When the battery died, I was happy to replace the old Tile with a Tile Pro, which has replaceable batteries. Yay!
Unfortunately, the first week we had the new Tile on her, it got wet in her water bowl, and it started to malfunction. It was ringing my phone constantly, for no reason. I immediately dried it as best I could with a paper towel, removing the battery to dry the inside. Then it stopped working at all. I couldn't ring the Tile from my phone, and I couldn't ring my phone from the Tile.
Next, I dried it with a hair dryer and let it sit for awhile. I didn't mark the time it took, but eventually (probably a few hours) the Tile started functioning in both directions. I could use it to locate my phone and I could use my phone to locate the cat. Unfortunately, it randomly rang my phone for no reason again, which got very annoying after several days. It seemed the Tile was just too sensitive after having been wet. Just turning her head made it ring my phone.
This is where it got fun... I thought and thought about how to solve the problem. I ended up rubber banding her metal name tag to the Tile button, covering the button to keep it from being depressed (see picture). It worked! The random ringing stopped entirely. If I ever need to find my phone, I'll be able to access the button easily enough - but that's not the reason I have the Tile.
BUT... I worried about the Tile getting wet again when she drinks water. So... I adjusted the rubber bands by attaching the name tag and the Tile TO THE COLLAR. That way, the Tile doesn't dangle, but is instead held snug against her neck. The Tile no longer comes close to the water, much less dip into it. She doesn't seem bothered a bit that it's snug against her neck.
The Tile is now working perfectly, and I don't ever have to worry at all about it getting wet again!

Also works in reverse, if I misplace my keys, I just open Tile App on my phone and in 5 seconds my keychain w the Tile on it is ringing loudly. This device has saved me SO many times.
Bought one for my wife and mother as well and saves them too!!!
I have a specific purpose for using them, so my review reflects my specific needs.
I have a pair of Jabra bluetooth wireless earbuds. I love them for phone and working out. I have reviewed them in the appropriate section. The biggest problem is they sit in a small box. And, I am constantly misplacing them. I put them down and can never remember where I placed them.
The box is small and black and square and seems to blend in with everything. Easy to lose, hard to find.
So, I "glue" a tile to the case. I never lose my phone, and if I do, I call myself or use a computer and make it ring.
The Tile is an easy way to find the case. If I misplace my earbud, I make the Tile ring. What could be easier.
Well, several things.
1.) This is a big Tile. Larger than the case and it is thick. A lot of the design is an add on metal hook area and unnecessary chrome plastic cladding. Tile needs to make it thinner and smaller. It adds to the bulk.
2.) It is not always reliable. As others have noted, when it works, everything is great. But, it may not ring even when in close proximity.
3.) The range of proximity to find it is rather limited. When you look for the item Tile tries to find it. But, the Bluetooth find feature is not that large.
4.) After it "finds" the tile, the ring feature is not reliable. (I know, that is problem 2 but it really bugs me).
5.) The app wants to run in the background even after closed. It becomes a battery issue at times and I can't figure out why it sometimes stays open and sucks up power. I usually discover the issue when my battery has dropped in just a few hours. A run a battery optimizer and the issue is the Tile app.
The good things:
It is louder than the other tiles.
It does work as described.
The battery is replaceable, ( I have not done this).
It seems to be good for finding my earbuds.
It can be glued to the case and stays put.
So, final answer.
I like it. It's bulkier than the others. It is relatively reliable.
The best so far, but needs to be made slimmer and more reliable.
