Show your distinctive, wide point of view
The 24mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 (Model F051) makes it possible to shoot up close with a wide-angle lens. This lens is your key to the exciting universe of wide-angle photography. The wide-angle field-of-view provided by the 24mm focal length devours expansive scenery, landscapes and urban scenes; it’s the perfect general-purpose wide-angle lens! This versatile lens suits many different shooting styles, including candid snapshots. Because it’s light weight and compact, it’s easy to carry—and that’s a huge benefit when you have to pack light or for all-day shooting adventures. The MOD (Minimum Object Distance) is only 0.12m (4.7 in) so you can move in close and capture one-of-a-kind shots. The F/2.8 helps you to create unique close-ups with the lens’s impressively beautiful bokeh in the background. In addition to the F/2.8 aperture, the Model F051 is constructed using special glass materials including LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements effectively arranged to quash aberrations. The Model F051 provides outstanding optical performance across the entire frame, and delivers a sharp image, right down to the texture of the subject. With Moisture-Resistant Construction and dirt-resistant Fluorine Coating, photographers can shoot confidently outdoors. This lens opens a whole new, fascinating world of expression.
Superb image quality in an extra-wide-angle
This lens provides outstanding optical performance and overall image quality, characteristics relentlessly demanded from a prime, fixed focal lens. The expert arrangement of the LD and GM specialized glass elements greatly controls aberrations, including chromatic aberrations. Tamron’s proprietary BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating reduces ghosting and flare, which can otherwise occur when taking a photo against the sun. Moreover, leveraging your camera body’s features* it delivers, throughout the frame, high resolution performance that maximizes the benefits of the latest high-megapixel cameras. Whether shooting on the street, full-scale landscapes or architectural photography, this lens delivers exceptionally crisp, colorful and beautiful images and helps you fulfill your creative ambitions. *When shooting with the camera’s lens correction function enabled.
Get closer to your subject. As close as 0.12m.
One of the key features that makes this lens so exciting is its amazing ability to shoot close-ups. With this lens, you can get closer to an object than you’d ever imagined. At the 0.12m (4.7 in) MOD, the lens achieves its maximum magnification ratio of 1:2. You’ll never again be frustrated because you cannot get close to an object while shooting. This remarkable performance allows users to create compositions that exploit dramatic perspective (closer subjects are larger, and distant ones are smaller) and that are unique to wide-angle lenses. By getting close to an object, you can produce a one-of-a-kind photo and leverage the beautifully blurred background bokeh.

Customers are satisfied with the image quality of the lens. They mention that it makes up for that with really good image quality, fantastic photos, and excellent color and contrast. The bokeh is just ok, but it's enough to bring separation but not creamy. The image quality at this price is amazing, and the color and sharpness are surprising for such a cheap lens. It's nice and compact for both macro and landscape as a lens, and beautifully captured the controlled chaos of the moment.

I had owned a 24-40mm zoom years ago, and had appreciated its ability to capture a unique perspective for black & white landscapes on 35mm film and color slides. But on our latest mirrorless camera, the Sony A7C, it has demonstrated how a wide-angle lens can capture interesting elements in a busy scene without getting in anyone's face.
I'm going put down the teles, and mount this lens more often!

What isn't great is the ridiculously poorly designed lens mount that requires real force to mount on an A7 series camera. The other is the autofocus, which has difficulty in all lighting and with the slowest-moving of subjects. It's not just the speed but the accuracy and software seems amiss, here, somehow. Like the camera doesn't know what information it's getting, half the time. I suspect Tamron licensed this out to some company and just let them produce something they could cheap out on, aside from the good optics.
It's worth $199 - but be warned this isn't a street, party, event or infant lens. It's a flower, (dead) bug (on a calm day), canyon vista lens.
Love that it’s macro!!

Love that it’s macro!!

It's optically sharp, with very good contrast. And it focuses very close for interesting effects. The build quality is good, better than its price point.
The focus is on the slower side and while not noisy, it's not silent either. I'm OK with it but you may not be.
You know going in it's only an f2.8. What get for that slow speed is a small, portable lens which produces outstanding results and close focuses. Scores high on convenience.
Have fun out there.
The really close focus distance is a good bonus.
Sadly autofocus is not as good as I hoped and can be slow / hunty, and quite audible, it could be a dealbreaker for some but personally I can live with it.
It's an incredible lens for the price.

It's an incredible lens for the price.
Unica pecca manca la stabilizzazione, che su una lente pensata per stare sul gimbal sarebbe scelta azzeccata, ma non gliene facciamo un difetto.
Consigliata se presa al prezzo scritto sopra.
