Set it and Forget it
The car key-sized Garmin Dash Cam Mini is small enough to discreetly mount behind your rearview mirror. For added convenience, once you mount the dash camera on your windshield and plug it into the vehicle’s power source, it will automatically record and save video of incidents.
Convenient Connectivity
Built-in BLUETOOTH technology and Wi-Fi connectivity let you upload saved footage to your compatible smartphone running the Garmin Drive app. The Garmin Drive app is your convenient solution to view, edit and share your dash cam footage. If you use multiple Garmin dash cams to capture video in front of or behind your vehicle, the app uses Dash Cam Auto Sync to set up a network and sync recordings among the cameras. That way, if there is an incident, you can easily see the footage captured from multiple viewpoints. The app will also automatically combine and organize the media files so you can easily find and view them.

This camera gets very warm to the touch during use, but that's considered normal by the manufacturer - so no big deal. When I first tried to connect it to the computer and update it via Garmin Express, the program couldn't detect the camera no matter what I did. I then decided to connect the camera to the phone app and update it that way. The firmware seemed to be very out of date. Once updated, my computer recognized it easily.
Setup for the camera (via the app) is very easy. The "good" choices are already selected for you, and you can use the app to view and transfer videos as well as see what the camera "sees" (Live Preview) to make sure everything looks the way it should (since the camera doesn't come with a screen). You can also do things like enable/disable audio and format the SD care (purchased separately), but you can do that with the camera itself, too.
I was very happy with the 1080p video quality of the camera. License plates look clear, and everything looks overall very good. I equipped my camera with the Garmin Mini Suction Cup Mount (Garmin's website and the Amazon listing don't show it as being compatible with this camera - but it is. I've posted a review and a photo of the two together on the page for the suction cup mount). I also equipped it with a Garmin Polarized Filter Lens to reduce windshield glare. The lens works perfectly in daylight and makes the night time videos just a little darker (and yet, you can see details better). So, I'll leave the lens on as default.
I like that they included two different micro-USB cables in the box. One cable is positioned to point upward when plugged into the camera (for those who want to hide the wire in the trim of their vehicle) and the other is positioned downward (for those who just want it pointed straight down to where the vehicle's outlet is). Since I use the easily removable suction cup mount, I also use the cable that points downward. Everything can be installed/uninstalled in just a few seconds.
Again, this camera is for people who just want a dash cam (to basically prove that you did nothing wrong in the event of an accident) and aren't looking for all of the bells and whistles as the more expensive models. This is also the only "new" Garmin dash cam that uses a super-capacitor instead of a battery, so that was worth it. I consider super-capacitors a premium feature. Yes, batteries "last longer" when the camera is not plugged in, but if my camera is ever not plugged in, then I'm not planning to use it. The super-capacitor lasts long enough to save the video it's shooting once the camera loses power - and that's all that really matters.
Everything is working perfectly, so I'm extremely satisfied. If anything changes, I'll update the review!
The dash cam has a nice attractive size but it gets hyper hot to the touch and stops working after 10 or so minutes of usage. Also the car adapter supplied with the camera just burned after the first day of usage. The app android app does not work properly on a Sony XA2 with Android 9. Beware and read more reviews before purchasing this product.

Once again folks, I have been giving this product constant reviews, and I believe it's helpful to have a review over a period of time.
A summary: the product STILL GETS HOT, no matter what configuration you put in. The camera get so freaking hot it will shut down eventually. Unfortunately enough, I had to disassembly the camera *its out of warranty anyways* , and I was able to find that the MAIN CPU CHIP has a very Tinny heat sink that its attach to the casing of the camera. I had to purchase a separate heat conducting paste and apply it, also, I create something like a Frankenstein attachment that goes outside of the camera, that will allow the system to dissipate more heat. Juts to let you know, as the camera gets hotter, you will get blurry images... so, the resolution for getting licenses plate its gone. If you ask me better go for a very cheap camera, one that its worth 60 USD MAX, used it for a year and then replace it for a new one.

1. After using the product for several months now, I have come to several conclusion, the car adapter was not damaged as original stated, it was getting stuck, thus creating a bad mechanical and electrical connection with the car outlet, I had to give a big push and make a good solid connection, now is working perfectly fine.
2. The App was causing problems with the release of the Sony Xperia XA2 Android Version 9, fortunately enough, Sony launch a new software upgrade to correct minor defects on the OS, now the Garmin application run perfectly fine on the cellphone.
3. Camera getting hot:
This problem is still an issue, the camera is still getting hot, when I got the camera and installed the application software for the PC, I was able to connect the camera and make a FIRMWARE upgrade on the camera itself, this upgrade, does NOT eliminate the over heat issue, however, looks like the camera runs more efficiently and does not shut down during a long trip, however, the camera does shut down after 1 hour and 45 minutes, seems to be that putting the air conditioning helps in getting the camera to run a little bit hotter.
Don't get me wrong... the camera size and the picture quality are great, however, running the camera at such high temperatures (even if is within spec and according to automotive standards) could be risky.
Cheers

App works much better than most dashcam phone apps available today. Small form factor dashcam is discreet and doesn't get in the way. It's small yet it has just the right features I need - Parking mode, low power consumption (during parking mode), good quality video. What doesn't work so great and needs improvement: 1) Better management of recorded footage - wheres the option to delete parking mode videos? How about an indicator to show how much free space remaining on the SD card? 2) Camera unit runs HOT. Heat is conducted out the back cover so I attached a 1" square heatsink behind which helped a lot with the stability of the camera. 3) Parking mode cable should be included!
