I had the Fire Stick for years and I was 99% happy with it. The biggest drawback with it was the fact that when the electricity would go off (too often with PG&E), the Fire Stick had to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset it. There's no excuse for that, in my opinion, but that's how it was.
At one point, I decided to get the Fire TV, thinking that would alleviate the issue, and it did. Only, with the Fire TV, there are more issues. Even on a good day, Alexa often behaves like a disinterested, lazy, snarky, ungrateful, teenage SNOT. That was true with the Fire Stick, and it's like Snot 2.0 with the Fire TV. Gone are the days when this disdainful little jerk would find the show you were looking for, no matter which Network it was on. Now, she's sitting on her duff in the corner, snapping her gum, scrolling her phone, filing her nails, rolling her eyes, sighing in an exaggerated huff, and giving you the hairy eyeball, but NOTHING ELSE, unless YOU know which network the show is on. Even then, she never passes up an opportunity to ignore you completely, or she takes you to some completely unrelated and horrible excuse for a movie. The remote control is every bit as moody and equally useless at times.
Amazon TV... I got mine, I think it was late summer last year. You may want to wait until there is a version that is a little more 'dialed in' to the reason it was created in the first place. Every day is 'derp' day with Alexa stuck inside your tv, and both she and your remote would probably flip you off if they could.
