3.0 out of 5 stars1. Too big 2. What to do with the old fire stick?
Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2024
Summary: it’s too big to fit behind some TVs (compared it to the old fire stick, about 1” longer). But more importantly I have a fully functional device that is just an older model and I don’t know what to do with! Amazon- start a recycling♻️ program for your fire sticks, tablets etc.
The long story:
Likes: easy to install being some TVs, the new remote control also controls the TV
Issues: Nothing, absolutely nothing is wrong with my old fire stick except it mustn’t have some graphic component that causes it to give me an error when I go to play some movies on a particular app. Well, Fridays are movie nights and it became increasingly annoying to not be able to watch the movies we want on a particular app. Since my bestie and I have the same subscription and hers worked just fine…the difference is that she has newer fire sticks and the TVs that come with the inbuilt fire stick so I figured that was my problem! I’ve had my fire sticks since the inception (+\-2 years) of the fire stick. Since they’ve always worked for the past 6-7 years, I never bothered.
Well, thankfully there was a sale and I bought this fire stick. Now, to install it behind my TV…it did not fit into the space between the cable outlet and the raised part of the TV. This is a 55” Samsung TV. I tried it behind my 75” Samsung…it made it in but it was a snug fit. Thankfully, my LG is built completely differently from the Samsung TVs and there’s no restriction.
Secondly, I’m frustrated because this means I need to replace my second fire stick that is just as old but works fine and I’ll be stuck with these 2 devices because I cannot in good faith, chuck them in the trash. 🚮 I need an alternative to disposing these!
