    I am very pleased with the speed and performance of this drive.I now own 3 of these drives because I was very impressed by the speed of the first drive.The only down side I noted was how warm the drives get with heavy use. That being said I was doing a transfer of a 2.3 Tb data backup.As for durability the drive turns out to be very good. Two of the drives were shipped to me in a box that only had a single Styrofoam meat tray for padding. One of the drives had the factory packing tray shattered from a shipping impact to the box. Even with deficient packing still it functions properly.As far as the quality of the WD 4Tb SSD goes I would highly recommend this product.

It's got a fast transfer speed, it does heat up quite a bit when using but not crazy hot just noticeably warm. It's super lightweight and smaller than any other drives I have but being a solid state drive that makes sense. Using this as a time machine back up drive for my mac and it is working great so far.     First off this thing is tiny, wasn't expecting how small it is. It comes with the hard drive, cord and adapter. It's got a fast transfer speed, it does heat up quite a bit when using but not crazy hot just noticeably warm. It's super lightweight and smaller than any other drives I have but being a solid state drive that makes sense. Using this as a time machine back up drive for my mac and it is working great so far.     I've been using the 4TB version of this drive on a 13 yo Windows 7 64-bit desktop for 3 1/2 months. Of course, there are no USB-C ports on the computer, but I needed the storage capacity and wanted to be ready for future upgrades, so I'm using the included USB-A adapter. The drive performs as well as can be expected with the current hardware, connects easily, and stays connected. I use it primarily for video storage and have no problem accessing it's contents via Plex on the network. However, I did run into one oddity when it comes to rebooting that I wanted to mention for anyone who might be using it on an older system like me. I rarely reboot my computer, so when I rebooted a couple of days ago - for the first time after connecting this drive - I was unpleasantly greeted with the "black screen of death" rather than the login screen. A quick internet search advised me to detach all peripherals and try again. It didn't take long to confirm that this drive was the culprit because it booted up normally after unplugging the drive. Just another thing to remember when rebooting; and the drive still performs flawlessly. Another note: I also use the 2TB version on a Windows 10 laptop and have had no issues with it at all. Transfer rates are very fast, as advertised using the USB-C port. I've used Western Digital drives for ~25 years and have found them to be reliable, so I stick with them.

    Its amazing how this small size hard drive can hold so much compared to the old days. This really isn't too much bigger than a business card. This was easy to set up and transfer information. It has a stylish look; not that the looks affects the quality. It does get a little warm already. I hope that isn't a problem in the long run. The only real downside is the cord they provide is way to short for anything, unless you are ok leaving your hard drive dangling from the cord while it is connected to the computer. So far I'm happy with this product. Hopefully that continues.

    I bought four of these WD 4TB SSDs for a project and had multiple failures. I first backed up about 2.5TB of footage on one drive with a redundant backup to another. After beginning to edit footage on drive 1 the drive failed, corrupting all data and losing me about an hour of work. While extremely concerning, I figured this is why we have backups, so I transferred the footage on drive 2 to drive 3, and began editing on drive 2. Soon after I experienced the exact same thing, and had yet another corrupted SSD.

    I immediately went out and grabbed a professional SSD solution (Sandisk ProBlade, which is still the same parent company), and thankfully was able to copy from my only remaining backup. No problems after that, and I've only ever experienced such a thing with these Western Digital SSDs. I'm so thankful I didn't lose the footage or it would have cost me a whole lot more than the $1500 I spent on the drives.

    Im Vergleich zu bewegten HDD sind die "stillen" SSD - bei mir 4 Tb - auf Win 11 - wie auch auf iMac
    Desktop PC mittels geeigneter SW: NTFS for Mac außerordentlich schnell geöffnet und die notwendige Aktualisierung erfolgt extrem schnell durch die notwendige A k t i v i e r u n g.
    Die NTFS-Dateien sind somit bestens für ein jahrelanges "Datengrab" geeignet.

    Die oftmals empfohlene extFAT hat sich als universales Datenformat bei mir weniger geeignet.
    Ich formatiere vorzugsweise besser auf NTFS.
