If ya into retro gaming like me then this is for you. I grew up with the 2600 in the early 80's and this just takes ya back to the good ol days!!! Some of the things you must do is update the software right from the start, then 3 updates, its pretty painless and takes no time at all. The bonus is that this is a PC and a console all in one. so I decided to get a 256 gig 3.0 thumb drive and install Windows 10 go on it, then i installed retroarch as the main emulation station to run a bunch of different consoles. So 1 thumb drive for Window 10 and another thumb drive to put your roms on, or m.2 drive and must be SATA SSD to work. then the other thing you need to do is disable the viruse scan tool in windows 10 as it hogs up the resources of the drive speed.Once configured correctly, You can play up to PS2 games on this machine plus the arcade with the mame emulator.Also a side note, I recommend the ram upgrade to 32 gigs at 3200 speed by kingston!!

The first system I had was an Atari 2600. So when this came out, despite bad reviews I felt the nostalgia to get this product. When I open it up, the system felt well made. It didn't feel like cheap plastic. I know this because I held several Android TV devices and this did not feel cheap at all. The Atari joystick was a great step up from the original. It just felt well made and looked gorgeous with the lights that go around the joystick. I wanted this to properly play the Atari 50th anniversary collection as well as Atarimania by using an Atari joystick. Unfortunately, I kept on getting an unknown error when it asks to do an update for the first time as well as creating a user account. This system does not accept hard media and the only way to install games is to download them by buying them from their online store. You cannot do that if you cannot create an account. I major in IT and work a senior position for product support at a 500 fortune company. It is not that I do not have the ability to spend the time and figure out how the troubleshoot this. However, at the end of the day, when you use a product out of the box, you would expect it to work and do very basic functions that it's supposed to do unless it is a hardware component that can fail. When it comes to software and it fails on step one doing the "happy path", you would think quality checks would catch that. Hence, I decided to return this. I was very disappointed.

This thing killed my wifi network. I took it out of the box, plugged everything in, and after an initial update and reboot, subsequent updates would force my wifi router to reset. The only way to fix it was to connect it via Ethernet, for a while, and let everything update that way. A few days later, I was able to unplug the ethernet and go back to wifi. It seems to be operating fine, now, but something about this machine is definitely a little off.

I ordered this without doing any research. And it showed.

The system arrived, and didn't work. It kept hanging while trying to update upon initial startup. It took over a month for me to get an updated Debian image just for this to run. Yeah. I spent almost $300 on a system that arrived *broken*... for a month.

Oh, right. It runs on Debian. A simple Linux kernel. No FPGA here. El cheapo.

The power button is in the back of the console.. That's the only way to turn on the machine. We are in a world where all other consoles can be turned on by the controller. Not here. It's not a "retro" feature. It's just cheap.

And then the fan kicks in. The small, tiny, horribly loud fan. It's ridiculous.

The games? Oh, right. You wanna play any Activision games like Pitfall!? Nope. Not available. Only Atari published games. I repeat. No Activision games.

This thing is a waste. I'm sorry I spent so much money on it.

Please, do not purchase this.

Online guidance is near non existent, official website near useless. Fortunately there’s enough people with a clue out there on forums that have written instructions on how to do the more interesting stuff.

Yes it, it can and does run Windows 11, and steam inside it running in big picture mode works fine - AFTER you have worked out how to put the modern controller into PC mode. You don’t install windows on the internal emmc or the internal M2 slot ssd if fitted. You install it onto an external USB device like an SSD using rufus, the windows iso and making it a windows to go image. It just works and boots from the usb device any time its installed.

Plenty of older controller friendly games work great in this manner. You wont be playing latest and greatest AAA titles on this limited hardware but runs plenty of things just fine on my older 1080P tv.

The atari side of things, games are limited in number, a few are interesting, definitely needs more games.

Know what you are getting into, this is for those that like to tinker and don’t expect your hand to be held every step of the way.
