Control with Your Voice

Control your dash cam with your voice. Just say “OK, Garmin” to save a video or still picture, start/stop audio recording or start/stop the Travelapse video capture feature.

Capture the Scene

With an extra-wide 180-degree field of view, this dash cam captures more of the environment — including cross traffic — and includes detailed time and GPS location data, pinpointing exactly where and when events occurred. It records nonstop in a continuous loop. Play back the footage right on the dash cam display — or review on your phone using the Garmin Drive app.

Dash Cam Auto Sync

Dash Cam Auto Sync wirelessly connects up to four Garmin Dash Cams at the front, back and sides of your vehicle to provide virtually complete 360° coverage. If you save a video on one dash cam, the others will also save it. Use the Garmin Drive app on your smartphone to create a “picture-in-picture” video from any two perspectives at the same time. This makes it easy to share videos with friends, insurance agencies or legal authorities.

Share the Drive with Travelapse

The Travelapse feature provides an easy and fun way to record and share your adventures by condensing hours of driving into minutes of highlights.

Drive with Increased Awareness

Driver alerts help you keep track of vehicles around you. Forward collision, lane departure and a “Go” alerts work to enhance your driver awareness. Receive alerts for red light camera and speed camera (not available in all areas) locations with subscription-free updates via Garmin Express.

Confusion regarding maximum SD card size for various Dash Cams

Confusion regarding maximum SD card size for various Dash Cams
There is some understandable confusion as to the maximum SD card capacity that the Dash Cam supports. And it's not helped by the statement on the box of the 66W that it "Accepts up to 64GB microSDHC card (Class 10 required)." So I went to Garmin's web site and found a (hopefully) accurate chart regarding the SD capacity that each model supports.Turns out that models 45, 54, 55 and 65W support a maximum capacity of 64GB. However, models 46, 56, and 66W support a maximum capacity of 512GB. I am attaching a pic of Garmin's support page listing the capacity for each model.Hope this helps, as I was confused when I first received the 66W, happened to look at the package contents and noted that the max size of the supported SD card is incorrectly stated as 64GB.

INITIAL IMPRESSION OF GARMIN 66W WEB CAM:
The Garmin 66W web cam is smaller than the pictures on Amazon give it credit and fits perfect under my rear view mirror. Did not care for the design of the windshield mount that shipped with the 66W web cam, so I purchsed the Garmin Suction Cup Mount (SKU #: 753759211547) and it works great! I really did not want to glue anything to my windshield to install the mount that was shipped with the unit.

My 66W web cam shipped with Camera Software Version 3.00 which did not allow full functionality out of the box (camera options were missing within the configuration menu on the Camera) and version 3.00 would not allow my iPhone 6S to stay connected to the web cam, via bluetooth, using the Garmin Drive iPhone app when streaming live video of the web cam to my iPhone 6S. Immediately upgraded to Camera Software Version 3.40 but the update took a few minutes and appeared to have issues upgrading from version 3.00 to 3.40. Later tried again to upgrade using Garmin Connect (Garmin Connect resides on your computer) a second time and it appears that the upgrade did have an issue but it appears to have resolved itself on it's own this second attempt, from what I can currently tell.

    PROS:
    1) Day time picture quality is very clear and crisp. An advantage when you need details, such as a driver's license plate.
    2) Your videos and still photos allow you to configure and turn on a GPS stamp, and/or a date stamp, and/or a time stamp for every video and still photo captured from your dash cam.
    3) The Garmin Drive application, that resides on your phone, allows you to take still pictures OR video clips from your iPhone, something that I found to be a very good feature. Just knowing I can take a still shot OR video clip of a license plate of a driver that is a hazard on the road is EXTREMELY beneficial and comforting to have access to.
    4) The camera software is very customizable. For example, audio alerts (audible beeps) can be programmed to be low, medium or high.
    5) The 66W web cam utilizes Garmin Connect software, that resides on your computer, for registering your product and for obtaining firmware upgrades to your web cam. Garmin does a great job with upgrading their firmware for their sports devices thru Garmin Connect and I am anticipating that Garmin will do the same for this web cam.

    CONS:
    1) Night time video is okay but I would expect Garmin to make improvements to this in future models to stay up with the competition.
    2) The 66W web cam manual that is online provides much more information about the 66W web cam than what is included within the box. I highly recommend downloading the 66W web cam manual from Garmin's site to configure the camera options properly from the start.
    3) Like most firmware and software, early versions have glitches that cause the hardware not to function optimally . Garmin does a great job on keeping their sports device firmware upgraded on a monthly basis via Garmin Connect, so I am expecting Garmin to do the same with this 66W web cam I purchased.

Overall, it appears that my research paid off. My early impressions of the 66W web cam are very positive. I will update the review in a couple of months after more use of the web cam.

I have the Garmin dash cam mini & and Garmin dash cam 66W

Both are easy to use, easy to step Up. The phone app is oustanding, very easy to use, Very helpful ref to angling the camera view, reviewing video, opions and set up.

The magnetic windshield mount is great & its not going to move or fall off and it has a very small foot print on ur windshield & very hard to see looking in.
WARNING, the part that sticks to your windshield, once its on the windshield there is no second try unless you get another windshield mount! Its sticks very, very well to the windshield!

Note, it can be removed from your windshield very easy. I have done once already!

$10.00 +/- for a new windshield mount on amazon.

Dash cam 66W, is perfect in size, the video quality is beyond outstanding. I can read the lic plate of the car in front of me at a red light. The 180 degree angle is great without the bubble effect, it completely covers the whole front of my jeep. The night time quality is outstanding. The video is very clear and very crisp quality!

The dash cam mini, is perfect in size if you do not want anyone to see it in your vehicle, the quality is also outstanding, the 140 degree of view is great. I use it for the rear of my jeep.

The 2 types of usb cords are long enough and It will take any type if micro usb cord.

    A few Downsides:
-it does NOT come with a nicro sd card!
-you need one to use the dash cam!
-to review the video on your phone app, the dash cam needs to be on!

    Personally not a deal breaker

You can & i have reviewed the video on the micro sd card on my pc & tablet with no issues!

Again the video quality is outstanding!

I was car accident a few years ago. But someone lied because I had No dashcam. After that I learned my listen, I am highly recommend everyone has car should had a dashcam Garmin is the best. So I been using Garmin very single day. Garmin keep does great jobs records for me and videos stories so long time until device of memories card full deleted by itself. So a few days ago I just had someone crash my car with a little damaged. When I am home and downloaded the app into my phone. I would watch everything happen again! So the camera records the video very clear and details. I am so proud of myself. This is the best thing I do for my life and I'd Garmin dashcam for my family too. Trust me! Garmin never make you feel disappoint. This is the best in the best 👍

Video capture quality is excellent. Small size doesn't restrict visibility. Accepts up to 256GB memory chip for days of recording. If your car doesn't have things like drifting out of traffic lane alert, the 66W will do it for you. You should compare it to a couple of their less-feature filled units if you don't need all of the extras.
Check what is 'in the box' - I did not buy the kit with the park-mode power cable and had to buy that separately to get the motion activated captures while the ignition is off.
Setup and installation is easy although after getting my park-mode power cable, I did have it run by a pro for an 'invisible' installation without me screwing up the interior appearance of the car. That ran me $85 locally.
Their phone app could use a couple of added features such as 'delete all' captures. If you use it with the park-mode motion activated capture, the number of captures grows quickly and it takes a while to delete the unwanted ones.
I would recommend it. So would Goodwill - the shop that did my park-mode power cable installation mentioned that the local Goodwill people had just installed Garmin units in all of their vehicles.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Dash Works Perfectly
Reviewed in Canada on November 5, 2020
I bought this dash cam after researching many. I had originally bought a cheap knockoff from China but found that it missed more than it caught...especially after I was involved in a car accident. The knockoff failed to record before, during and after the accident so it proved to be absolutely useless. I bought the Garmin 66W, installed it in a new used car, then left it alone. Two days ago a deer jumped in front of my car and, of course, wrecked the front end. The Garmin not only caught the accident but also automatically saved the video as an event file so that I could go straight to it. The video quality was excellent, clear, and it was easy to see what and how it happened. I will be using the video to prove to my insurance company that it was in fact a deer that wrecked my car. There is no room for arguement about what happened because of the excellent job the Garmin 66W did. I got a great deal on the purchace, a full $100 CAD less than what was available where I live in Canada. I highly recommend this dash cam. I will also add that I installed a high speed 128G micro SD in the dash cam to ensure there is plenty of memory for video files. To the folks at Wireless Cloud, thank you for the great buy.

Garmin website says this comes with Memory stick and is $60 more from the Garmin website. Camera had dust on it and looked like it was opened up before (no seal on box). Was worried about it, but plugged it in and used memory card from previous camera I had. It works well, video is sharper and looks better than old AutoVox camera I had. But it still doesn't show the plates as clearly as I hoped it would even at highest resolution. 64gb memory card gives me about 8 hours of video at highest resolution. Garmin App works well and easy to use, better than AutoVox app. Ive tried many dash cams and have installed several for friends and family, and this one is quite good.
