    Cheap, Silent, Cooler for 5900x
Product was ok to install. It requires precise hands to place the spacers on the back of the motherboard before installation and to keep the cooler in place while tightening on to the CPU. It's not the easiest, but it isn't a huge hassle where you'd be worried about harming your CPU. Pre-applied thermal paste on the Arctic AM4 makes install a lot less messy than usual too.Of course, there is no sound, so noise level is great. Only maintenance is blowing off the fins every once and a while.I'm currently using this product in an small form factor PC as a semi-passive cooler. I have 2 fans blowing from below directly up through the Arctic cooler and 2 above exhausting air. With this configuration in a WinterOne PC case, I can keep my AMD 5900x from thermal throttling under 100% load. This is a 47W-Rated cooler that can and is currently cooling a ~130W CPU. If you have a PC case that provides substantial airflow with case fans and you want a silent, cheap, and small CPU cooler, look no further.

There's a couple of passive coolers out there in the world but you are NOT gonna find one as affordable as this. It works absolutely perfectly with the ryzen 1200, which, despite being rated at 65w tdp uses around 30 watts and the system temperature stays very low.

In fact. My system doesn't have ANY air flow at all and after slowly raising in temperature over several hours of stress testing, it doesn't even heat up past 80C. A single fan literally anywhere would probably keep it under 50 degrees.

Used this with an Athlon 200GE. It can be a little challenging to install but it works great. Granted I do have a (silent, low RPM) case fan pulling air over it, but the CPU maxes out around 55C.

Just for grins I unplugged the case fan, and a prime95 stress test puts it at 65C after 10 minutes, without throttling, which isn't bad at all (a prime95 torture test generates more heat than nearly any real-world workload would).

I really wanted this to work. It did not fit my Asus p45 board though. Install was from the back so I had to remove my board. I was sad.

The product itself is so nice otherwise. Maybe I can use it in another board..

I know for a fact that this is a very good passive cooler. It’s not really efficient for higher intensity programs/games, but very good for less intense tasks/games. However, I was unable to install the cooler in a recent build for an office computer due to the screw orientation and lack of included screws, which was annoying (so I simply installed a stock cooler and case fans as a temporary solution).

I ended up using these in my 2U servers with ASROCK Rack AM4 motherboards. One in a pfSense box and another in a windows server. They do interfere slightly with the vReg heatsink below the CPU socket but cutting off one row of fins easily left about 1mm of clearance without much trouble.

These are amazing In any 2U chassis with decent airflow. My "hotter" Ryzen 7 2700 idles at 30c and full load hits about 52c all without having to use a noisy 60mm 2U cooler. Thank you Arctic, for this simple, reliable and massive chunk of anodized aluminum. If you have good airflow in a server chassis don't hesitate to buy these.

I used this as part of a socket am4 home nas build that replaced an aging socket am1 system. This is definitely geared for low power builds, and someone with a higher-wattage CPU should look at a higher-capacity cooler. Even though the rated tpd of the athlon 200ge is 35w, it actually seems to be around 20w. This heatsink definitely exceeds the cooling requirements of my CPU. I was initially concerned that this cooler wouldn't clear the VRMs on my motherboard, but the bottom face of the cooler angles away from the surface of the motherboard, and it fit just fine. That might not be the case for motherboards with tall heatsinks on the VRMs. It is a simple lump of machined aluminum, so there isn't really much that can go wrong once installed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my Ryzen 2600
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 5, 2019
Please note that this cooler is only rated for TDP of 45 watts. So it's not supposed to be used on a Ryzen 5 2600. However I decided to take a chance and give it a shot. My Ryzen 5 2600 quickly went up to 95 degrees and throttled to remain relevant. However this is because I didn't have any fans in the case. As a result it heated up the motherboard and the M.2 NVME too. However I have since put a single case fan in, and it only goes at 400RPM so it's dead silent, but it's getting some airflow through the case, and it has since dropped to about 75-80 degrees. Which while warm, is perfectly fine and within operating temperatures. Note this is while gaming on the Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey, not idle (or full load). Results will definitely vary. But I'd say if you have even some airflow through your case, then this is a great CPU cooler due to its silence (so long as you don't mind its appearance).
