Product Description
The Pro Runner? 450 AW II DSLR backpack features padded, touch-fastening dividers for storing two Pro DSLR cameras with an attached 70-200mm 2. 8 or 300mm lens, 5-6 extra lenses, Speedlight's, and various accessories. Padded sleeves inside the front, zippered compartment holds an up to 15" laptop, 10" tablet, and a Wacom type tablet. Also inside this compartment is a zippered, clear-mesh pocket for cables, and related items. Cradle Fit construction suspends and protects your valuable gear from bumps and contact with the ground during transport. At the bottom of the main compartment is a useful, removable accessory case for your hard drives, cords, and other small items. Numerous interior and exterior pockets accommodate a wide variety of gear, and help keep your backpack free of clutter and well organized. Compression straps with quick-release buckles on the front of the backpack are used for securing a pro-sized tripod. The YKK locking zippers function smoothly and have fabric pulls for easy opening. Carry your BP 450 AW II Backpack with the padded grab handles located one on top, and one on the side. For comfort, the shoulder straps are adjustable, padded, contoured, and connect with an adjustable sternum strap. The added support provided by the removable, padded, waist belt helps make longer journeys less fatiguing. When not needed, the shoulder straps tuck behind the padded, mesh back panel. The mesh helps circulate air, cushions impacts, and wicks away moisture. On each side of the pack are compression straps which may be used for securing the back to a rolling luggage, trolley handle. And should the elements turn nasty, simply deploy the built-in all weather cover, and rest secure knowing your valuable gear is well-protected.

I need more time to do a thorough review, but here are my initial thoughts after an hour stroll with it packed with two camera bodies and three lenses: It's got the space for just about everything you could need outside of a studio light kit. My D500 and D810 fit like a bug next to the 70-200, 14mm 2.8, and 30mm 1.4 with PLENTY of room to spare. as always with Lowepro, the pockets siding is all adjustable, which is nice because I plan to make room for my 150-600 in this thing. The padding all around is hefty. I feel very confident about the quality of the material used. Stitching feels solid, the zippers are robust and don't catch, and the shoulder straps are thick and comfortable. Like I said, I only have an hour walking time with it. I'll come back when this thing hits the trails after a few weeks.
I did a lot of research on which would work best with the gear I have. I wanted something that wasn't too big (I'm only 5'4", that would still fit under the seat on an aircraft or on a train) and something that wasn't going to be too heavy since I'll be lugging it around. I finally decided to chance it and order this one and I'm so glad I did.
This backpack has so many compartments and it was MUCH cheaper than ordering it directly from Lowepro.
External:
- Padded back, shoulder pads, and a nice padded waistband to clasp around your waist for more support.
- The zipper pulls were great because you could attach a TSA security combo lock on either zipper compartments. If you're ever forced to "check" your luggage in the cargo hold due because of lack of overhead bin space or you just need leg room. On a side note, I would NEVER recommend parting with your camera gear or laptop. Things go missing.
Side:
- Mesh pocket to hold a small water bottle
- Name card holder
Front:
- 2 front narrow pockets which could hold pens, or a ruler if you feel the need to measure something
- Snap clasps to hold your tripod
Front-zippered compartment
- Keys, phone, misc
- Tablet
- up to 15" laptop (thin)
Main-zippered compartment
- Multiple lenses
- 2 DLSRs
- Zippered bag to store your power adapters, chargers, batteries, intervalometer
- Portable external hard drive
- SD cards or even a small carrying case which holds your cards
- Filters
My main concern was my zoom lens. If you own a Tamron lens, you would know they aren't small by any means. I have a Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens (w/ hood) and, although it was snug width-wise, there was enough room to place the zoom lens in the center after making some adjustments with the velcro liners. My other Tamron is a 15-30mm G2 wide angle lens which fit nicely, along with my standard Canon 24-105mm f4/L lens. I was also able to fit a Canon 24mm f2.8. My primary DSLR (Canon 5D Mark IV) was able to fit on the top and my secondary DSLR (Canon 80D) was able to fit on the side of the zoom.
Overall, I'm really happy with the amount of compartments and space this backpack has.
Two tips: 1) It comes with an external tripod foot, which I’ve found is unnecessary. Leave it home and save some weight and space. 2) It comes with a small, removable accessory bag that fits in the bottom of the bag. I like carrying two bodies with lenses attached, so I remove the accessory bag and use that space for the second body.
PROS:
- Capacity: It holds a 15” MacBook Pro, iPad Air, two pro-size camera bodies with lenses, 6 other lenses, external flash, light meter, Hoodman, several 100m filters, and lots of memory cards, batteries, and cables. At the destination, remove the MacBook and iPad, attach the tripod, and you’re ready to go.
- Comfort: The straps and padding work really well. I’ve hiked for several hours in hot weather with ~28 pounds of equipment and have not been uncomfortable.
- Ease of use: It easily fits in the overhead compartment on an airplane. The internal dividers are easy to adjust and there are enough of them to create separate compartments. The handles on the top and side make it easy to carry. There’s a good size pocket for a large water bottle.
CONS:
- Just one nit: With two bodies, in the top and bottom of the bag, the fit is really snug on the side with the camera grip. It’s not so snug that you can’t get the cameras in or out, but it’s a deep bag (for pro gear) and sometime you have to rock the camera to get it in or out.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with this bag. It’s the first one I’ve had that can carry two bodies (ready to shoot) with a wide selection of lenses, external flash, lots of accessories, MacBook and iPad.
Top reviews from other countries
Every square inch of the bag is designed with the end user in mind, it looks sleek and despite it's cavernous capacity it doesn't look particularly large.
The handles are all extremely well padded and have a durable feel, same goes for the shoulder straps, back support and waist straps - which are removable if you don't need them all the time. The double zipped pockets at the front of the bag provide easily accessible and ample storage for items that are not very thick, such as phones, wallets, passports, battery packs and business cards. As for the mid section, it provides safe and well padded pouches for up to a 17" laptop and/or 12" tablet.
As a photography graduate student i needed a bag that could take the abuse and comfortable carry my gripped D810, 200-500 and 70-200, with space to spare for a couple primes and batteries/memory cards/charger. This bag fits the bill and due to it's customisable inner padding can be configured to carry a variety of equipment.
Definitely worth the cost over the more cheaper bags, highly recommended.
