Great Samsung B-Die Kit

Great Samsung B-Die Kit
I highly recommend that anyone looking to build a last generation AMD system (Ryzen 5000 Series) and are willing to manually tune their ram, pick up at least one package of these sticks. They are Samsung B-Die utilizing a 10-Layer A2 PCB. They are not flashy w/ RGB lighting like the Trident Z RGB series or the Trident Z Neo series, but they have a ton of overclocking headroom. My motherboard has a 1900 FCLK "hole" where it can post 1933-2000 FCLK but not 1900 FCLK not matter what settings I toss at it. Be aware that on some Ryzen systems the FCLK "hole" exists and you might be able to go higher than 3733 MT/s up to something like 3866 MT/s. I was able to hit the timings in the attached screenshot using 4 sticks at 1.49v with an active fan (Corsair Vengeance Airflow Memory Cooling Fan) pointing at the ram. Manual ram over clocking is dependent on your kit(s), you motherboard and your CPU. The first thing to do is test that the ram is good at the advertised XMP profile before attempting to manually tune. If you have a kit that can't pass simple stress tests at the XMP profile (more common in 4000 or 4400 kits), than please return it as defective and exchange the kit prior to manually overclocking. EDIT: After removing the heat spreaders, I realized that these are actually an A2 PCB not an A1 PCB. I thought they were A1 as a result of what Thaiphoon Burner had listed in its report. I also added a photo of the front and back of the PCB layout without the heat spreaders on the ram.

I'm way late to a review but.. I've owned the CL14 set since 2018. I have never had a problem with them. Not one. During the early AM4 years (It was nuts) this was the only low latency CL14 kit that didn't have problems. I currently have it stock XMP 3200 but.. I've tightened the timings to CL12-12-12-22, and all other subtimings without problems. So far, best RAM kit I've used hands down. My 5800X3d isn't as picky with subtimings, so I'ts stock XMP 3200 and works fantastic.

Dew it.

This kit is amazing. I own two of them and have both kits (32gb total) running in a single system 100% stable. Prior to purchasing two of these kits, I had Corsair LPX 16Gb (2x8gb) 3000MHz CL 16 and could not near the rated speeds or even run the system stable at anything above 2400MHz. I would like to push the ram at advertised CL 14-14-14-14-34 (can do so with one kit but not two ) but the memory controller on the Ryzen processor will not let it (yet). Maybe future bios upgrades will allow me to so. Using a single kit, I was able to push CPU 3.9GHz (1.38V) 100% stable and able to tighten the memory latency to CL 14-14-14-14-28 (1.35V) @ the advertised 3200Mhz. With two kits (equaling 32gb) I was able to push them up to 3600MHz CL 16-18-18-18-35 (1.4V) which makes them overclock-able. I did settle on the following configurations as for my needs gives me 100% stability without pushing my hardware too far and a well balanced system. Anything higher than the clocks mentioned below (specifically cpu) would only run stable on benchmarks, most games and simple applications. It would not run 100% stable on "intensive" applications (software which i use on a daily bases which uses 100% of my complete system).
My set up:
Asus ROG Hero VI mother board (non wifi)
Ryzen 7 1700x OC @ 3.85GHz 1.375V
Corsair H115i AIO
Gskil Flare X @ 3200MHz (two kits = 32gb ram) CL 14-16-16-16-31 1.4v (with VDDSOC @ 1.05v)
Asus Strix Nvidea 1070 (x2 in SLI)
Samsung Evo 960 pro M.2 SSD 512gb
Segate Firecuda 2tb (x3)
Corsair RX850x PSU
Corsair 400c Case
If anyone is curious, my cinebench score averages 1691 with the above mentioned clocks. Changing memory frequency to anything higher than 3200mhz or changing its latency did not make a significant difference.

UPDATE: I played with my system a little more and did some fine tunning. In order to get both kits running at advertised speeds and tightened latencies, I upped the processor voltage to 1.38125V. This allowed me to run 32gb of this ram at 3200MHz CL 14-14-14-14-28-42 100% stable. All other settings remained the same as mentioned above. Cinebench score went up to average 1705. Everything is working great with no hiccups.

This is my 1st AMD build. I originally purchased 2x4gb 16cas G-Skil sticks that weren't on the QVL list for my B450 Asus Tuf Gaming II Plus motherboard. Paired with a Ryzen 2600 processor and a 4gb RX 570. Most of my games played well but with an occasional stutter. GTA 5 had frame fluctuation and the Division 2 was so bad during a lot of action that it was unplayable. Tried troubleshooting everything in Windows 10 that I could think of that could be causing the issues. Updates, trying different video card drivers etc... Seen a post on Reddit where someone mentioned that Ryzen processors work best with at least 16gb of ram and the sweet spot for speed was at 2666mhz set in the bios. After I installed these 2x8gb cas14 sticks and set the 2666mhz in the bios, all of my stuttering issues completely stopped. Now I have solid 1080p performance out of all of my games. Very happy with this Ram. I've always purchased G-skill memory for all of my builds and will continue to do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great RAM
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 12, 2021
Brought 16gb initially in my Ryzen 2700x/Rog Strix X470 build, decided to add another 16gb to it not so long ago. Tuned it to 3200mhz in the bios without issue and adding the 2nd 2 sticks later was as simple as popping it open and slotting them in IIRC. Can't really compare vs. other DDR4 but I did my research first, these contain Samsung B-Die ICs (if this review is specific to the CL14 B-Die version of Flare X RAM) which from my research are the best ICs and play real nice with Ryzen CPU as they are specifically designed for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but you get what you pay for
Reviewed in Canada on March 3, 2019
When I was upgrading my computer, I was doing what could be considered borderline OCD levels of research of what I should be looking out for, as I was coming from an Intel based system to an AM4 (AMD) system. Came across information such as how Ryzen really reacts well with higher speed memory than Intel does, so this lead me down a slew of different options. Then I came across this set of RAM.

Just a caveat, I was lured in with the idea of different quality of silicone used for the die on RAM, and was set on getting what could be considered "top shelf" (ie. Samsung), as I was going to do what I could to ensure the best performance I could manage within my admittedly middle of the road budget. So learning about timings, speeds and voltages, I found the Hyper X modules. I was skeptical (and already had other DD4 I was using) but went for it, and I don't regret it.

Pros:
- It's fast. Right out of the box, threw in this RAM into my MSI X470 Pro Carbon, went into the BIOS, picked the 3200 MHz profile, and it worked without any fuss.
- The heatsink has a look I personally like, even though it does add height to it. I have a case that has a large window on the side of it, so its nice to be able to check them out. (I know, a small thing, but it's my opinion lol)
- During use, I am a chronic multitasker, haven't felt any slowdown whatsoever even having a multitude of applications going at once. Definitely holding it's end of the proverbial bargain.

Cons:
- Price: this RAM isn't cheap. At all. However, it's definitely going to give you every ounce of it's rated speed (motherboard dependent, of course) but you are paying for it.
- Availability: I actually had something of a hard time finding a set that wasn't being sold by a 3rd party vendor who brought up the already high price on this RAM.
- Size: Even though I mentioned that the look of the RAM was a high spot for me, I could also see it being a sore spot for others due to the height of said heatsinks.

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase (props to Canada Computers for prompt shipping), it installed quickly and was easy to set up in the BIOS. Ran it through the ringer afterward, this memory completely handled my benchmarks like champs. CL14 won't likely affect a more casual user, but with the workloads I tend to apply, it's definitely making my Ryzen system hum along beautifully.

TL;DR: Expensive, but worth it if you are looking for some seriously solid RAM.
