Product Description
14 Stackable Reverbs with Adjustable Spillover From angelic shimmer to Bauhaus indie ambience, the Source Audio Ventris is your ticket to just about any reverb style your evolving appetites desire. Onboard, you'll find 14 fully realized selectable stereo reverb engines, which can be stacked two at a time, and enough controls to please even the choosiest reverb fanatic. Two massive and totally independent 56-bit signal processors are the key to the Ventris's flawless signal path. An expression pedal input gives you real-time control of up to three parameters at once. You can even deep dive and save favorites for instant recall using the free Neuro Editor desktop or mobile app. A feature GearNuts reviewers particularly enjoyed is the adjustable spillover control, which preserves reverb tails even as you switch modes. Whether you're out to stake new claims in sonic landscapes or plumb new depths of classic drip and room reverbs,

1) Tone. Each reverb option is unique from the next...as it should be. Where it separates from the others is how unique each one is from any other. The Eventide and Empress options are great but more money and for extras that I do not need . The depth of tone really defined a unique character to each reverb algorithm where one can distinguish it without looking at the pedal. The "mojo" was greater than the Strymon options ...it had more character and stands in a class all by itself.
2) Ease of use. The learning curve is easy and dynamic. Presets? Yes but I don't even use any as the tones are so distinguishable and the interface so user-friendly that much of what I do is easy to commit to memory. In contrast to the Oceans 12, which as a few shortcomings that really keeps it from standing with the market-makers, everything is easy to read and in a short time I developed a system to how all options worked together and what I would be getting.
3) Quality. The Ventris defines the standard in a sturdy casing. There is zero noise and all of these reverbs are usable as textures in developing melodic soundscapes and soloing for effect and melody.
Note: I tried them all and really thought I was going to buy the Boss RV-500, That is a great reverb unit also but falls way short in difference in expression between certain algorithms and the digital interface is way more cumbersome than the "quick set and no commit to memory" Ventris.
I will admit that I also love the Neunaber Immerse MKII for both tone and quality( lack of options is a detractor) and their Illumine machine came out the week before I bought the Ventris.

You can hear the detail in each reverb engine - it is such a lush, sophisticated sound. Getting the sounds I want are mostly done right on the pedal itself - just turning knobs. But I occasionally use the app to download some presets that others have made. I also really enjoyed the ability to swap off one of the stock reverb engines that I don't use often, to replace it with the Outboard Spring engine - a bonus reverb that sounds exactly like a Fender 6G15.
Some other things I love about this pedal are the mix knob - going from dry to 100% wet, the time knob which can give ridiculously long trails, and the pre-delay knob which is often in the form of a switch in other pedals.
I run this pedal in the Aux loop of a mixer, and there is plenty of headroom in this line-level setup. I'm very pleased with this.
