Using it for taking notes with the iPad 10th generation.
This is my first iPad, and my first time using an Apple Pencil, or stylus in general for that matter.I’m currently going back to school and prefer to take notes directly onto my power point slides, drawing/ adding to diagrams, also including sub notes. However, printing was getting expensive, especially in a class like physiology.Switching to digital note taking long term is going to save money, and using the iPad, and Apple Pencil made the learning curve so much faster! Definitely can recommend for note takers!Unfortunately I’m not much of an artist, so I can’t speak on how well this works in digital art.

I really have thoroughly enjoyed this so much on my iPad 7th generation using Procreate. The drags is very nice and it gave me a smooth experience. It was very easy to connect it to my iPad. All I had to do was turn on the Bluetooth and remove the Apple pencil cap, plug it into the iPad. It connects very quickly. The cap is also magnetic which is super useful and neat. The battery life has been amazingly good as well as quick charging within an hour or so before fully charged. Overall, a very good product and I'm happy with it.

I bought 3 of these for my kids since they all like to draw on their iPads. I purposefully bought the 1st gen to save some money but also because of the connectivity. They have a lightning connector but come with a USB C adapter. Their current iPads are lightning but now that Apple is switching to USB C, I will have both options. Also, their iPads are in cases, so using a 2nd gen pencil with the magnetic charging was out of the question.

Overall, the kids love them! I did pick up some rubber grips in different colors so each kid could see which one was theirs. that definitely helps.

I’m a digit artist and this pencil is amazing. It does come with an extra tip so when the other one rubs down u got a spare. Please note that the only the USB-C and direct plug in can pair with the device; the USB cannot pair the device and pencil, only charging. Strong magnetic hold for accessories.

So..I came to find out that you must have this charged all the time! There was a period of time where I didn’t t have this charged (my art block) and the pencil inner battery ended up dying for good. Meaning it would not take a charge anymore. So obviously I had to get a second one. But it works perfectly fine nonetheless.

If you're not able to afford the 2nd gen pen, the 1st gen still holds up well. It's very easy to set up and comfortable drawing with. My only issues is the charging method, since you have to plug it into your iPad to connect/charge, it can be risky incase something knocks against it; damaging either device plus there's no proper case/stand to leave the pen in when not in use so it's advised to keep the box when receiving it.

Overall, I really love this pen as it's very cost effective and reliable. I strongly recommend this for those wishing to draw/write on an iPad but can't afford the newer pen and tablets for it. I also love that it comes with an additional pen tip incase you need to replace it, the magnetic top to protect the connector, lightweight in your hands, and feels like you're using a traditional pencil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable Tool for Creativity, But Limited Compatibility
Reviewed in Canada on June 15, 2023
    Style: USB-C AdapterVerified Purchase
The Apple Pencil (1st Generation) has been an invaluable tool in unleashing my creativity on my iPad. Its sleek design and precise functionality make it a remarkable stylus for digital drawing, note-taking, and more. The responsiveness and accuracy of the Pencil's tip provide a natural and immersive drawing experience, mimicking the feel of a traditional pencil on paper. The pressure sensitivity adds an extra layer of control, allowing for varying line thicknesses and shading effects. The seamless integration with iPad apps, such as Procreate and Notability, further enhances the overall user experience, making the Apple Pencil a must-have tool for artists and creatives.

One aspect to keep in mind is the limited compatibility of the 1st Generation Apple Pencil. It is only compatible with select iPad models, specifically the older iPad Pro, iPad Air (3rd generation), and iPad (6th and 7th generations). This means that if you own a newer iPad or iPad Pro, you may need to consider purchasing the 2nd Generation Apple Pencil for full compatibility. Additionally, the Pencil's cylindrical shape lacks an eraser feature or programmable buttons, which could have added more versatility and convenience to its usage. Lastly, the need to charge the Pencil by connecting it to the iPad's Lightning port may be a minor inconvenience, as it exposes the Pencil to potential accidental damage during charging.

In summary, the Apple Pencil (1st Generation) is a remarkable tool that unlocks a world of creativity on compatible iPads. Its precise and responsive performance, along with its seamless integration with various drawing apps, makes it an excellent choice for artists and note-takers alike. However, it's important to consider the limited compatibility with specific iPad models, as well as the absence of an eraser or programmable buttons. With its undeniable strengths and a few minor drawbacks, the 1st Generation Apple Pencil earns a solid four-star rating from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars I didn’t know how great this would be. It is great.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 31, 2020

I was sceptical about how often I’d use one of these, but I needn’t have been so. It can be used on the iPad on every single screen as a standard stylus/selector, but it absolutely shines when used for taking notes, doing sketches and using drawing apps. It feels good in the hand. It’s got a nice weight. The nib is bang on for precision. It connects instantly, the second it’s moved. It charges quick enough and lasts a long time once full. In work I have to mark up drawings for changes to be made, and I normally would either mark on by hand, scan and send back, or I’d use Adobe on the pc and use its mark up tools, which aren’t great. Both these methods are shown up to be so slow compared to what I can do now... I just email myself the image or pdf, open it on the iPad, draw straight on top using the Apple Pencil, and then from there email the file back to the draughtsman. It may only sound like a few minutes I save, and I suppose in isolation it is, but consider that i could save this time over and over again ten or twenty times a day, and you can see the savings there are to be made. The drawing mark ups I can now do are hugely clearer, so I can convey ideas much easier. I can undo mistakes. I can zoom in and out for great clarity, I have no idea how it does it, but with the pencil in hand, my wrist and base of my palm somehow doesn’t affect the drawing, it only reacts to the pencil. Even more strangely, I can hold the pencil and still tap with my finger to select things, it’s all very clever indeed.
5/5 all day long for another terrific Apple device,
One tiny downside is cost. There are clones available for £25 upwards, which claim to have the same functions, but I felt it best in this case to stick with Apple devices to work other Apple devices. It’s a moot point though because I couldn’t buy one of the clones to test and compare, so I can’t comment on them at all . They might work and they might not. I made the choice to spend what I spent, and I have no regrets at all.
