat and the beginning of declining market shares. It overclocks like an absolute beast. If you're into the super high end segment, wait for the new high end version of this architecture. It's confirmed and should be coming fairly soon. If you're a best-bang-for-your-buck shopper, you can't beat this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great- but too soon.

Let me put it bluntly-this card is FAST. Against Nvidia’s 2060 SUPER (same price) the RX 5700 XT is at least around 5-10 percent faster. Plus, the card looks beautiful. One of the best looking ever, in my opinion. It looks much more much more smooth and mild than the sharp edges of the RTX and GTX founder’s edition cards.

Now for the bad. My card came with a bent mounting bracket, but I easily bent or back with my hand. However there is still a slight bend in the metal. Yeah yeah, easy fix, but what really made me knock off a star? Well, the drivers and the cooler. Instead of waiting a week to get everything smoothed out and perfected, AMD rushed this card to the market. The software isn’t as bad as when Vega launched, (thank god) but on certain benchmarks such as Userbenchmark’s Direct3D bench, the card just wouldn’t run. Also, when trying to play War Thunder, the PC reported not haveing a OpenCL 2.0 or higher GPU. But this card is OpenCL 4.6? Wtf?
Also, when under heavy load, the card is hot and loud. Since it’s not a car, it’s not good. Under load this thing will quickly jump to 80C and will slowly climb as you play. The fan will go up to slightly below talking speed. However doesn’t bother me, as I have a headset and don’t plan on overclock it.

All in all, great card. Just don’t buy a reference design. Unlike you love the looks.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for Linux, Ok for Windows.

This review is going to be for both Windows 10 and Linux (Specifically Arch with Mesa) at a 1440P Resolution with Freesync.

First Windows. In-Game the card runs great and is very competitive with a RTX 2070 Super, but that does go back and forth depending on the title. Not really much more to say there. The Card does not support Ray Tracing currently, but the penalty for using Ray Tracing is too high for me to consider it at this time. Now the bad. The Drivers. I don't know who is really at fault when it comes down to this. AMD or Microsoft and their ever changing OS and its driver support. The Drivers randomly crash, Occasionally games randomly freeze with an occasional BSOD, Occasionally weird artifact occurs and goes away with a restart. Fan Curves don't work properly most of the time when you try to override them. Stuttering tends to occur on high refresh rates with FreeSync enabled.

Now For Linux. The card runs beautifully with no issues what so ever. Performance wise for people using proton its pretty much on par and sometimes outpaces Windows. I didn't experience any of the issues I had when bench marking in Windows 10. Now for the bad. The AMDGPU-PRO Drivers that AMD offers are absolute garbage in my testing. Stuttering occurs, artifact occurs, random game crashes. This does only happen with the AMDGPU-PRO Drivers and works perfectly fine on Mesa, using the latest mesa git package, so that would be my recommendation.

The bad all around.
This is a reference card with a blower cooler. It does get hot and it does get loud. So in this aspect I would recommend a partner card.

If your looking into Gaming in Windows I find it hard to recommend until the Driver situation gets sorted out. If your a Linux User, this card is great and I would definitely recommend it.
