UPDATE 2: Brought back to 5 stars! The moment I contacted support, they sent out a new one, no questions asked! I'd give Logitech 6 stars if I could (although I hope the refurb one they sent doesn't crap out in 2.5 years as well).
I previously had a UtechSmart Venus, which I replaced with a wired Razer Naga 2014, which I then replaced with this guy. The Venus was fine, but the Naga had cooler buttons... but it had tracking issues, which is how I ended up with the Logitech G600. Although its buttons aren't mechanical, they're large, textured, angled, and very easy and comfortable to use. The up and down buttons are at very different heights so it's easy to know which is which, and the entire mouse fits so comfortably in my palm. The one wonky thing is just the right side button (note that this is obviously a right-handed mouse), which rests under your ring finger - I pressed this a few times when using it and ended up disabling it in the Logitech Gaming Software, since 12 side buttons + 2 up/down buttons + 2 left/right scrolls are plenty enough for me now, thank you very much. However if I ever decide to automate my entire computer with my mouse, maybe I'll re-enable the G-shift function, which allows for additional side button binds. That being said, the scroll wheel is very satisfying to use and is very stiff compared to the Razer Naga's. While this isn't too great for scrolling down hundreds of pages of documents, it's very good for controlled scrolling while gaming.
The software for this is probably a bit better than Razer Synapse's, which gave me tracking issues. Logitech Gaming Software is well-designed and really easy to use, and its game-detection works well as well. I also enjoy having more than just green light to choose from, as that pairs well with my Corsair K70 RGB. However, one oddity is that there is a "mode" wheel with three choices - I originally thought that that only entailed lighting switches but guess what? It's actually three button binding modes... per profile. With their own individual lighting settings. Which is excessive. Especially since there's G-shift. But you know, if you wanted 2x12x3=72 different side binds per game so you can almost type the entire alphabet out three times, more power to you, right?
Admittedly, LGS isn't perfect. When I alt-tab out of games it has a habit of not switching back to the game binds until I alt-tab out and back in again. While this isn't an issue with most games, it does bug me in fast-paced multiplayer games like League of Legends or CS:GO, where I have a lot of important functions bound to side buttons. I've died or made hilariously terrible plays many times while mashing my side buttons, only to realize that they weren't bound correctly because I alt-tabbed to change my music. I think there's a way to get around this though, using Logitech's persistent profile settings or whatever. Either way it's not a huge deal.
If you move around a lot but also like to take your profiles with you, you can save I think three profiles to the mouse's hardware, but don't quote me on that.
Anyways, if you're looking for a mouse with extra buttons and you've got $40 to spare, get this. It's pretty great, and the Logitech software is highly customizable. It might look like a mechanical alien hiding in a shell, but you can bind the entire alphabet onto the mouse. Which is pretty cool.
-Reviewed from my Logitech G600 Gaming Mouse
I wanted a great "all-around" mouse for all types of gaming and also for web browsing and image work. After taking the time to program some functions into the side panel, I began to really enjoy using this mouse. I had buttons to open my music player....the control panel....cut and paste, all without any more effort than moving my thumb. MMO gaming is also much improved without having to hunt for keys while using spells.
The scroll wheel feels great, unlike logitechs other mice, and I don't miss the "free wheel" option at all.
There are a few niggles.....but this mouse is better than anything else I've tried.
I would've preferred an optical sensor over a laser....but so far I turned off the onboard memory and I've had no issues.
I wish the grip would've been more rubbery, but I think some skateboard tape or something similar will be an easy, cheap fix for the grip.
I disliked the position of the grip at first, but I modified the way I held it and now its as comfortable as anything else I've ever used and its about 20 times more customizable.
I kind of hold it diagonally and hook my thumb at the bottom left of the keypad and pinch against it with my pinky, then just barely press the center of my palm into the left rear side of the mouse. I guess I'm using kind of a hybrid fingertip grip . I dislike the traditional "palm grip" or "claw grip".
Other mice I tried but just didn't quit get along with:
Logitech MX518-the shape is nice, but I disliked the lack of buttons. Some people find this a non-issue....I'm not one of those people. Also, it just randomly started disconnecting while moving the mouse, so It was time to start shopping.
The g400 was a repeat of the 518 with cheaper materials.
The g500 had buttons that were too small.
The g602 was pretty cool, but I dislike wireless anything. Batteries and lag issues suck.
The g700 is ok, but the thumb button placement felt odd and it, along with all of these other models, just felt cheap and "plasticky". The scroll wheels on all of these were terrible.
Razer-The Naga Hex, Naga 2013, Naga 2014, Death Adder and Taipan all had a really great contour to them, but I was wary of their synapse software after reading so many bad reviews about it....and the mice, while comfortable, felt kind of "cheap" to me. There also seems to be a double click issue (possibly on the g600 as well)....but, that's what warranties are for. I'll cross my fingers.
Roccat-Kone +XTD is a very well made mouse and the feel of it is very nice, however I disliked the "shift" key, even though it seemed like a good idea. After years of using the rear-most thumb button as a "back" button, this was irritating and difficult to adjust to. Also, the thing is just huge. I wear a large size men's glove and I just couldn't get a comfortable grip on the thing. So, back it went.
I found out I really like smaller mice, like the portable laptop variety....but so far, no one is making an mmo mouse in that small of a form factor. I saw some very positive reviews on these mice if anyone is interested:
CM Storm xhornet
CM Storm spawn
Sharkoon Drakonia
Anker and Perixx...most seem like a decent value
Zowie, pretty much all of them
...and the Steel Series Sensei, though all of these mice didn't have the multitude of buttons that I was looking for.
While the g600 isn't too big...it seems kind of wide at first...but I found it pretty comfortable after using it a fair bit.
One mouse that I didn't get to hold, but I wish I could've thrown in for comparison, is the Corsair M95....I just didn't have it available to me at the time.
Also...there is a new no-name brand that looks promising, but I was tired of researching, the Redragon Perdition. It looks like a mix of the Naga and G600, but I couldn't tell if it had a 4 way scroll wheel or not and I couldn't find too many reviews on it, so I let it pass.
I hope all of my vacillating is able to help someone else out. Good luck!
Top reviews from other countries
For those that don't know, the G600 is a freaking TANK of a mouse when it comes to size and weight coming in at a whopping 133 grams not including the cable. But with this you get a lot of unique features, a solid sensor, and relatively good switches that in my super long experience with the G600 never double click (though a few people have reported that issue, I haven't seen it.
First and foremost, 3rd click, 3rd click, 3rd click. Oh did I mention this mouse has a 3rd click? I'm actually not sure people that haven't used the mouse know this, the G600 has 3 clicks not 2, you have your standard left and right click, but your ring finger rests on a 3rd click on the mouse that is super useful. I really can't understand how no other mice have done this, it's a great addition to any gaming mouse and if you aren't aiming for literally the lightest mouse out there, it's nothing but a plus side. So useful for in game actions, changing hot bars in ESO, crouching in Warframe, etc.... it's just such a nice feature and IMO many more mice should be doing this.
Now of course the other appeal to the G600 is all the freaking buttons, there are so many you can program and I just love it, allows me to focus on WASD with my left hand in most games which is perfect. I personally have never been a fan of using things like the number row in games, I find I fat finger things too much and it's just not comfortable, not to mention I can't be moving when using a given finger to press an action (i.e. if I use my middle finger for W and 3 I can't move forward an execute 3 at the same time). This is huge for many games including a lot of FPS games.
I also actually prefer a heavy mouse for some use cases, depends on the goal but I find this more comfortable to use than other mice I've used in the past.
Now I think the last important thing to mention about the G600 is the side buttons and how much better laid out they are than the Naga Pro (or any Naga for that matter). The Naga series has a very small profile of side buttons that don't stick up much and are all relatively the same feel. In contrast the G600 has angled buttons that alternate from front to back, making it really obvious which key your fingers are on so I've found in a quick action scenario I am much less likely to press the wrong button. IMO this is huge for a mouse with this many buttons and shouldn't be overlooked. It's also overall bigger than the Naga which IMO is nice, but that is just me, some people like smaller mice.
In conclusion, I think the G600 really is my endgame mouse until something to replace it comes from Logitech, which I'm hoping does happen sometime soon as it's about time this thing got a refresh. If you like mice with buttons, this should be on your short list and is probably still the best one out there as long as you don't mind a chonker with a lot of weight.
Przed tą myszką miałem 3 inne myszki Logitecha; M100, M705 i - G700s.
Myślę, że tutaj też by to mogło być (no bo czemu by nie).
