Earlier: Weird that some came without the rings already on the capo. Mine was all put together, but the rings were black, not clear like I've read. The whole thing is black and it's a good looking little capo. The rings, which you adjust for your guitar (I wonder if Mr. "Don't Work" figured that out), are a neat idea and definitely work. And if you've mounted the capo and you're still getting some buzz, just adjust the screw a little tighter and the buzz will go away. I've never seen a stronger clamping capo. BTW, to me these look huge in the pictures. They're actually very small, about the same size as a Shubb.
Works great!
1. Took a great deal of effort
- after using a quality (no petroleum, no wax) fret cleaning oil to lubricate the bar before putting on the rings, they finally went on.
- took about 20 minutes to get it set up on the 7th fret (hotel california)
- took another 20 minutes to move the rings to a position that would allow me to move the capo between the 2nd and 7th fret without too much effort, but it requires a lot of close work.
2. Most guitar necks vary in width from top to bottom of the fretboard. Therefore the rings will be ideal in one position, and useless in another, until you figure out how to position them so they will be over the -range- of locations for that string. Your results may vary, as necks also vary.
3. If my 12 string Kyser under-performs as I expect it may, I will order another of these. One will be my "upper" capo, the other my "lower" capo, and it will be well worth it because this is the first time (tried 5 or 6 kinds, including the disappointing G7th capo - admittedly 6 string, but this thing should tune my guitar for what they cost) there was no buzzing and my guitar (12 string LP copy) was in nearly perfect tune with the Paige capo.
Update on Kyser 12-string capo. Works great too! Kind of surprised but it manages to hold fat and skinny pairs of strings down well without needing the little round tires. Might be the slightest buzz but hard to be sure. The Paige may be slightly better on that because you can adjust the tightness.
But - the edge that Kyser has over Paige is that I can line up the end of the Kyser so it covers the pair of 1st strings (high E) just enough, and that puts the capo's profile slightly behind the neck profile, meaning I can hold a chord without bumping into the capo beneath the neck. That isn't critical, but it's a LOT more comfortable. I guess people can get used to it. I never have. As low-profile as Paige is, the Kyser can be set to have virtually no profile (on the bottom). That said, it takes a steady hand and close eye to get it just right. If the band is waiting for you, they might resort to hurling beer bottles before you get it perfect. Fair warning, practice before then.
4. Paige could do a much better job documenting the process for setting this thing up. Their instructions are pared down to fit the back of the small package.
5. Another reason for a backup is that the little latch that holds the bar in place seems extremely flimsy and I expect it will break in time. I am going to be very careful with it. Some parts are replaceable but the latch probably isn't.
6. For the people who call it a "flawed design," I agree with their reasoning - it is not a perfect solution, but not their conclusion. It is an excellent design working within limitations of cost and a wide variety of necks. You do need to use a little ingenuity, or find a friend who has more than you, to get this set up properly. But it can be done.
I have owned and used almost every kind and style of guitar capo over the years.
I play 6 and 12 string on both electric and acoustic.
This one might be a slight bit slower to put on the guitar, but once on can be easily adjusted to any fret position without removal and when not in use loosened a turn or two and slid up above the nut.
String pressure is easily adjusted unlike those capos with coil springs like big workshop clamps.
Functionally that means you can use JUST ENOUGHT screw tension on the strings to capo without affecting intonation and tuning. The bar is arched slightly like the fretboard curve and fits evenly across the strings on my 12" radius boards.
Having to retune after placing, removing or moving a capo is reduced markedly or eliminated as a result.
This is the second one I have purchased.
The only other 12 string capo I like is the G7th capo with notched face rubber for the string offset.
Unfortunately the mechanism to set and release the bar is tiny and difficult to manage — not ideal for putting on/off during a performance

Utilisé pour une guitare folk Takamine, il bloque bien les cordes uniformément.
Il est un peu cher c'est certain, mais c'est de la qualité et fini les grésillement connu avec les low cost.
I have tried numerous other items, but they all leave me with a dead 12th string or dead 1st string.
But not this one. This capo is the best.
I holds the strings down evenly across the capo, so that all of the strings sound perfect.
So happy.......it has been the bane of my life until now.
I will probably buy one or two spares, because this construction does the job, and I don't want to lose this capo.
Thanks for creating a quality accessory.
