Sharp and steady

Nikon's superior VR image stabilization

Pros know camera movement during exposure robs sharpness. Nikon's VR image stabilization counteracts camera shake and vibration up to ~4.0 stops*, a must-have feature when working handheld, on a monopod or even a tripod. A specialized Sports Mode is optimized for camera pans and fast-action sports, and the Tripod Mode eliminates the subtle ground vibrations that are constantly passing through a tripod or monopod. Capture subjects with outstanding sharpness, even in low light.

*Among 5x normal zoom lenses with the f/2.8 maximum aperture at the maximum wide-angle position, compatible with lens-interchangeable digital SLR cameras employing APS-C-format image sensor, available as of June 3, 2015. Statement based on Nikon research.

Pro-grade image quality

A new level of DX-format performance

Rock steady

4 stops of Vibration Reduction**

In low light situations, the 16-80mm's VR image stabilization lets you shoot handheld up to 4 shutter speeds slower to gather more of the available light without causing blur. There's even a specialized Tripod VR mode, a first for this zoom range*, that eliminates the effects of tripod vibration.

**Based on CIPA Standard. This value is achieved when DX-format compatible lenses are attached to a DX-format digital SLR camera and zoom lenses are set at the maximum telephoto position.

Ultra-fast precision

High-speed electromagnetic diaphragm

Nikon's DX and FX DSLRs can freeze action with fast continuous shooting speeds; this lens can keep up. A specialized electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism operates in precise sync with the camera's shutter for reliable exposure control during high-speed sequences.

    Fantastic Lens for Archeological Sites
I bought this lens for my trip to Peru to photograph numerous archeological sites that we visited. Since I had weight limitations in my suitcase, I limited myself to two lenses with this being my go-to lens. It gave me excellent wide angle shots and limited zoom capability allowing me to frame the photos. I use this with my Nikon D7500 and have not seen any vignetting throughout the range of the lens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr gutes Allroundobjektiv
Reviewed in Germany on March 16, 2018
