As your surroundings change, noise cancellation will auto adapt to complement your new environment. |

Ambient Pass-Through | Allows some external noise from the surrounding environment, such as safety announcements or conversations, to be heard without taking the headphones off. |

Noise Cancelling: For on-ear headphones like these, you will never get perfect active and/or passive noise cancelling. Over/around ear designs are simply better at isolating noise and cancelling noise. Having said that, I think these headphones are about as good as an on-ear headphone can get at noise cancelling. 8/10
Comfort: Just like with Noise Cancellation, on ear headphones are never as comfortable as over/around ear headphones. The clamping force is applied to your ear rather than your head surrounding the ear, so they do become less comfortable the longer you wear them. Having said that, the generous, high-quality memory foam on these headphones makes then surprisingly comfortable for an on-ear design. 8/10
Sound Quality: This is such a subjective area for people that I will just say that they sound terrific, and I have no complaints. Best-sounding on-ear headphones I have ever tried. Better than many other expensive brands. 10/10
The Look: The build includes carbon fiber, metal accents, and nice fabric that make it clear that these headphones are luxurious without being tacky like so many other pricey brands. I also love the blue and silver color. Unfortunately, when I put them on, there is a very large and awkward-looking gap between the side of my head and the “arms” of the headphones on either side. It makes them look a little weird and large from straight-on. From the sides, they look great. 6/10
I will mention that the sensor to pause your music was problematic for me from day one with unnecessary pauses. Once I figured it out, I quickly turned it off in the app. I don’t miss the feature.
Overall, these are great headphones. If you are looking for a pair of smaller on-ear headphones that are nearly as good as the premium over/around ear options including the Bowers PX7, Bose NC700, and Sony 1000XM3 in a smaller form factor, these are a good choice.
Then, the sound quality is crazily impressive as usual. I like B&W because the sound is way better than what offered by BOSE and SONY. The noice cancelling is improved as well, since I tried at home while turning on the air conditioner. I feel nothing but the music when the cancelling turned on. Definitely better than PX, the previous version.
Cons:
1. The design of PX5 seems to aim for people with smaller heads/light hair... I cannot wear it comfortably since the clamping force is so strong that I feel pain on my head. However, I don't think it would be a problem for those who have a smaller head.
2. It's still a little heavier than Sony XM3, as the materials are metal like Carbon Fiber, which is more luxury than plastic like in Sonny XM3.
I generally like this product but it is not a fit for me.

These headphones are beautifully tuned to reproduce both orchestral and chamber music as if the listener were present in a concert hall with no amplified enhancements to the acoustic. The sound across the audible spectrum is balanced and natural, with crystal clear treble, a clean mid-range and balanced bass.
I have not made much use of the ANC but I didn't feel that the audio spectrum was changing markedly when I turned it on, just the suppression of external 'noises off'.
I really prefer on-ear (supra-aural) headphones to those which surround and enclose the ear, where the over-heating of my ears becomes a source of much discomfort. The first time I wore these, they did seem to hold tightly to my head (but still in a comfortable way), where now I hardly notice. I suspect that this is less to do with the headphones loosening up and more to my accommodation of the effect over time.
The pads are soft and giving, which means the seal is good over the ears and I do not find the weight at all troubling. This, of course leads to good audio isolation without recourse to the ANC, though some external sound can be heard. I have not yet tried themwith the ANC in a really noisy environment but they manage capably to shut out the noise of our washing machine if I wear them while doing the washing up!
I love the sound balance as described above whether I am listening to 'classical' music or rock, folk, jazz, where the natural balance still pleases me. My own speakers are bass-reflex (Q Acoustics 3020i) and I do not use any kind of sub-woofer: this probably tells you all you need to know about my sonic preferences. The B & W PX5s are a perfect complement to my 'room' audio setup.
They *do* look beautiful too!
