3.0 out of 5 stars High Resolution, Low Comfort.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 1, 2024
Wanting to replace my Valve Index headset I decided to go for the new Vive, considering I'd had the original back in the day and liked it well enough. This was a mistake.

The first Vive was quite heavy and this is just as bad, the ergonomics in general are just terrible. This is a very unwieldy device that clamps onto your head, and if you want to use the attached headphones it's even more uncomfortable.

I was fairly impressed with the resolution, it's now equivalent to examing a nice LED monitor from a couple inches away instead of an old LCD with visible pixels. We're a long way from the screen door effect of old, but still not quite to the point of it being truly seamless. Damn close, though.

That said, your field of view is not particularly great. You're looking through two box shaped holes that are hard to ignore. The lenses aren't really much different to those found in the other headsets I've tried, except for the fact that they LOVE to steam up after just a few minutes. This could occasionally be a problem in the Index if I was doing something strenuous like soundboxing, but here just sitting in the headset you start misting up.

And we haven't even got to the awfulness that is the Vive software yet, which must always be running alongside SteamVR. I could've taken that if the device itself was good, but this is one of the most obtuse and awkward things I've ever hooked up to my computer. You'd think they'd have ditched the breakout box by now but no, and I've yet to find a strap position that helps my head take the weight of this thing.

I would recommend any other headset over this, it's not comfy, it's a hassle to set up, and its only selling point is negated by the poor lenses.

4.0 out of 5 stars Muy buen VR 5k para habitación grande .

4.0 out of 5 stars Mic and headphones are really bad but screen is nice.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 12, 2023
Comparing to index as my strap broke and decided to upgrade to something with higher resolution. The total experience of the index is better but the image is much better on the Pro 2. I almost prefer using the index the fov is slightly better and the fact the off ear speakers and mic are so much better it's laughable this is called a "pro" at all. By the time you decide to mod mic and swap the headphones out for your own you have so much stuff strapped to your head it's almost not worth but that screen clarity is really nice.

1.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE RUBBISH
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 5, 2022
I purchased this to "upgrade" my original HTC Vive and also Index headset.
Bear in mind original vive was £500 new for everything, index was £450 for headset and this is £719 just for headset.

I played with this new VR for 3 hours before putting back in a box and asking for refund.

I purchased this mainly for "5K resolution" and 120Hz because other vr headsets are "only" 90hz.
1. It is not 5k resolution unless you set resolution in steam vr to 150%!!
This is false advertising!!
2. In those 3 hours I could not find how to set headset to 120hz!!
It was always set at 90Hz. Another false advertising!
3. Audio is just rubbish and I mean it's so bad that poundland sells £1 earphones and they would sound better than this tin can!! Also you are unable to plug your own earphones or mic in this headset!
4. It is incredibly heavy compare to Valve Index or original Vive.
5. It would make sense to use hdmi or display port, but no, htc decided to use "new" connection which is similar to connection printers use...Making all your hdmi and display port cables useless...
6. Forcing you to use their software on top of steam vr!!
You cannot turn off/uninstall their software because it will turn off steam vr.
Forcing you to use their software which has got it's own settings and also steam vr which has got own settings....Absolutely stupid!
7. I could not set headset to 120Hz in either steam vr or htc software!
8. I own 3090 gaming rig! Just turning Steam vr on and I could see this headset was using 7.5GB of GPU just in steam vr [ no game running ]
This to me is very suspicious as original vive and index use only 2GB of gpu in steam vr. This feels like htc software is actually mining using your gpu.
9. on my original vive and also valve index i could run MFS2020. With this headset and this gaming rig, i could not run it. it always just froze.
10. There is lots of light coming in around the bottom of the nose which cannot be blocked out. This literally ruins vr experience!
11. And lastly, it is incredibly heavy and foam is so thick it feels uncomfortable and makes you sweat a lot.

Would not recommend. Vavle index is incredible for half of the money. This is not upgrade, but 100% downgrade with double of money!

1.0 out of 5 stars Been 4 months and short time for screen damaged
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 18, 2024
I don't recommend to buy this. This could damage anything because Vive can't stop starting up and damaging my headset but I have another VR still working without problem with Index VR. I can't believe this I did bought this. I can't fix the display I have no clue how to fix it but I've tried everything with computer stuff such as clear cache, reinstall driver and more.

Make no sense my friends told me that's not good to use it. I've played VRChat most time on VR and I was happy but not happy now. When you tried to run a game aka Roblox will damage your VR.

Update: Which do not force to turn hub off will cause make your VR burn-in but there is a way can fix burn-in about in hour not so bad. I am currently using vive console beta should not damage anything I haven't got a burn-in on my vr.
