When it was time to replace my old P67 Gigabyte build with a new 8th gen coffee lake build, I chose the MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard. Having used Asus and Gigabyte boards in the past, I decided to give MSI a try this time based on motherboard specs, features and reviews. I spent a considerable amount of time comparing similar motherboard offerings and this one came out as the clear winner and having completed the build, all the time spent researching parts certainly paid off.I particularly like the UEFI BIOS and how easy it is to configure things like memory XMP profiles, overclocking, Windows 10 WHQL mode, fast boot, and much more. The board layout was a pleasure to work with and everything seems well thought out. I did a quick bit of overclocking on the Core i7 8700K and easily hit 5.0 GHz. I have yet to really dig in with all the OC settings, but I'm sure this board can handle it without breaking a sweat. Finally, the MysticLight RGB lights and software are pretty good and adds a nice, customizable touch of color to the case interior. The software can be a bit temperamental, but it has quite a few options to suit whatever color scheme you're going with in your build.Overall, I couldn't be happier with my choice and I'll be definitely using MSI motherboards and peripherals over Asus and Gigabyte in the future.Happy building!

First a caveat or three: I tried in vain to install MacOS Mojave on this board for ever and it did not work. MSI boards use a specific memory controller which sometimes and sometimes does not work. Catalina does not have this problem. It was very simple.
Caveat II; clearing up a misconception: When using a Z370 board with an9th generation Intel CPU you would have to flash the bios to use the board- for which you would need an 8th gen cpu. Not always true. You can check the serial number and the date of manufacture will clue you into the bios version. MSI’s website has a chart which shows which cpu requires which bios version. Mine was manufactured 10/2018 and had a late enough bios for my i5-9400f.
Caveat III the last crusade: I could not initially work using the newest version of the bios (2A0) but worked flawlessly on the prior version (290).

OK so with that out of the way, the board worked fantastically in MacOS and has a nice white light on it. Plenty of headers for fans, usb, yadda yadda.

CPU install took around 45 seconds. Installing the board into the case took about 3 minutes and card installs took 2 minutes. Plenty of SATA connectors.

I would expect that it works in Windows too, since it has all the fancy settings.

this motherboard isn't that bad for the price. i still wouldn't recommend it for a none K cpu. the motherboard has worked as intended but its kinda lacking when it comes to features but what can i say; intel sucks for being overpriced. i think we can all agree on that but lets get back to the motherboard. the mobo has plenty of fan headers, 2 PCI-E X16 slots (sadly the second one only runs at 4x so you'll loose about 10 or so fps depending on the game), 6 sata ports, decent motherboard cooling. the motherboard VRMs do not too protrude to much, to where i can't fit certain coolers like in the past (in my own experience). the motherboard makes my whole life a bit easier with easy ram overclocking; ram actually does make a difference. i've gained 10-20 fps in my games when i overclocked my ram. if you have a better budget of $140 on a motherboard and don't have a K cpu than get this one unless you want to wait for the motherboards with no overclocking. if you can spend more than do it if you have a K cpu. i would recommend you spend more on your motherboard to get a more amount of features and get a better vrm phase design because more vrms can help with voltage and that can end with the consumer running at cooler temps with otherclocking

This motherboard would be great for anything but it has a great BIOS interface for overclocking. I am able to bump my i5 processor up to 4.6ghz with a could button presses. It allows you to save the overclock setting profiles. The install was easy and it fit great in my ATX tower. The only problem that worried me was after I got the CPU, memory and SSD installed. I went to put in the geforce 1050ti and it will only fit in the top PCI slot. Which is the spot they recommend. I forget why but it has some special feature. Anyways, the second pci slot is the last slot on the motherboard and at the bottom. If I wanted to run SLI I wouldn't be able to because the graphics card is to big and won't fit in that bottom pci number 2 slot. The cases USB cable going into the motherboard gets in the way. Maybe if you have a different case it may. Anyways, great motherboard. No problems on install. They did provide a lot of screws and when counted it was short 3. I only needed like 6 to put the motherboard in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good board.
Reviewed in Canada on May 30, 2020
Mother board works well, and has a lot of settings to play with for over clocking. It also has a handy recovery functionality where if you go too far with your overclock, it doesn't lose your settings. The on board raid works well, although indont like that the raid utility is loaded independent of the uefi, but this isn't a deal breaker. With lots of usb, data and pci slots, it's hard to go wrong. It has 2 m.2 slots, and supports dual video cards. I have been using it for about 2 years now, and have no regrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Una buena motherboard de parte de MSI
Reviewed in Mexico on December 24, 2018
