I highly recommend to anyone that cant decide on a LGA2011v3 CPU. Like I said it only has 28 lanes and it does very well with my SLI setup. If you are doing M.2 or PCIe storage setups along with SLI, I would recommend a 5930k or better with 40 lanes. However, if you only want 1 GPU and the M.2 or PCIe storage, the 5820k can handle it with no issues.

Adobe Lightroom 5 and 5820K:
I bought this to procces RAW files from multiple DSLR, since Im a full time event and wedding Photographer. About 5000 in average per wedding, and almost 1000 per typical events, and that is a lot of Files to feed the CPU.
Since LR5 mainly uses CPU power, over GPU or whatever, the 5820K its the key component of my PC Build, and this thing delivers. More CPU power that LR5 can handle (that its the sad part).
LR5 only uses at maximum 45% of the CPU power... mostly 25% only. So I`d reached the maximum speed of this software, cant run any faster, or at least my RAM, SSD and HDD cant feed him that fast. I hope that the future versions of Adobe Lightroom take the juice out of this awesome CPU.
WARNING:
Be advise, this CPU do not include Heatsink or Cooler Fan. Although this CPU doesnt generate much heat, and any cooler will do, I recommend to add at your cart the "Cooler Master EVO 212" Fan, it will keep the CPU cool even with a little overcloacking. If you are thinking in overcloaking the crap out of it, like 4.0 Ghzs (yes it can get to that), go for the "Noctua NH-D14".
Enjoy the power!

Coming from a Intel Q6600 2.4GHz processor from 2007, to this thing is like night and day. Coupled with some DDR4 @2.4GHz (Which is all the X99 and this processor accept) and a Samsung SSD, Windows 8.1 boots in under 10 seconds. And when I say boot, I mean from a cold start to actually having Steam/Origin up and ready to play games. Simply outstanding.
Using a SSD and the same video card from my old machine, I was getting around 20FPS in Battlefield 4 on Medium settings. Using the same SSD and same video card (basically only updating the CPU/RAM/MOBO) I'm now pushing around 100FPS on Ultra 1080p. 90% of that boost is because of this CPU (the other 10% being the updated ram and mobo of course)
I was going to build a new Skylake rig, but with some research, (and for the money), I felt I was better spending it on an X99 rig. I went with an ASUS X99 Deluxe II Motherboard, which can easily overclock this CPU to high and stable levels. So, I feel like I got a 6 core Skylake for a slight premium, and let's not forget about the 28 PCI lanes as well. For the money, you cannot beat this CPU for the performance it offers.
I also feel that for this time and place, this CPU is a better value than the new Broadwell-E CPU, which simply does not offer much improvement and does not seem to overclock as well, at least according to the few reviews I have read on it.

The only downfall with this chip is the X99 chipset and the motherboards. This is actually my second chip, as my first only lasted 5 months (due to motherboard faults). I was running the 5820k @ 4.0GHz on a Asus X99-S with Antec HCP-1300.
During normal desktop usage, I had a fatal fault with my system. Upon troubleshooting, the PSU and motherboard AND processor was dead. There were no physical defects on the chip, or on the power supply cables (they're modular, I examined the used leads, no burns or charred pins. Replaced cables and nothing). If you google X99 VCCIN manufacturing fault you'll see results with all different motherboards and chips. I reached out to all 3 companies.
Intel got back to me within 48 hours of my first email/RMA request during the weekend. I sent my chip on tuesday, and received a new chip on friday morning. Some of the best customer support I've ever received.
Asus would not accept responsibility and would not provide an RMA on the motherboard as the serial key was not recognized on their RMA website?? They refused to RMA my board and told me to talk to my seller. Eventually got my refund after 2 months of chasing it up with an independent seller
Antec did not respond to my RMA request or any emails within 3 weeks. I desperately reached out to Amazon as they sold me my PSU and they got me sorted out with a replacement within the same week. Very pleased with Amazon as always, excellent customer support with a very helpful representative.
- Mémoire vive Corsair Vengeance LPX (4x8GB) en DDR4 (2133Mhz) 32 Go
- Carte mère Asus X99-A Carte mère Intel ATX socket 2011 V3 (super bien pensé, le bios est simple d'utilisation)
- Un SLI de GTX 660 Ti (que je vais bientôt changer car les jeux deviennent très gourmands)
- SSD MX200 500 Go.
