Product Description

This SKYLIGHT 1B filter reduces the excessive bluishness that frequently occurs in outdoor color photography, especially in open shade under a clear, blue sky. The absorption peak is in the range, which corresponds to the film's green spectrum. This means outstanding outdoor shots with superb color balance and clarity under all conditions. Also keeps skin tones free of colored reflections from nearby objects such as the shade of trees.

Works perfectly; I always keep it on. Ordered for my Sony a77, checked the side of my lens to make sure it would fit and it does. This was actually my second purchase because I dropped my camera by mistake and the old one cracked - saving my lens, doing a great job. Very pleased with this.

This filter is excellent protection for your lenses. Ordered two and received one due to Amazon stepping on their crank. However that does not detract from the fact this is an excellent value and great filter for your lenses.

Hoya is a great value methinks! Bought this for a small video camcorder. But, this review is for Hoya filters in general. Have been photographing for 20+ years now and have generally stuck to Hoya filters. Good performance for the dollar. A good middle of the road brand. The more expensive brands may get you slightly better performance, but that is not always easy to tell with the naked eye. If you are looking for a reasonably priced brand of filters, would suggest you give Hoya's a shot.

I feel this is a far better filter than a UV filter for sunny outdoor photography. Trees are greener, the sky bluer and the filter takes the edge of harsh mid-day sun.I use it all the time though, not just for outdoor stuff.
This filter is not completely correctly named here on Amazon. It is a "Skylight 1B" filter.

The filter is well built and performs well. I must say that I bought the filter mostly for protection of the lens and did not expect the reduction of blue shades of sky and water which, in reality, is exactly its design purpose. I have not detected any distortions, vignette, or flare with the filter.

I bought this filtèr as protection for the front element of the lens. It's slim, doesn't affect the colour rendition or definition of the lens and was good value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars un bon produit essentiellement neutre

4.0 out of 5 stars Bought for the purpose ???
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 20, 2011
I purchased it to protect my panasonic camcorder lens but found it to be useless as It gave severe reflections and now have stopped using it but as filters go on other cameras Film/DSLRs they are great and will always use them to protect lenses as they are much cheaper to replace than a prime lens..
