This mouse is that good!
It's rare that I write any reviews but this is definitely mouse that is worth it. I think Razer did a really good job here. The ergonomics and comfort of the basilisk as always been a plus to me. It's a decent sized mouse but even with my hands not being big I still find it very comfortable. The rubberized grips on the side are a nice touch. And the scroll wheel adjustment/tilt features are nice to see here as well. Before this I was using the viper ultimate and the basilisk essential. While I found the essential to be and probably still is the most comfortable mouse I've ever used in my opinion I found the basilisk v2 to be a solid mouse. I prefer it much over the price of the viper ultimate. I feel for less money here you get a better feeling and better built mouse all around. I kept feeling like the viper ultimate was cheap and the clicks weren't that great. Here it's all solid. The PTFE feet are perfect for a smooth glide and razers focus plus 20,000 dpi optical sensor here is no joke. Some of the smoothest tracking you can get at this price point I feel. Over all I love this mouse a lot and it is my main mouse. If I had to give it one con/ and or downside it's that for me the sniper button (dpi paddle) is a tad to far forward for my thumbs to reach comfortably. I had this same issue on the basilisk essential. I do have smaller thumbs than average but I figured I'd mention it. Overall this mouse is a definite recommendation for anyone out there that wants to have a comfortable and killer gaming mouse.

I've been playing and working with Razer mice for years and have most of their models on hand: DeathAdder Elite, Mamba Elite V2, Naga Trinity and now the Basilisk V2. The oldest is the DeathAdder Elite that is at least 4 years old. It's shiny from wear but works just as good as it did on the first day. I keep hearing folks complain about the Razer's quality and, I suppose, I am one of those lucky individuals that never had any issues with their products, thus I purchased all the mice listed above over the years to try different designs and see how they all feel. The Naga has been my favorite due to the shape -- I have a large hand and it's very comfortable to use it, I love how my hand just kind of rests on it, it almost feels as if it was molded around my palm. The Basilisk is the very close second favorite and I will explain why. This is predominantly my FPS mouse, while the Naga I use for RPGs more often than not.

Basilisk is a very precise mouse. It's by no means small but more narrow then Naga and the rubber sides together with the thumbrest make it very easy to grip and execute precise movements using various hand, wrist and arm muscle groups together. Naga in that regard is a bit more clumsy and relaxed, still capable in shooters by all means but the Basilisk has an edge over it in such type of games.

The extra buttons are very well placed. They are easily accessible but don't get in my way, so I don't trigger them by an accident, which sometimes happen when I use the DeathAdder or Mamba.

The feature to control the sensitivity of the scroll-wheel is genius! I have it set to have the most resistance. Switching weapons by an accident in the middle of action is no longer a thing. The sensitivity adjusting wheel feels a bit flimsy but it's on the bottom of the mouse and so far worked as intended, so I don't think this is a problem but, perhaps, could be a long term point of failure. I had this mouse so far for a couple of months, so I can't say how it will be years from now, but so far -- so good!

The main buttons are very long, longer than on any other mice I ever used, and are quite sensitive, but not to the point that I press them easily by an accident. They are quick and very easy to trigger when needed. Activating sniper-type weapons when the time is right, but not a second later, feels just right, and it seems the philosophy behind the design was exactly that -- to give the user that ability to trigger weapons as fast as possible using muscles within nearly the entirety of fingers. This also gives it that elongated "alien spaceship" type look that I very dig. The weight of fingers is evenly distributed along the length of the buttons.

It glides very easy and feels at home on any mat but works especially well with hard surface mats. On the bottom it has extensive low friction inserts that make it feel stable and quick.

At first I was skeptical of the thumbrest, and I never owned a mouse with one before, but it's certainly there for more comfort and better control, certainly not just for looks.

When it comes to looks, I think it's their most good looking mouse. Very elegant, though, of course this is subjective. To me the looks are a plus but I certainly don't buy mice for their looks (well, maybe the Mamba Elite is an exception, haha).

Somewhere I read that it has one of the best sensors out there, I can't comment on that as all Razer mice to me feel good and I mostly use the 1800 DPI setting on all of them with the ultra-wide 1440p main screen I use. There were no glitches with the sensor, it has been working fantastic all this time. This could be a placebo and, perhaps, this has more to do with the overall design of the mouse, but it feels very precise, more precise than my DeathAdder but, again, this could be unrelated.

Overall, it's an amazing FPS mouse that in my world takes the crown from the DeathAdder in that regard. It's the mouse that I take along to use with my laptop most of the time as it's nearly as comfortable to me as the Naga but lighter and not as tall, which makes makes it fit my backpack pockets better. I like using it for work as well. There's absolutely nothing negative to state about it, minus the flimsy-ish resistance regulation wheel for the scroll-wheel but, as mentioned earlier, it is on the bottom of the mouse and doesn't need to be tanky at all to perform its function well, which it does.

I certainly would recommend this mouse to pretty much everyone. Whether you are a professional that needs a very precise mouse or an e-sports star -- it's an amazing mouse to have. My Mamba and DeathAdder are jealous as lately I've been using exclusively the Basilisk and the Naga, though the other mice do make good display pieces :)

I ordered three gaming mice to choose from so I knew I was getting what I wanted. I ordered the Logitech G502 SE Hero, the Razer Viper Ultralight wired, and this mouse, the v2 basilisk. This mouse easily won out on the other two. It looks sleek, feels very comfortable to hold, is very lightweight, has very well placed buttons on the side, and glides across the mousepad with ease. My favorite part of this mouse, however, is the easily removable paddle located at the tip of the thumb on the side of the mouse. This was a dealbreaker for me with the G502. It’s button felt terrible placed and was annoying when clicked. On the basilisk however, it’s magnetic and can be removed and re-installed with ease in less than 5 seconds. It also feels very comfortable to click. The user interface is very sophisticated and intuitive, yet not overwhelming. There is a button on the bottom of the mouse that lets you change between “profiles”, (read custom button presets) with 0 effort. There is also a slider on the bottom of the mouse that lets you customize the resistance of the scroll wheel, so you can get exactly what kind of respond you want from your mouse.

As someone who had been told that they are sometimes a little too picky with not-super-important things (i.e. a gaming mouse), I cannot recommend this mouse enough.
I will say that I have only had this mouse for two weeks, so I can’t speak to its expected life. However, barring any complete durability malfunctions, this mouse had exceeded every expectation, and I am very pleased with this product overall. Enjoy!

Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2021
Bought this mouse almost a month ago as a replacement for my old Razer Naga since the right click would glitch sometimes and I’ve been loving it ever since. I decided to buy it because of its weight (I prefer heavier mouses), buttons, and size. I’ve been satisfied with it and appreciate the extra button it has since it can be reconfigured or used as a “clutch” as Razer calls it which means that it changes your DPI to whatever you set it to. The clutch feature could be used to allow you to be more precise with your aim, however, I don’t ever see myself using it. But it is a nice feature to have.

I like the feel of it in my hands. It feels sturdy and durable it doesn’t feel cheap even though it’s only made of plastic. The grip that it has on the right thumb also feels good and adds to its feel of quality.

I also like that you can change the strength or resistance of the scroll wheel. While it won’t reduce the resistance to allow you to infinitely scroll like the G502 it will reduce it enough to allow you to scroll really easily.

The grip that I had to use to grab on to this mouse is one of the things that felt a little weird to me at first. Coming from a Naga which doesn’t have as much thumb support but instead more finger support it took me about a week or two to adjust my grip to it but now it feels natural.

One thing I wish this mouse had would be that I wish it had bigger DPI buttons. I reconfigured my DPI buttons so that they’re “M” and “L” I use these buttons while gaming and having smaller, shorter buttons make it easier to misclick. However, I am adapting to them as time goes on and the more I use them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mouse for bigger hands
Reviewed in Canada on December 13, 2023
I love this mouse, it's been hard to find something like this for larger hands yet still ready for gaming. It has on the fly sensitivity adjustment at the click of a button, so if it feels sluggish when loading into a new game, ypu can bump up the dps without going into and setting or menus. It also has 2 thumb buttons that are is a very nice place, once in a while I accidentally hit them, but again for gaming it's perfect.

The wire itself is super soft and you can't feel it drag at all. Plus RGB amirite haha

But yeah, it is awesome and I highly recommend it for someone looking for a simple bigger mouse that is good for regular computer work as well as gaming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leve, preciso e customizável
