    great bang for your buck
been using this laptop for almost 2 years now and while it isnt an absolute powerhouse the i5 and 8gb ram is more than enough for normal daily tasks and browsing. it also can handle moderate gaming, i dont know how it does with the latest cutting edge games because im not much of a gamer anymore but a few year old games on max or near max settings run great and of course it breezes through 2d stuff like rimworld or anything as old as say csgo. it probably would run crysis too. the onboard ssd boots up lightning fast, from a cold boot its less than 10 seconds from when the mobo powers on (and the keyboard lights up) to the log on sound playing, with the windows boot from the acer splash screen to log on sound being maybe 5-6 of those seconds. speaking of the backlit keyboard i like it, i thought i wouldnt like the auto off like most other people but its nice to not have to turn it off manually when watching videos in the dark. the screen is really good, very bright and clear and sharp with good colors that arent washed out or blown out. the only issue is there is one single pixel right in the middle of my screen that randomly gets stuck red for a little while. a minor annoyance that goes away eventually. also i bought mine refurbished so theres that. i really like that it has a cd drive which is getting more and more rare on laptops, it does result in it being bigger (by todays standards, no where near something like my 2000s vaio) but the thickness and weight is fine. i do wish it had a removable battery not only for ease of replacement and hot swapping but also the peace of mind when poking around inside of it, though clearly its perfectly safe otherwise. overall im quite happy with this guy, cant think of much i would change with it, honestly.to clear up the issue of nvme m2 drives with everyone,i can confirm 100% that the m2 slot WILL indeed accept and work with nvme drives AND them being 1tb (and maybe 1.5tb and 2tb but i cant confirm personally). acer official support will tell you that the slot only supports sata m2 drives and 512gb max, however i just installed a 970 evo plus and it boots and runs no issue. even the bios itself will recognize and call it an nvme drive (in the security tab for hdd passwords it will say "nvme drive does not support hdd password" or something to that effect) and as you can see it is 1tb, as well as being recognized as nvme by windows and being the boot drive. so im not sure why acer would tell people its not compatible when the laptop even has a nvme m key slot for the m2. BE SURE TO CHECK FOR YOURSELF, open the access panel and look then google it to make sure (i see no reason why it would be different, but it never hurts to check before you drop almost $200 on a drive). i also cannot tell one way or the other if the system can actually take advantage of the nvme speeds, but since it is compatible even if its only sata speeds its futureproofed in case you move the drive to a new laptop down the line with "official" nvme support.i cloned the stock sata m2 to the 970 and it went off with only a small hitch, the only issue i had getting the drive to boot. the problem is that windows wont be able to boot from the drive because it will expect a sata drive and load the sata driver not have the nvme driver installed or set to be used. very simply the way to fix it is to get into safe mode with the nvme drive installed (with windows on it of course), let the driver install, then reboot. thats it, it takes 20 seconds and windows will take care if it for you, no need to use samsungs drivers or anything. simply f8 into safe mode and youre good, no need for commandline diskpart and bcdedit and such or messing with the bios or recovery drives, it wont do anything anyway because it doesnt fix the driver problem and all of them are red herrings.in short: clone old drive to nvme, remove old drive (to prevent multiple windows install clashes or other weirdness) install nvme, go to safe mode, wait for the driver to install, reboot, done and enjoy.

i cloned the stock sata m2 to the 970 and it went off with only a small hitch, the only issue i had getting the drive to boot. the problem is that windows wont be able to boot from the drive because it will expect a sata drive and load the sata driver not have the nvme driver installed or set to be used. very simply the way to fix it is to get into safe mode with the nvme drive installed (with windows on it of course), let the driver install, then reboot. thats it, it takes 20 seconds and windows will take care if it for you, no need to use samsungs drivers or anything. simply f8 into safe mode and youre good, no need for commandline diskpart and bcdedit and such or messing with the bios or recovery drives, it wont do anything anyway because it doesnt fix the driver problem and all of them are red herrings.
in short: clone old drive to nvme, remove old drive (to prevent multiple windows install clashes or other weirdness) install nvme, go to safe mode, wait for the driver to install, reboot, done and enjoy.

been using this laptop for almost 2 years now and while it isnt an absolute powerhouse the i5 and 8gb ram is more than enough for normal daily tasks and browsing. it also can handle moderate gaming, i dont know how it does with the latest cutting edge games because im not much of a gamer anymore but a few year old games on max or near max settings run great and of course it breezes through 2d stuff like rimworld or anything as old as say csgo. it probably would run crysis too. the onboard ssd boots up lightning fast, from a cold boot its less than 10 seconds from when the mobo powers on (and the keyboard lights up) to the log on sound playing, with the windows boot from the acer splash screen to log on sound being maybe 5-6 of those seconds. speaking of the backlit keyboard i like it, i thought i wouldnt like the auto off like most other people but its nice to not have to turn it off manually when watching videos in the dark. the screen is really good, very bright and clear and sharp with good colors that arent washed out or blown out. the only issue is there is one single pixel right in the middle of my screen that randomly gets stuck red for a little while. a minor annoyance that goes away eventually. also i bought mine refurbished so theres that. i really like that it has a cd drive which is getting more and more rare on laptops, it does result in it being bigger (by todays standards, no where near something like my 2000s vaio) but the thickness and weight is fine. i do wish it had a removable battery not only for ease of replacement and hot swapping but also the peace of mind when poking around inside of it, though clearly its perfectly safe otherwise. overall im quite happy with this guy, cant think of much i would change with it, honestly.

to clear up the issue of nvme m2 drives with everyone,
i can confirm 100% that the m2 slot WILL indeed accept and work with nvme drives AND them being 1tb (and maybe 1.5tb and 2tb but i cant confirm personally). acer official support will tell you that the slot only supports sata m2 drives and 512gb max, however i just installed a 970 evo plus and it boots and runs no issue. even the bios itself will recognize and call it an nvme drive (in the security tab for hdd passwords it will say "nvme drive does not support hdd password" or something to that effect) and as you can see it is 1tb, as well as being recognized as nvme by windows and being the boot drive. so im not sure why acer would tell people its not compatible when the laptop even has a nvme m key slot for the m2. "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself. "
    --Han Solo

I couldn’t have put my feelings about my new Acer Aspire E 15 E5-576G-5762 better. The 8th generation processor and SSD make for a very snappy computer, and the easy upgradablility is helpful now and will be useful in the future. Since the i5-8250U version comes with DDR3L RAM, I swapped out the 16GB from my old laptop for a free upgrade. It took all of 3 minutes. The hardest part was finding the 3 tiny screws that flew everywhere when I took the plastic compartment off. I foresee a time when I’ll need more storage, but when that time comes I’ll get another SSD and install it. Again, a 3 minute task.

Chassis: Plastic, with a painted aluminum surface for the keyboard and track pad. It seems put together well. The monitor is surrounded by a somewhat large bezel, which I’ve been told is a turn off for some people. I never would have noticed had it not been pointed out in my research.

Processor: This is the primary selling point for me. The i5-8250U is substantially faster than even the 7th generation mobile processors in a very energy efficient package. I haven’t put the processor through anything very rigorous yet, but reading the reviews and head-to-head comparisons on the internet was convincing enough for me to buy it.

GPU: A discrete GPU with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM in a computer that costs less than some graphics cards. I don’t play GPU intensive games, but I’ve read that many games are playable with this card, just not to consider this a gaming computer.

SSD: A Solid State Drive is a must have! What they lack in size, they make up for in raw speed, durability, and energy efficiency. I would have liked a 512GB drive, but the 256GB one that comes with the computer will last a while, and when I need more space, it’s an easy process to put another SSD, or HDD, in the empty bay.

I/O: Tons of ports, a DVD burner, solid keyboard with good feel to the key strokes, and a very precise and responsive trackpad. The trackpad, keys, and wrist-rests collect the oil from your fingers and hands very well, so I’ve taken to wiping them down after every use.

RAM: 8GB of DDR3L-1600 RAM. I’m sure it’s enough, though I would have preferred the faster, more energy efficient DDR4. Still, I had other 8GB sticks of the RAM available, so was able to get a nice upgrade for free.

Screen: This 15.6 inch screen is my first 1080 screen on a laptop, and I love it! The higher definition is very apparent from the 1200 X 800 screen I’m used to. Plus the screen is matte, so bright lights aren’t glaring. Not the brightest screen I’ve seen, but certainly acceptable for all indoor use.

Battery: Coming from a 17.3 inch laptop with a 3rd generation, power-hungry i5 in it, I was used to getting 2ish hours of battery life, even with battery saver on. Now, without sacrificing processor performance or screen brightness, I can get 5-6 hours of battery life out of my computer. I will be interested to see how long I can get the battery to last with power saver on. Acer claims you can get 12 hours, so we’ll see.

Overall Impression: This is a killer laptop for a killer deal! Acer has done a great job of creating this workhorse of a computer and selling it at the $600 price point. Kudos to them. If you’re on the fence I challenge you to find another computer with all these feature at a similar price. Buy this computer and you’ll be very happy with it.

Edit: Since writing this my computer needed warrantied repair, and the service was extremely quick. Amazon and Acer make the repair process very easy. I've also discovered that the battery is better than I first thought, and will last 8 hours for light-duty activities such as web-surfing and word processing; longer with power management on. The maximum resolution of it's graphics card is 1920 x 1080, which is fine for my uses, but may not be acceptable if you wanted to use a higher resolution TV as a monitor. I've also added a small, $40 SSD to the computer for audio and visual files since the SSD it came with was getting cramped. A word of caution if you add another drive: don't forget to go to Disk Management and format the drive or Windows will not recognize it. My overall impression has not changed in the past 8 months, and I am still very impressed by it.

I recently was forced to use my machine in direct sunlight, and the screen performed excellently. The matte finish made everything very easy to read without the glare you get on some monitors.

5.0 out of 5 stars #1 Budget Laptop In The World - Top 5 Overall In The World.

    Review: 3 months* after buying...

    PROS:

    - Excellent Battery Life - even on maximum performance + brightness settings: 8+ hours.
    - Fast: Very fast due to SSD plus its expandable: Extra Ram Slot + Hard drive/SSD slot.
quick tip: contrary to the other review, you DON'T need an acer assemble kit to install an additional hard drive/solid state drive to install it.
    - Backlit keyboard - easy to type and it lights up every time you type.
    - No silly bloatware.
    - Two Graphics Cards: Nvidia MX150 + Intel 620. - They work whenever they're necessary, and you can edit the settings manually as well.
    - 720p HD Camera - Camera is great as well, far better than 480p cameras in other laptops.
    - i5 8th gen + boost up to 3.4 ghz is amazing, I never experienced any form of slowdown.

    CONS:

    NONE.

I am proficient in technology (10+ years) as I have owned an HP laptop AND desktop, Toshiba laptop, Acer laptop (different one), ASUS laptop, and a Dell laptop. This laptop is a 10/10. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good.
Reviewed in Australia on June 12, 2019
I've only had the laptop a week or two but seems pretty good. I'm currently based in Australia and it arrived from the US within a few days from ordering, very fast. Also came with a simple adapter to use in the Australian plugs. I'm hoping all the voltage/wattage is ok over here, no problems so far.
I bought the laptop to learn front end web-developing, I haven't done a lot but I think it'll be good. Quiet, not too warm so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of features. Good buy.

Had several choices even a discounted Dell i7 for $400 discount at Costco and even a Nitro5 but opted for this laptop due to its storage, HD screen and storage. Added an SSD (see photo, don’t forget to order a SSD/HDD assembly kit for it for $11CAD+shipping) to complement the M.2 256GB primary storage by Crucial/Micron. As expected this model is fast and has features I need, ripping old CDs with built-in RW DVD/CD drive, SD card slot, USBC port among others. The backlit keyboard is so-so, and keyboard feel though is too soft for me and feels too delicate. Overall satisfied, no problems so far, no bloatware but still wary of how long this motherboard will last as I’ve had other Acer laptops’ replaced before. Also it’s plastic all over so it can feel cheap, this retails much much cheaper in the US than here in Canada for reasons only profiteers will know.
