4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 795 ratings

With this video book, you'll learn how to instantly find any picture in your library, fix common photography problems, clean up your images, add pop to boring pictures, retouch portraits, make gorgeous prints, create photo books, and even edit your home videos.
Tony goes beyond teaching you how to use Lightroom. Tony shows you why and when to use each feature to create stunning, natural photos. When Lightroom isn t the best tool, Tony suggests better alternatives.

Combining the benefits of video training and book learning, this video book gives you over 14 hours of video and dozens of free presets and raw images to practice with. If you learn better with video, watch the video training and refer to the book for quick reference. If you prefer reading, the book is concise and practical, and each chapter links to relevant videos when you want to understand a topic more deeply or see it used in the real world.

Tony covers every aspect of Lightroom in-depth, but structures his teaching so that both beginner and advanced photographers can learn as efficiently as possible. If you just want a quick start, you can watch the first video or read the first chapter and you'll be organizing and editing your pictures in less than an hour. If you want to know more about a specific feature, switch to that video or jump to that chapter in the ebook. If you want to know everything about Lightroom, watch the videos and read the book from start to finish.

1st impression is not good. I'll update later. They don't tell you is that you don't have access to everything it says you do, when you buy it on Amazon. You have to register your purchase with them separately, then wait for them to allow you access. This should be made clear before you buy.

I downloaded the Kindle version of this book and I like that I can read AND watch the videos that come with the book! The link to the videos was a little confusing to access. First you have to register your purchase and then you get an email stating you now have access to the online videos. Once on the website, I kept getting an error message that I didn't have access but I clicked on another link on the page and was able to see all of them. The videos are not boring! They are well-made and Tony is easy to watch and goes through every feature of Lightroom. I've learned so much about the program already and while watching on my Kindle I have Lightroom loaded on my computer and I can stop the videos and practice what I just learned! I like reading the book, but I get so excited about something I just read that I keep running to my computer to try it out. So the videos are great for me but the book is a great reference and has lots of detail. This has been a great investment and I have already gone back to re-do some photos that I adjusted previously while experimenting on my own. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to learn Lightroom but thinks it may be too advanced.

I was SO frustrated with Lightroom. Photoshop has been my Go-To editing software for YEARS. With all that folks were telling me about LR's superb organizational aspects, I had to give it a try. I was NOT a happy camper. There are just too many features embedded & I was missing most of the subtleties. Tony Northrup is an excellent presenter. I have trusted his observations on other content, and so turned to this book as my entry into fluency. I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED!!!!!!!!!! The text includes HOURS of video training not available on You Tube; the text becomes a great reference afterwards. Tony is clear and concise. He will begin a topic, offer an overview for context, and then later delve into greater depth when his viewer is ready. The order of his topics is well considered; his examples amplify the skill set he's speaking about. It's obvious he really knows his material, but he never makes me feel overwhelmed and lost. And I love his easy manner. Anyone needing to learn the intricacies of using Lightroom confidently--look no further. This is a fabulous learning experience!!!! It's worth 50 times more than its cost!!!

When I got more serious about photography a couple of years ago, I made the lucky decision to get Tony Northrup's Stunning Digital Photography Kindle book. It is still my "go to" field reference on my smartphone. The book was highly readable, he makes the complex simple and does it with good cheer. It has lots of video tutorials linked to it, so I'm able learn both ways, first from the book and then by him showing me how it's done. When his Lightroom 5 book was released, I jumped on that. Even though I had been using Lightroom for over 2 years, he taught me new tricks and seriously sped up my workflow and enhanced my ability to find image quickly. I also got the Lightroom 6 book as soon as it was released, because I had just subscribed to Creative Cloud. Hours and hours of video tutorials are also included in these Kindle books. And, each of these books are the best $10 you'll ever spend! I'd recommend anything by him and his wife Chelsea. They rock!

I liked the book well enough, it says that its training for photographers which I found somewhat misleading. The book covers a lot of things that a actual photographer would know already. The book is more designed for people who would like to be photographers as well as season photographers.

I am familiar with Lightroom, however there is always more to learn. That's why I purchase this book. I am finding there is still much to learn about lightroom. This book does offer a good amount of information that is definitely useful. Like a stated previously it's also designed for the person who knows nothing about photography or Lightroom. So I am finding myself skipping through large sections of the book to get to information actually pertaining to Lightroom.

I do recommend the book, but keep in mind depending on your skill level you will find yourself skipping or skimming through sections of the book. The QR codes throughout the book, are nice. However the videos are a little lengthy. It would have been nice if there were shorter videos that pertain to specific subjects, rather than the hour plus, long videos that seemed to drag on sometimes. I found it more useful to watch the videos on their own and skim through them. And to also use the book well at my computer focusing on sections of Lightroom pertaining to what I'm doing at the moment.

I have been a graphic designer in NYC for over 20 yrs and in that time I've worked side by side with many photographers and mastered almost all Adobe products...with the exception of Lightroom. I came across a YouTube video of Tony and Chelsea one day and after watching almost every episode, I've not missed an episode since! With that said, watching the 2 of them has sparked a passion to take my art and craft and expand my portfolio to include photography. Even with my knowledge of Adobe CS, Tony and Chelsea's book on Lightroom CC covered everything I needed to know (along with tons of extras) to produce beautiful pictures in post with speed and efficiency! Whether your a seasoned professional or just starting out, this book is an absolute must have if you want to produce quality work quickly and have fun doing it! I look forward to purchasing more programs from them and with the huge amount of content offered, the cost is almost too good to be true.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena introducción a Lightroom
Reviewed in Mexico on July 21, 2016
