1) Battlefield 3 (FPS)
2) Skyrim (RPG)
Battlefield 3 is incredible. I would have been happy if they just added more maps to BC2. I was part of the alpha and beta test teams by which the game content was limited to one map (metro) and one game style (rush) and to tell you the truth I was a little worried during the testing. I was particular concerned about the re-addition of the prone position as well as the introduction of the suppressive fire effect. Both have proven to be valuable additions, but took some getting used to.
I got this on release day through Amazon's release-day delivery. I couldn't believe how the production release was even better than BC2. It takes everything great in BC2 and makes it better. If you're not trying to level in your MO, you're trying to unlock the next weapon or vehicle add-on or get to the next rank. You earn add-ons for each weapon/vehicle the more you use the weapon/vehicle. It's a cool game system.
Vehicles include helis, jets, tanks, mobile AA, LAVs, Jeeps and more. You can drive or take control of the side guns on each.
The single player game is not very long, but is really fun.
This game is definitely built around the multi-player aspect. There is nothing like this in the FPS genre.
The graphics are incredible. I play with an i7-960 and 2xGTX580s in SLI and easily hit 100fps with every detail and AA cranked. There is no other game that matches this. It's beautiful.
The 7.1 surround sound shakes the house. The sound is also great on a G35 headset. The sound is more realistic and better than that of BC2.
They did an exceptional job of balancing the four different jobs: assault, engineer, support, and scout.
Multiplayer matches go up to 32 v 32 players!
I've played on various monitors. It looks great on 60Hz monitors, 120Hz monitors, and is good on nvidia 3D vision compliant monitors, though playing in 3D takes some getting used to (I still prefer the 2D at 120Hz). I've also turned down the details and it still looks great so I'm confident it will run great on an i5 or i7 1366/1156/1155 setup with a GTX460 video card or above.
The only downside is the launcher is a little clunky, through a browser and not the traditional full-screen we're used to. It often will take around 60 seconds to actually join a game. I do not like this aspect of the game compared to BC2, but it does not detract from the fun of the gameplay.
There are plenty of servers to choose from with varying player skill levels. I use the server browser, choose the criteria for the game type of which I'm looking and sort by ping speed. I can almost always find at least 5 servers with a ping speed less than 25ms with 32+ players.
I can't say enough about this game. Also, contrary to information in other reviews, the lead development platform for this game was the PC platform. If you have capable hardware, the graphics on the PC are far superior to those of the console.
--- update 12/16/2011 ----
I want to play more Skyrim, but I can't tear myself away from Battlefield 3. It's incredible. It's pretty much all I play when I get time. They just released a slew of new maps. The only negative about this game is the game launcher. It is clunky. I'm not talking about the options screen, I'm talking about just starting up the game. Once the game's started up, you can adjust options, loadouts, controls, and other things no problem. The mechanism for simply starting the game, though, is browser-based and far from polished.
Other than that, the game play is excellent and addicting.
--- update 09/26/2012 ----
After over a year's worth of playing this game (I was part of the Alpha testers) I still find it hard to play anything else. Every four months or so, they release new maps that add a twist to the game play and additional vehicles and weapons. Really, when you make a good game, you don't want to change it too much. So I think they could just keep adding maps for years to come. This alone keeps the gameplay fresh.
--- update 03/14/2013 ----
There is still no game that compares. My PC is now a BF3 gaming machine. The just added End Game multi-player maps. With these, there are around 30 different multi-player maps and around 10 game modes. This game is incredible. I always said if they continued to just add content to an already great game, it would continue to sell and keep people playing. This is exactly what they've done with BF3 and more. Along with the multi-player maps, they added two modes with this map release; 'Capture the Flag' and 'Air Superiority' are simply a blast. I played across 3 screens in Nvidia surround for a few weeks. This was pretty cool, but I still prefer my no input lag, no tear experience on the 120Hz monitor. 1.5 years later, this is still my favorite game of all time.
I am now playing with an i7-3930K and 2xGTX 680s in SLI. Just an incredible visual and gaming experience. Nothing compares.
Now, as for Battlelog, I do not understand what all the fuss is about. Yes, it launches in a web browser, and I suppose that is a little weird, but it works fine! It's really no different from launching from within the game itself. I use Firefox, and have had no trouble with it either. Additionally, the Battlelog stats are awesome, and it's fun to see how you are doing with overall score, unlocks, k/d ratio, and to be able to compare it to others. I also appreciate the ability to log in from another computer to see stats or show them to friends.
One negative I did experience was a bug that caused the game to crash at the end of nearly every multiplayer match. I updated video drivers, adjusted some game and origin settings, but nothing worked. Finally, after doing some research I came across a forum which suggested uninstalling Asus Gamer OSD. I did so, and this got rid of the problem completely. Aside from this issue, I have encountered no bugs or random crashes.
Now, onto the actual gameplay. I can pretty much reconfirm what all the major reviews are saying: the multiplayer is amazing, dynamic, and fun, but the single player is "bleh". The multiplayer feels very well balanced with 4 different classes to choose from. The unlocks come quickly enough to keep you interested and playing, but not so quickly that you lose interest. This is the part of the game that everyone is buying it for, and, trust me, it stands up to the hype.
The single player leaves a lot to be desired. It almost plays like a technology demonstrator to show off the graphics (and, holy cow, they are amazing!). There are scenes in the single player which gave me a great big grin (for instance, the launch off the carrier deck in the F/A-18), and the AI is reasonably intelligent. However, the single player falls short in three critical areas: lack of a compelling story, lack of compelling characters, and some of the most linear/scripted gameplay I've ever experienced. The story revolves around a terrorist that is trying to use a train to blow up a high value target, but the story meanders quite a bit and feels like a series of disconnected episodes. The characters are incredibly flat and two dimensional. You just don't care about any of them. Gameplay is structured very rigidly with the game determining the pace, not the player. Advance too quickly and you get shot dead, and advance too slowly and you have to deal with missing objectives or endless respawns. There are also a lot of the "press spacebar to kill this dude" type scenes. *Yawn* Might as well just show a cut scene for all the interaction those provide. All of these gameplay choices will endlessly remove you from the immersion and remind you that you are only playing a game. This is a shame, as Dice could created such an amazing single player campaign from this engine.
Despite the shortcomings of the singleplayer campaign, I still highly recommend this game due to the amazing multiplayer features and the absence of the troubles which hampered the game's launch. The multiplayer is simply lots of fun and quite addictive. If you happen to enjoy first person shooters, I highly recommend this game. Don't be afraid to buy it!

Cod
It is the normal (regular) edition not the premium...
Fair price and fast shipping. I wasnt able to replace the product for the
one that I paid for.
So 3 stars !
