About the Author
Established in 1985 to focus on the expanding console market, Rare partnered with Nintendo and quickly sealed a reputation for quality with titles including Battletoads, Donkey Kong Country, and GoldenEye.
The acquisition of Rare by Microsoft Game Studios came about in 2002 after a colossally successful run of titles throughout the 1990s. They went on to support the Xbox 360 debut with two of the three launch games, Kameo: Elements of Power and Perfect Dark Zero. Subsequent years saw us innovate with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, the addictive Viva Piñata franchise and our pioneering work on Xbox 360 Avatars.
In more recent years their investigations into cutting-edge motion control resulted in the multi-million-selling, double BAFTA-winning Kinect Sports series. With development now firmly established for Xbox One and Windows 10, they are hard at work here in their custom-built English countryside HQ, galvanised by the opportunity to celebrate their incredible heritage with the Rare Replay anniversary collection while looking ahead to brand new shared world adventures in Sea of Thieves. The author lives in Twycross, Leicestershire, England.

Worthy of a pore over with a pour of grog
Beautiful book! Not only does it contain full bleed artwork on very nice, thick paper, but lots of sketches and iterative drawings. The history of the islands, the monsters, the characters and more are all contained in these pages. Grab a tankard of grog and dive in!

This game is such a stylized and has well thought through aesthetic elements and seeing the proces that some of the artist went through in this book is amazing. its a beautiful book for a beautiful game and I hope that some of the concepts in here that havent gotten to the game have a chance in the future!!

This book contains a plethora of amazing art from the game. The fantastic art style they have used to create this world gives it a feeling of dramatic adventure with a touch of whimsy.

This book is awesome. Had so many great graphics in it and things that I didn't even know about the game in it. A must have for any gamer that loves this game.

Great book - quality and content-wise. Cool to see the design process, as well as potential "sneak peeks" into additional content that may or may not make it into SOT down the road. Recommended to fans of the game and/or pirate related art in general.

This is very well done and full of great art from a great game. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that I wish it had a little more text explaining decisions on why or why they didn't include something.

Uno de los mejores Artbooks de videojuegos que he tenido en mis manos. El estilo artístico le hace único mas teniendo en cuanta su naturaleza de videojuego AAA. Incluye además bastante contenido descartado del proyecto.

I am a huge sea of thieves fan and am addicted to playing it, this is the one game that I have been intrigued to find out the lore behind it as well as looking at the concept of how they initially started to design the game and this book delivered. It showed early concept art of how the game started to how it is nowadays and how it will be in the future. I would recommend this book to anyone, highly recommend!
