Graphics: Gorgeous. The dilapidated farm house is creepy and the environments look great in 1st person 9/10.
Sound: Little clincks and clanks will keep you looking behind yourself. Gun sounds roar with a pull of the trigger. 8/10
Weapons: Satisfying-especially the shotgun. There is a great list of classics in here. 10/10
Story: Engaging- reminds me of spin off of the original Silent Hill. No score since game is not beaten yet...
One let down for me was the puzzle sections. I have only come across one puzzle that was satisfying. 4/10
I know what you are thinking... 9/10, 8/10, 10/10, 4/10... how does it get a perfect review? Will i would actually give this game a 4.5/5 stars but am unable to do so, and I feel as though 4/5 is too low. There are so many intangibles in this game that make it feel superb. Do yourself a favor and be sure to experience this game!
Setting: The hills of LA. Not the typical Raccoon City setting at all. You start out as a man in a first-person setup looking for his wife, who has gone missing.
The camera angle: Solely first person. You really don't know much of anything as the game starts and goes downhill once you make your way to the back house.
The characters: This game was unlike any other, there were no random zombies! I know....but it's a RE game, how could there be no zombies?! Wait for it....instead you have these insane main characters who, for the most part, are annoying as they "die" but yet keep coming back to life.
Fear factor: Scary!!! There were parts I couldn't play, giant spiders aside, that had me curled up under a blanket ready to jump.
Storyline: Fantastic! It almost reminded me of TX Chainsaw Massacre mixed with a choose your own adventure book. Mind you I'm sparing spoilers but it'll make sense when you have to choose....
All in all I give this game a 10/10. I went in expecting another disappointment and came out amazed. Note: Make sure to watch the whole ending through for a surprise.
Resident Evil 7 is great because the series returns to it's surivial horror roots. This game has the feel of the Spencer Mansion from the first game in the series. The character you play as is named Ethan and the story goes is that one day he gets a mysterious email from his wife Mia, who has been missing for three years. Telling him to go to this large plantation house in the Louisiana bayou owned by the Baker family. So he goes and investigates the house. Not heading the gruesome warnings outside he ventures in. There his search turns into surivial. Item management is a priority as the creatures in this one (called the Molded) are like bullet sponges and sometimes the best fighting option is to run. Their is the return of item boxes and you can find them in the sanctuaries of save rooms. On higher difficulties you will need to hold onto cassette tapes in order to save. This game delivers on scares, I found not a lot of jump scares in the game. If I was playing in VR their would of been a few scenes I would of panicked in. Overall this is a definite recommendation from a big Resident Evil fan. I will not spoil anything but as I played I wondered how it tied into Resident Evil. I was thinking maybe Capcom just slapped the name and sold it as one but I can say. The final end of the game clears that all up. It blew my away. I highly recommend!
