Very dissapointed as it's Tefal and Jamie Oliver branded so naturally you think you're getting a quality product with the money. Writing the review after about 10 months of use. Have had to throw it away, the coating came off progressively more and more from about 3 months in. Scrambled eggs and non stick coating not a good mix.

How literally are we supposed to take claims for a frying pan that it is non-stick? A brand new pan can be relied on in that respect, but to assess the claim realistically we would need to postpone a review over a longer period of use than the Vine process permits. This new pan is nice looking – it looks ‘quality’ – and it is light and has a handle that does not become hot. The ‘indicator’ advising the chef that the pan is ready to fry in also appears to work, (supposing I have understood it: it looked to me as if the pattern in the red spot becomes fainter.) Distribution of the heat across the cooking surface also appears to be even (as claimed -- although that probably has more to do with ensuring that the pan is placed perfectly level on the hob.)

But ‘non-stick’? At the moment it is a pleasure to use from that point of view, but how long will it stay that way? I already own a fine big cast iron pan that lost any pretensions to non-stickness some years ago. As well as eggs and steaks I tried frying bread and stir-fry noodles to see what if anything they deposited on the pan surface. There wasn’t much, but there wasn’t quite nothing either, so what I am going to ensure is that I wipe the pan with oil after use to remove any micro-crumbs still adhering.

Something else that I find a little odd is the size – 28cm. This is not quite big enough to poach fish (the big old pan is still ideal for that.) but on the large side if all I want to fry is a steak or a couple of eggs.

So there we are. I like this new kitchen implement, but ideally I would have welcomed more time to report on how well its stands up to regular use.
