There was a trade-in for my old iphone that was not honored at the promised amount. The screen was not cracked, the phone powered on and the phone was reset as they asked. Now my iphone 6s plus is gone and i was given half of the promised amount for the phone i used daily.
Every time I try to contact customer service it takes an hour to an hour and a half. No resolution and no follow up as promised.
This gadget is supposed to make my life easier, instead I have only become more aggravated.

Otherwise, perfection!
I want to give a shout out to Google for its excellent customer service. I bought this phone as a used product on amazon and came "like new" for a heavily discounted price. The phone came and barely had a scratch on it, but its speaker was busted and wouldn't work. After contacting Google directly, they told me to send the phone to them and they'd sent me a free replacement. That is excellent customer service.
Design
The design of xl is a little dated. It has a mighty chin and a notch to define all notches. Actually, the notch doesn't bother me and I barely notice its there. The only time it bugs me is when I'm gaming but there are separate settings to configure to allow for the notch.
Instead of a in-screen fingerprint scanner, Google opted for a rear fingerprint scanner. I don't mind that at all and it works lightening fast.
On the left of the phone, there are no buttons. All the buttons are on the right hand side. I feel that Google thought of a right-handed person when designing this phone as the power button is above the volume buttons.. Which Is something I don't see very often. I don't like it. Personally I think it makes things really awkward but what can do about it.
Performance
The phone is powered with a snapdragon 845 with 4gb ram. Google have said that 4gb is sufficient and that the software is optimised such that 4gb is sufficient. IT ISN'T. 4gb is useless and I cannot tell you how much I hate this phone for it. The phone lags every day, multiple times throughout the day. The only way to temporarily sort this out is by clearing your background tabs. For a £1000 phone, you should not be doing this and it is appalling to have to resort to this. To counter the lag, I've additionally had to resort to restarting the phone every day just to try and make things better.
Surprisingly, playing graphic intense games such as PUBG is fine and it seems to handle them without issue. This is the only time the device works well. If you're thinking of buying this phone because you've been told that all of the Google apps are optimised and work better on the pixel, don't buy it - it's not true and it will only cause you frustration.
Camera
The camera is amazing... When it works. The camera is very software dependent, so if there's a software update that screws up the camera, you've got a screwed up camera for 1 month until the next update is available. Now the camera does produce exceptional photos (and night sight is no joke) but it lags so bad. Often after opening the camera app, I will press the shutter button and then wait 3 seconds before the photo is actually taken. Come on Google, what's with that?
Battery
Finally, the battery is OK. With the charger out of the box, you can get a full charge in about 1hr 30. It's fine. It's not great but it's fine. The disappointing part is that the battery drains very quickly. I'm looking between 4-6 hrs screen on time at a maximum and this is 0% gaming. If I even think about opening games, make sure you bring that charger as you'll definitely need it.
To conclude this review, let me summarise.
The display is alright but it's more of a 2018 design than anything else. The performance is terrible. Absolutely terrible. The battery life is OK and nothing more than that. The camera is as temperamental as a baby.
Given that this phone is very software driven, but the software is failing across the board, this is a phone that is not worth having. I hate that I have to say this because I was so desperate to own a pixel device for the camera and the supposed amazing performance. Real-world usage is disappointing at best and I definitely recommend opting for another phone, like I have to now.
My rating of 2/5 is justified and based solely on my experience.
