Product Description

"SEGA proudly presents Yakuza Kiwami 2, one of the most beloved story lines in the franchise’s history, remade in full HD for the PlayStation 4.

One year after the 10 billion yen incident, Kazuma Kiryu begins to build a peaceful life with Haruka Sawamura. Tearing him away, an assassination threatens to erupt in an all-out war between the Tojo Clan and the Omi Alliance. Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima, must travel to Sotenbori, Osaka in an attempt to broker peace between the rival clans, but Ryuji Goda, known as the Dragon of Kansai, will stop at nothing to get his war. In this world, there can only be one dragon.

Game Features:

• Dragons Belong on the Dragon Engine - Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a re-creation of the original Yakuza 2, completely rebuilt in the Dragon Engine, the same engine used in developing Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, which means you'll be able to experience gorgeous graphics on top of enjoying seamless transitions (no loading screens!) between battles or when entering or leaving buildings. Voice lines and cutscenes have been re-recorded to be as true to the original as possible, while reaping the benefits of the most powerful engine the Yakuza series has ever seen.

• Big Hits, Mini Games - Kiryu hasn't let his time away from the front lines dull his skills in combat or leisure. Pull off a wide variety of brutal (and hilarious) Heat Actions, and challenge new mini-games such as Golf Bingo, the original arcade release of Virtual-On, the return of Yakuza 0’s much-celebrated Cabaret (including the return of fan-favorite Yuki!), Majima's revamped Clan Creator, and even SEGA's infamous Toylets!

• Unveil the Truth of Majima Goro - This time around, Kiryu isn't the only one running the show - fans of the Mad Dog of Shimano won't want to miss this new Majima-centric campaign, which features Majima as a playable character, complete with his trusty dagger, and sheds light on his personal journey from the end of Yakuza Kiwami up to Yakuza Kiwami 2.

• Extreme Localization – We’ve gone through the Yakuza Kiwami 2 script with a fine-toothed comb; every effort has been made to ensure that it's the most faithful representation of the original Japanese. SEGA is committed to supporting the best Yakuza experience possible for the series' dedicated fans around the world."

Yakuza Kiwami 2: Standard Edition - PlayStation 4

Description:

Yakuza 2 was released to the world in 2008 for PlayStation2, a sequel to the critically acclaimed Yakuza, following the journey of Kazuma Kiryu as he attempts to distance himself from the criminal underworld he was raised in. Ten years later, Yakuza Kiwami 2 brings that world to the PlayStation 4, completely rebuilt from the ground-up. In the tradition of 2017's Yakuza Kiwami, the envelope is pushed to the extreme, using the all-new Dragon Engine to update one of the series' stand-out titles into a modern classic.

Story:

Prologue:

Kazuma Kiryu thought his Tojo Clan days were behind him. He and his young ward, Haruka Sawamura, have built a peaceful life from the ashes of conflict. All it took was a single gunshot to shatter that peace. Yukio Terada, the fifth chairman of the Tojo Clan, has been assassinated. With war on the horizon, the legendary Dragon of Dojima is pulled back into the world he wanted to leave behind.

An All New Scenario Featuring Goro Majima:

Take control of Majima, the Mad Dog of Shimano, and discover the events that occurred between the end of Yakuza and the beginning of Yakuza 2.

Two Cities, Bustling With Life:

Step into the glitzy nightlife of Kamurocho, with its endless array of restaurants, bars, and activities, and journey west to Sotenbori, Osaka, Japan's other paradise of the night, newly recreated in the Dragon Engine to stunning effect.

Refined Dragon Engine Combat:

Introduced in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the Dragon Engine's combat comes to Yakuza Kiwami 2 with all-new improvements and upgrades worthy of the word "kiwami." From combo upgrades, to new charge attacks, to weapon storing, to new Heat Actions, beating down street thugs has never felt so satisfying.

Re-imagining of Yakuza 2
4 Stars
Re-imagining of Yakuza 2
First thing to note is this game is very cutscene heavy (especially in the beginning). Will not get into core gameplay until a few hours inThis game is complete re-imagining of the second Yakuza game from 2008 with updated modernized graphics and gameplay to make it more in tone with the latest entries in the series; Yakuza 0, Yakuza 5, and Yakuza kiwami (1).The story remains the same as the original, but the graphics has an overhaul. It's not a simple up-rez in graphics as character models and background has a complete re-work making it look like modern Yakuza games. There are additional cutscenes to make you more emotionally invested (especially the ending) compared to the original which had only freeze frame with text in some instances. There's Japanese dialogue with subs instead of English dubStory. Basically a political mafia/underground organized crime drama about friendship, family, trust, and betrayal. You play as Kazuma Kiryu with high influence in the Yakuza who left the clan to pursue a normal life. The Fifth Chairman, Yukio Terada is then assasinated and a Korean mafia invades forcing you to come back and save the city. If you missed or forgot the first game, there's a summery cutscene you can watch at the start of the game that keeps you up to date on what's happening leading up to this gameGameplay:Essentially a open world 3D beat-em-up.Unlike Yakuza kiwami 1 with the 4 fighting styles, this one is more simplified with just 1 fighting style. Also the Majima system where Kiryu to fight his rival Majima Goro at random times/points in the game is omittedThere's a nice upgrade system also and you select the ability, damage or health upgrades by gaining levels and doing side objectives. Core gameplay gets repetitive after a while, but the core leveling system is really addicting as you become more powerful. You are already an overpowered/well known icon in the city...sort of like John Wick, but with fists instead of guns. Also there are tons of mini-games scattered around the city. The first few chapters are pretty slow as there are tons of cutscenes. You don't get to explore the city until maybe a few hours in. There are no intro fetch quests like in the first game. After the opening chapters the game picks up and it's non-stop action unless you want to take a breather and do side quests and/or mini-games.Fighting and encountering enemies are seamless and load times are extremely fast compared to the originalOverall very good. Definitely the definitive version of the original Yakuza 2 and playing the old one feels very dated compared to this game. The game starts off slow, but picks up drastically after you get past the lengthy cutscenes. I say Yakuza 0 is the best one in the series in terms of gameplay, story and pacing followed by Yakuza 1. I recommend playing Yakuza 0 and 1 first before this one as you'll get more of an emotional investment seeing both games are prequel to this game
