2021 - Bricks SHATTERED during Assembly!!!
The seller was nice. I just wish I knew about the brown brick issue before purchasing this massive must-have Lego set.Purchased in September 2021 as a special Christmas gift for my husband...Update! Seller made contact. Gave me the option of refund or contacting Lego directly for replacement pieces.- According to the Seller, the brown bricks in the set had a defect (known now by Lego). I'm in the middle of contacting Lego with a list of broken pieces. All broken pieces are brown or dark brown.- No missing pieces and my husband honestly could not care less about the box being slightly dented!

My kids all love lego sets. I have not been into it as much as my kids and wife have. When I saw this set I thought that it looked really cool and would be a good set for the kids to have. So rather than get it for them for Christmas or a birthday, I bought it with my own entertainment money and told the kids they could have it but I wanted to put it together. I did this at a time when my son and one of my daughters had wanted to buy smaller sets for themselves with their own money so we made it into a family fun night to put them all together as a family. My oldest daughter helped me to put it together and we did not get it done that first night. I am not sure how many hours it took but it was probably at least 4 hours of good quality family time.
This tower is really fantastic. It has multiple levels that can be reached from the back and the ominous look to it from the front is impressive. The Ent that comes with it is several inches tall and was a nice addition just by itself. My kids like this tower also and have not taken any of it apart (which is unusual for them). I like having it set up and towering over all of the other lego sets that they have in the play room. I guess I don't know what else to say. Despite the fact that I am not that into lego sets, I am glad I purchased this one. I almost want to glue it together so that it cannot be taken apart, but then that defeats the purpose of them being lego sets. Anyway it is one of my favorite as I stated in the title. In fact, I would say at this time that it is my favorite, and we have gotten quite a few over the years.

This set is great for those who are above the age of 12-14, only because some of the stickers, and parts of the build can be a little frustrating to a younger buyer. Also, for the price point, I don't see very many kids buying this set at 200 dollars. So here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
-Awesome set, could not say better things about it
-Iconic landmark of Middle-Earth
-Fun Build
-Cool interior set pieces, you can tell they put a lot of time into the details
-An Exclusive Robe piece for Saruman, though it also comes with legs
-An Ent! You get an actual Ent in this set which is a fun little add-on
-Also, you get an Eagle in this set, so that you can recreate Gandalf's rescuing
-I could go on and on, but I think you get it, this set is great
-Unique build, and some unique pieces to this set

Cons:
-Price point, I would say 150 would be a better price, but this is an iconic set, and they can charge more
-The stickers, oh god, even as an adult, I can't stand the stickers, though I suppose it's down to personal preference on this one
-Some parts of the build are a bit repetitive, but that is with almost any big build
-ALL THE BLACK BRICKS, I realize it's necessary for this set, at the same time, it gets to you

So, that wraps up the pros and cons, to wrap the review up, this set is great, though pricey, it is worth the money. I wouldn't recommend this set to the kids, there are far better sets out there for their age group. This set comes with 4 minifigs, Saruman, Gandalf the Grey, an Orc, and an Uruk-Hai. It comes with an eagle and an Ent. Great build, and well worth it for the adult fans of Lego.

If you love Lord of the Rings/Hobbit and LEGOs, then this is a must have. I built this with my 5 yr old son and we had such a good time building it. This thing is massively large and there is a lot to build. I wouldn't say it's super challenging, but it does require attention to detail for sure, because there is a LOT of details in this set. I had looked at the box many times looking at all the cool features and still noticed new things when I built it. It's big and heavy, but LEGO sturdy for sure. It was such a blast to build and it now sits next to me in my office at work. If you're even remotely hesitant, get it.

I'm a huge Lego fan, and I have started collecting the LOTR ones. I waited to get this one because of the hefty price. Knowing it wasn't going to go down anymore I just decided to buy it. It was worth every penny! It was a complicated build, it was fun, and took about 10 hours to complete. This set is a beast. I'm very proud of this one. It stands 28.5 inches tall, so have space for it. I would recommend this for any Lego fan.

The design is one of the most stable of the LEGO LOTR sets measuring in at 28" high. There were one or two places in the instructions that were a little hard to read due to the very dark and low contrast printing. My 9 year old daughter pretty much assembled it herself. She takes the Ent just about everywhere. The entire back side of the Tower is open to access for make believe and role play. My daughter loved the red LED light brick which lights up a green plastic ball. We didn't like the ball as much as the parts that come with the LEGO LOTR The Wizard Battle - which my daughter already had, so she swapped it. In the end, however, she found the light up brick to be so much fun that she incorporated it into her own creations.

As the largest Lego set I currently own, I had trouble convincing myself to spend $200 on this. After all, I'm not even a huge fan of Lord of the Rings. In retrospect, I'm glad I bit the bullet and bought this. You can't imagine from the pictures alone just how huge the tower ends up being in the end. The minifigures, eagle, and ent are all just icing on the cake. The sheer height of the tower alone makes this feel quite worth it, and the level of detail that's been put into both the exterior and interior shows just how much LEGO has done for its older fans in the past few years. I highly recommend this set despite the price, as I think you'll find it to be quite worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to build. Beautiful decorative piece.

Got this for my girlfriend as a surprise gift and it was everything I expected it to be and took us a good 4 or 5 days to build, investing 2 or 3 hours a day in to it. With a little supervision we even had her 5 year old helping us build a few pieces. To be fair, not letting a 5 year old in on something like this is asking for a world of annoyance and mental torture, so kind of strong-armed in a way. The only real problem we had with it was finding a place for it that didn't put it in harms way of being knocked over. Plenty of decorative pieces so I do suggest keeping it out of reach of being considered a toy. The end result is just as stunning as the box makes it out to be, even more so once you get to see the rooms inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars sehr schönes Modell, das einiges her macht
Reviewed in Germany on September 23, 2013
