Dropbox service is great. I have had it for many years, and the promo that Amazon ran for a free $20 gift card made it a no brainer. Some features of Dropbox for those that are new:

- access your files anywhere. there are lots of cloud services and almost all offer a free version, including dropbox. i have the free version of many of them as well, but dropbox is the only one i pay for because of the added bonuses below. access files is super simple- online, dedicated folder on your computer, on your phone. additionally, you can sync your password manager, or other apps to dropbox and have access everywhere for your passwords.

- camera uploads. this is great. you can set your phone or tablet to automatically upload and backup your pictures and videos hassle free and no need to remember. you can set it so it only does it on wifi to protect your data usage. then finding photos from your old phone or while sitting at your computer couldn't be easier.

- integrated Microsoft office. this is probably something that a lot of people don't know. you can edit documents in native Microsoft office through dropbox. no need to have it on your computer or device. saves automatically and it is uploaded back to your cloud without any copy left on the computer you are using. great feature.

-Dropbox paper. this is in addition to the MS Office integration. Paper allows multiple users to edit one document together or alone, in real time. very cool feature.

-Sharing. you can share any file or folder with others. they dont even need a dropbox account necessarily. makes group projects or sharing files/photos super simple and the files never leave your cloud. you can set permissions such that the invited people can edit or just view.

-selective sync. this is great for saving space. you can set dropbox up on your laptop or computer, but in case you just use a few folders from dropbox routinely, you can have just those kept on that device. the folders will sync with the cloud so all changes are reflected everywhere, but you can work offline on the synced files too. you can change this day to day or minute to minute as far as the files you have synced to the local device. great for the new devices that have SSDs and less storage space.

-local dropbox. this goes hand in hand with the above feature, but basically you can set a local copy of dropbox that will sync with the cloud. when you are working on your computer, it will save the same as any other local folder, except this one will sync wiht the cloud. great feature that helps to ensure your work will be saved and accessible.

-back up your music, imp files, etc. a lot of people dont know that you can save your defaulty documents, photos, music, etc folders within dropbox. this will effectively make your 1TB account on the cloud a real time back up of your current device. all without need for reminders, space limitations, etc.

It is unfortunate that neither Amazon or Dropbox could explain with the correct information what to do in a situation like this so FYI:

Nothing can be done by the user until the account expires, at which point it downgrades to the free version. Nothing gets lost. Only after it downgrades the option to change the payment method appears, and keys can be redeemed.

Pretty simple once one knows.

The product description should clearly point out that this renewal code does NOT work for subscribers with Extended Version History, which I pay an extra $39 every year to have. I did not know until after I purchased this and now I am stuck with it and cannot use it. It is completely absurd that this renewal does not work for customers who are paying for additional services. EPIC FAIL.

So I received an offer from Dropbox for a 30 trial, and if I were to cancel anytime before the 30 days was up, i would not be charged. I decided to sign up an thankfully Amazon had this offer so I jumped on it on one of my accounts.

They don't make it easy to cancel either, so beware of that if you ever get an offer from them. So 30 days, and yes you guessed it, Dropbox invoice VCW8D1K97DB6 charged, and it almost appears that I can't do anything about it. Large corporations shouldn't do this, it just makes them look patty and cheap.

Got this as a discount during a promotion and used it to upgrade a free Dropbox account. The code worked instantly and perfectly. Couldn't ask for any more than that. Very pleased with this purchase.

For the longest time I have been saving my files on external hard drives. It got to a point where I was buying more and more drives. And for someone that wants to live on less, getting more drives was not the solution.

Then Dropbox came out. It was fantastic because I felt secure knowing my files were in the cloud. Then they put out a 1 TB subscription plan which I initially didn't want to pay a yearly fee of a hundred dollars. But for the past two years, I have been able to get it for 20% off and that made the price more reasonable to me.

Since subscribing, I have not had a single worry about losing any of my files. The 1 TB is more than enough for most people (and I am pretty tech savvy, and take a lot of photos and videos). What you're really paying for with Dropbox Plus is peace of mind. You don't have to worry about having drives stolen, or destroyed in a house fire, or accidentally breaking your hard drive. The price for peace of mind is worth it. Recommended.

I thought it was a pretty good deal as you're getting Dropbox for $50 off. They are billed separately so watch out for that.

I bought this to extend my drop box subscription which expires in February. When I went to redeem the code on the amazon offer I was told "You cannot redeem a license key with your current subscription." I've now spent 25 minutes online trying to resolve this problem. No solution yet! Not worth the time to get the amazon bonus offer.
