I have a 6 string dean razor back I went straight to this and The Omen 8 has blown me away from Meshuggah to Animals As Leaders, the omen brings it. Clean tone is bright and crisp but still nice and warm. With Distortion in the mix the Omen 8 still brings the clarity to the table and plenty of it, Bridge and neck pickups are both killer tones. Bombing lows and singing highs, legato with ease when using the stock ernie ball strings (10-74) still tight even though it's not a baritone. Also she Stays in tune real nice. im in F 99 percent of the time so super nice to be able to pick up and play and not have to tune up all the time. That being said I have to downs for the Omen 8, it's not a baritone it would be an Axe from hell if it was. Also the cut away could be a bit deeper trying to get to the 20th fret and beyond was a little bit to get used to for me but maybe not for you. All In all this baby is a bargain and is a great peice to add to your arsenal.

Most reviews I've read with five stars, comes with a sentence like "for this price is great"... well this is not the case. I had more expensive guitars and they were not better than this one. This guitar is great, regardless the price. I had the 7 strings version last year and I still regret having it sold. The neck is this guitar is simply pristine. It's very easy to play with. The guitar sounds beautifully. Either jazz, hard rock or shreding metal, you can play whatever you want. There are no funny noises, no buzzing, keeps on tune for a long time... I am very happy with it. And the guitar just looks great.

I've owned much more expensive guitars than this. I grew up on 6-strings, graduated to a 7-string in college, and now here I am owning my first 8-string.

I bought mine in the vintage white color, and what a looker this guitar is. Photos on computer monitors just do not do it justice. It's got a high-gloss finish on the body but a natural finish on the neck, which I'm thankful for since necks with gloss finishes tend to be stickier.

It plays like a dream. The action's not too high nor too low, except maybe on the F# string, which is an easy fix. The pickups aren't too muddy or too bright, whether you're playing clean or distorted.

I've rated it 3 stars out of five in the category "For beginners," because what beginner picks up an 8-string? If you're just moving up to an 8-string, you won't find a better guitar for the money, or realistically more money even. But I wouldn't want to learn to play guitar on an 8-string.

Shipping was decent; the packaging provided adequate protection and Schecter include little tools to help set up the guitar in the case that it didn't come set up properly.

Mine came slightly out of tune in the higher strings, and the action is a little low on the F# like I said, but that doesn't impact the quality of the guitar. It's the best-looking, best-performing guitar I currently own.

the potentiometers aren't working after a few months, turns out they shipped the guitar with bolts, looser than the biggest goose, as it hadn't been inspected since 2012, now I got a piece of junk on my hands. Thanks Schecter, you guys suck.

I never thought I would be reviewing a guitar I bought through amazon, but this is very nice for the price! The neck feels extremely comfortable, and if you’ve never played an 8 string before I think you’ll be very impressed. I have a custom made Kiesel 8 string that I love, and while this is not quite the same it still feels and plays like a dream. I had to set up and intonate the guitar to my liking, but the out of the box setup was really good too. Amazing guitar !!

Out of all my instruments, this is probably my favorite. Though that is probably partial to the fact that this is also my most expensive instrument. It plays well and was set up almost perfect from the factory.

PROS
Good intonation
Plays fast
Straight neck
Great sustain and tone
Stays in tune well
Beautiful guitar!

CONS
Strings are very close together (though some might like this, it makes it a little more difficult to play chords without accidentally muting one or two or the strings)
Its a little heavy but not so much to make it unwieldy.

Over all this is a great guitar. The single tone knob combine with the 3 way pickup selector allows for everything from a bright punchy tone to a more warm jazzy tone. I really like the finish; up close you can see the wood grain and the satin finish isn't as much of a finger print magnet as other polished finishes (im not a fan of shiny guitars). Well built and plays well. I would definitely recommend.

This thing sounds amazing. Extremely good value for $450. I transitioned from a 6 string and it’s a little awkward at first but you get used to it very quickly.

And yes, it djents.

The product was shipped right on time as it mentioned at the cart check out.

It had very minor cosmetic damage, but it was unnoticeable. My advice is to definitely change the strings that come with it it as it can get really floppy.

The guitar plays and looks amazing!! I was blown away by how clear the clean tones sound with the stock pick ups. I really planned on having an 8-string guitar on budget as I play groove / death / modern metal (Meshuggah!!), and this was my final choice and I don't regret it at all. You get more than what you want for the budget.

Thank You Schecter!!

Definitely recommend this!!
