Product Description
The RICOH THETA Z1 is the flagship model of this series, with RICOH deploying exceptional optical and image processing technologies, cultivated through years of high-performance camera development, to pursue its highest resolution and quality to date. The compact main body is equipped with a 1.0-inch back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, enabling approx. 23MP resolution 360-degree still images. It supports a diverse range of shooting modes, such as aperture priority, allowing users to take high-quality images regardless of the setting: outdoors, nighttime, indoors, tropical beaches or snowy mountain views - nothing is off limits. Moreover, it is possible to shoot considerably smooth and immersive 360-degree videos in 4K (3840x1920 pixels) and 30 frames per second (fps) thanks to powerful 3-axis rotational stabilization to compensate for rotational shake.

Let's take a look at design choices.
1. 19GB and no SD card slot. WITAF.
2. LENSES SCRATCH INCREDIBLY EASILY.
3. Battery life should be much larger
4. $999 MSRP and no premium case.
5. USB-C TETHER
6. Manfroto Tripod $Xtra
7. Lens protector $Xtra
8. Bad customer service from Ricoh
How to fix?
1-3-5 USB-C 10gbps SD storage, Charging, other means of using USB-C.
2. GOPRO HERO7 has a replaceable lens cover that protects the actual glass. Having bulging fisheye lenses with no means to protect/cover while on jobs is asking for trouble. Some companies are taking steps to improve this aspect alone. Ricoh is beht the times.
4. $999 for what? This should be priced $600 max. Premium proce tag and with stupid design choice.
6. This Tripod is how much?? You'd be better off not using it. Fully extended it's wobbly and will result in a tip over if you don't baby it. It's not job ready. Find a better tripod.
7. This case "protector" can scratch the lenses and indeed has for some people. Be careful.
8. Customer Service. Get ready for good times all night long. Still waiting on that call back Ricoh.
The only way I can use it is by itself without app, and then I don't frikcin' know what I am filming since it does not have its own native screen display for that.
This has been my worst investment in a camera, let alone a 360. I am throwing this piece of garbage away and going with something that can be practical and easy to use. To bad I had to give away $900. for this piece of crap!

Fantastic product.

I am using paired with the matterport app to create 3D virtual tours. Does the job well but the battery life is poor and the drain rate is pretty exceptional. I can be doing a property over three floors and by the third floor start to panic that it’s down to below 25%. About 1 hours work. I don’t mind that the battery is built in, many are. It’s the fact it’s not very powerful. In addition the 1/4 screw attachment is RIGHT next to the charge port, so you can’t charge whilst using (I’ve tried many adapters and they all cover the port) this is a material flaw in the design - surely put it on the side. The SD card is less of a problem, you can take 2240 images on this thing- who can’t manage that?! Are you scanning St. Paul’s cathedral?!
