I needed a mouse pad and I like the dense ones. This one is real firm when flat on a surface, but it's relatively flimsy when you pick it up so putting it in a bag for commute won't be a hassle. The base has excellent grip and it barely moves. Do note if you move your entire arm and drag your wrist across it, the mousepad WILL move a tiny bit of course, as any surface would. And the edges of the mouse pad didn't experience any decay what so ever. Again, this is all over 2.5 years. Anyone who says it's not durable or doesn't hold up must have used their parent's money to buy it and doesn't know how to value their own assets.
It has always stayed slick and hours of computer use. I rarely clean it and it looks fantastic and holds an really good shine. It never caused any issues with DPI and the response is peak. It's also incredibly easy to clean. Spill food or soda on it? Comes right off. I've used clorox wipes instead of just water & a rag and it didn't alter the color or quality at all.
The reason I am getting rid of it is I am looking to free up space on my work surface. This is a large mouse pad (about 13.5" wide x 11" tall. The thickness is like 1/16th of an inch (roughly). With my Razor Adder mouse and my preferred DPI settings, I barely move my hand, using maybe a quarter of the space in most situations. I tried to cut it with a sharp pair of scissors.. BIG NO NO. The gloss material on the top bubbled and lifted off of the mid-material like a bad tint job on a car window. If you wanted to trim this thing down, it's not going to happen without ruining it. I guess that's a good thing as it's to show how well built the ridges are.
I would buy another one if they offered a smaller size, but that doesn't seem to be the case. 5/5 would recommend this product.
It is a hard plastic pad not a cloth pad (which I HATE). The size is plenty large enough for gaming. The back side has a powder blue rubber pad the same size which is glued to it. It really stays in place which was one problem I had with the Steelseries pad which only has little dribbles of rubber randomly dropped on the back side. I would periodically have to wash it off so it would start gripping properly again. It's too early to tell (just got it today) but I don't think I will have the same problem with the G440. At least not as often or as bad. For thickness the G440 is about twice as thick as the Steelseries hard pad but this was not a problem for me at least since it is still thinner than cloth pads I've tried (including the Steelseries QCK/QCK+ pads, though they are close).
Pro's:
Good for gaming especially.
Nice larger than average size but doesn't take over your whole desk.
Seriously smooth gliding surface for mousing over.
Tracking is precise and doesn't cause skipping.
Stays put since the rubber on the bottom side takes up the whole bottom surface.
Con's:
The edges are too sharp out of the box. Left as is they will irritate your wrist. This should have been dealt with at the factory but see note later on for fixing this.
Subjective:
Slightly thicker than the S&S Steelseries hard mouse pad which may be good or bad depending on your preferences.
Note: The sharp edge is easily dealt with by simply taking an emery board for doing fingernails (your wife or girl friend probably has several just lying around) and carefully removing the sharp bottom edge where your wrist slides back and forth. I used one of the black ones that measure about 3/4 in. wide and 7 in. long and it worked perfectly. You only have to round it off very slightly to remove the sharpness and then you're set. A minute or two max. and you're done. Only do a little at a time then test it and repeat if necessary. Depending on the "newness" of the emery board you may want to use the finer side. If an older board then the rougher side may work better.

Some of my friends talked me out of buying a cheap, $10 mouse pad, but I'm not entirely sure it was worth it. The only reason I gave this mouse pad a 3/5 star, is because of the lack comfort it brings. I wanted to get a nice mouse pad to make my gaming experience amazing, and not have to worry about anything other than the game. That being said, this mouse pad does the opposite. The mouse pad was created in a way where it seems like they made the material, then had a blade cut some squares out of it the correct size, then slapped it onto a slip free material. Whenever I sit down at my desk, and lay my arm down, half of my arm is on the mouse pad and half is off. And at that spot where my arm leaves the mouse pad, is pain. They obviously did nothing to take out the edge. The edge of the mouse pad is super sharp, and digs into your arm. Plus, when you move your arm, you better hope its not dragging across it. I had to get a fingernail file, and take out the edge myself, and even then I still feel the edge. The only thing that helps is putting something on the edge. For spending around 20 more dollars than a regular mouse pad, just for it to be uncomfortable, is awful. Sure, the mouse glides across effortlessly, but it's your gaming experience that counts, and having to have your arm raised a bit so you don't feel the edge is not comfortable and destroys your experience.
Update: 2 years later, the edge has softened. It’s now extremely comfortable. I’m using the same mouse and it still works amazing with it. Raised my review from 3 stars to 4. It would be a 5 if it didn’t start out as sharp as it was.

So I opted to pick up this G440 hard mouse pad, wow what a difference, so glad I did. Reminds me of my old Razer hard surface pad only better. The top material works really well the mouse skates. The mice glide effortlessly across the surface top. I had to turn down the sensitivity on my gaming mouse because I was overshooting the target. Precision on this pad is extremely good. This is nothing like my old Corsair cloth mouse pad.
I tried a cloth pad for a while and cloth mouse pads are hype, that is all, they are one of those things where you hear great things about them and you are weary because you know better, but because of the positive reviews you go out and get one. Only to find some time later that your instincts were right and you soon realise you were lied to about cloth mouse pads. A cloth pad is ok at best, it doesn't provide the traction you get with hard surface pads like this here G240. After a while of using a cloth pad you might spill a beer, and then spill a pop, and maybe you are sweating a bit while gaming and the cloth pad starts absorbing all these liquids. Over time I started to notice that my cloth pad started accumulating dirt a lot easier and became harder to clean. Mice also started to get more resistance gliding on the cloth surface after a while.
This is due to the porous nature of cloth it will absorb dust, dirts, and liquid. Hard surface pads don't have this issue and are way easier to clean the G440 is where it's at.
Don't hesitate get the G440 pad, it is really good. I thought it would have been too small, but the size is perfect. I also didn't believe the reviews on the G440 that is was amazin, etc.
Well it's pretty close to amazing.
I am a large guy and do not have a problem with the edges being sharp like some people have described. In fact my wrist lifts perfectly over the edge and it's a non issue for me.
This pad is really good, get it now.
