Red Alert 3 introduces new units and a brand new faction..
Intriguing Plot Twists
In previous games, the war between the Allies and Soviets was coming to a close with the Allies nearing victory. In desperation, the Soviets created a time-travel device that they've used to assassinate Albert Einstein before he is able to develop the weapon technology the Allies later use to defeat the Soviets. Upon returning, they notice a new world, and there is a world war taking place between three groups for control of the world.

Play As Three Different Factions for Varied game play
In Red Alert 3, you have the choice to play as the Allies, the Soviets, or the Empire of the Rising Sun. Each faction has its own story-line and distinct units with advantages and disadvantages that you have to master in order to win. The new faction to the series is the Empire of the Rising Sun, derived from Imperial Japan, with an all-new cast of units and characters.

The three factions have many differences, exemplified by their wildly different types of units. The Soviets, for example, have armored attack bears, Allies have the Dolphin ship which can high jump and use a sonic attack, and the Empire of the Rising Sun features such quirky units as a giant transforming mecha and ninjas. As they've done with the series, EA injects humor into the game when possible, keeping a smile on your face as you wage war.

Fight on Land, in the Air, and on Sea
Red Alert 3 has land units, air units, and naval units, all integral parts of the game. Unlike most strategy games that don't bother with naval warfare, Red Alert 3 makes controlling the seas an essential part of the game. Controlling resources in the seas and mounting attacks from all directions are strategies that must be employed to achieve victory.

Cooperative Mode Lets You Team Up with Your Friends
Red Alert 3 has a fully co-operative campaign mode where you and a friend can play together to achieve victory. This means that you have to develop a strategy together, as well as execute it in synch in order to win. If your friends aren't online, you can also choose one of several AI commanders as your teammate.

Play Against Your Friends in Multiplayer
With the different units and play mechanics of each faction, you and your friends will have a great time playing against each other, perfecting different strategies to best suit the units you have and the maps you play on. And thanks to the balanced game play, no one will have an unfair advantage.

For previous fans of Command and Conquer, Red Alert 3 will provide the same light-hearted game play, but with more units, more strategies, and more fun. Newcomers to the game will soon see what all the fuss and laughter is about.

PROS:
1) Great story line. Real world war history applied. This time the Soviet traveled back in time -> killed Albert Einstein -> no Einstein = no nuclear weapon -> Japan never got nuked (back in World War II) -> Japan got stronger! -> Now the world has 3 dominant superpowers: Allied, Soviet, and Japan.
2)REAL cut scene sequences played by REAL HOLYWOOD actors. Beautiful and sexy female officers provide intels and real-time strategy advices. They kept me HOOKED throughout the entire Campaign mode.
3)Graphic (when set to Ultra High) are remarkable, especially the Water Quality.
4)Co-op mode enable the users to play with friends in the Campaign (like Resident Evil 5). If not, AI Commander will take over.

CONS:
1) Texture and structure graphic are not much of a different from Red Alert 2. Although I have no issue with that.
2) Online infrastructure is too simple. It is built with tradition principle invite and join room. I prefer automatic search and join function like Call of Duty Modern Warfare series. That way, it is less hassle to look for and invite so many AFK co-op players in the room.

All in all, a very good game created with a carefully written story line. Would recommend to buy! Hope this helps.

Most of the reviews written for this game are pretty terrible, but solely because of the lousy DRM scheme EA applied to this game at launch. After installing and patching the game, I found that I can deactivate a computer at any time, which means I'm not limited to the 5 activations EA initially restricted this game to, so long as I remember to deactivate my computer before upgrading it or installing the game to a new computer.

As for the actual game itself, I find it to be quite fun. The different build systems for each faction definitely make it different from most of the Command and Conquer games I've played thus far. The graphics are a bit more cartoonish than previous installments of Command and Conquer, and the whole Communist propaganda thing is actually pretty amusing. If there's one complaint I do have, it's the lack of unit variety. Sure, the amount of units is adequate, but when I'm sending my troops out to attack the enemy, I always feel like there's something I'm missing in my assault. I never got that feeling when playing Command and Conquer 3.

Overall, this is a fun game and fans of the series should pick it up if you haven't already. With the whole DRM thing more or less solved, I think it's worth a buy.

I sort of like the new look of the Red Alert 3. It's a bit more cartoon like but the game play was great. I haven't run into any problems with the DRM problems yet but that's because I haven't had to redo an installation yet. (I usually don't redo systems unless I up grade or install a new OS which is coming up soon.) The game played great on my system. (P4 2.8 gig, Nividia Geforce 6200 512 Mg video, 4 gig RAM) and I see no problem with running it on a system slightly below mine. So that should be no problem at all on an higher end system. As far as the story line goes, I really didn't expect the storyline to stay the same anyway. The only negative I can see is if one makes frequent changes to the system, then they could run into problems on the limited number of installations allowed. (BTW: I feel this really doesn't make sense to me to hit the person buying the game for what some other people are doing. Instead it seems required the original disk be in the drive sounds like a better way to protect the rights holder.) Overall, I like this game. Much better than "downloading" the games as in "Ultimate Command & Conquer" where you don't get a physical disk with the games on it.

I have played the Red Alert Franchise since the first game was released. I thought that this game was not going to be as good as previous games because Westwood Studios did not produce RA3, but instead EA Games Los Angeles did. However, this is simply not the case. The game brings about a lot of humor, decent actors in cut scenes, and a comical yet saddening story of time travel gone wrong. Not to mention the graphics have gotten an overhaul, the music is intense when playing, and there is so much to do within the game. You can even build your whole base on water! Even each unit says something different when clicking different things and when I picked up on this, I thought it was very cool. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars because the price was definitely worth it and every time I play I get a chill of nostalgia because I played most of the games in this franchise when I was younger and this particular one did amaze me with all of the improvements made, but they did not make it too complex, which was my biggest worry.
