Well I'll tell you whut ladies and gents this is a real solid, heavy duty dumbbell set. I love the fine, waxy black coating on the ends framing the shiny metal pole in between. I've seen some customers complaining saying that "they're too fragile" or "how heavy duty are they?" Well, they're so heavy, so cosmically sturdy, so metal that I fractured my right thumb with them! That's right, two world-shaking fractures! I tripped while carrying one in each hand and smashed my right thumb in between them. How clumsy! I'm right handed, so as you can imagine it's quite hard to do anything. Buttoning pants, writing, wiping, all a struggle. But I shouldn't be complaining because these dumbbells have taught me three important lessons:1.) Resourcefulness is necessary. Learn to write with both hands in case of emergencies. Don't wait like I did.2.) Health insurance is important. Always have it so if you exercise too hard it doesn't ruin your wallet!3.) Like Alfred said to Batman on his death bed, "With great power comes great responsibility." If you have this much power in your weak hands, be sure it doesn't cripple you.With the satisfaction of these dumbbells and valuable life lessons, I give this a product 5/5 Stars AND one crippled thumbs up! I can't wait to use them in a month when the finger heals!

Man I really love these dumbbells. I got a pair of 10lbs to do some laterals and renegade rows with to start out with and test the dumbbells out. I tried those exercises and they felt just right in my hands. They were comfortable to hold and the handle made it possible to add on a grip enhancer to get more of a forearm pump. For $20 for a pair this is a steal. I am going to get a pair of 15 lbs and also 20lbs, maybe a 25 lbs single so I can do more exercises.

I previously had a Bowflex SelectTech 552 pair of dumbbells and while I really liked those also, these do the job just as well and are not so dainty. You really had to be careful with how you treat the 552s. I don't throw my weights around but it's nice to know that if they slip or you do have to let them go they are not going to get damaged. Certain exercises like the Renegades are advised not to be done with the 552s. Those dumbbells can't take the pressure of your bodyweight. Also, if you are like me who is not looking to lift more than 35 lbs in one hand then these Cap Dumbells might be more cost effective and in a way space saving. Also you can switch from weight to weight easier than dialing up the weight. The 552s were bulky and took up space. The Caps are elegant and can be put against the wall horizontally to save some space. I put a small 6 lbs medicine ball on mine to save overall space.

If you want that old school feel for a very functional and some good looking dumbbells then you can't really go wrong with these.

I recently bought a pair of these to start building my non-adjustable DB collection. At first I was somewhat hesitant because of the low price. I wasn't really sure if they were going to be exactly what I was looking for. In all respects though, I was pleasantly surprised. They seem to be of excellent quality and I believe they will likely last many years to come. That is, as long as they don't get thrown around too much. While the rubber coating is a nice looking portion of these weights, I do feel like it could wear over time. Even still, that doesn't really matter because they'll still be just as functional. Based on this purchase I'll be looking forward to ordering the next weight up. If this is the style of DB you're looking for, you can scarcely go wrong with this purchase. One caveat to keep in mind, and this may be important to some; the handle is considered "ergonomic" and may not work as well for those that use grip enhancers such as Fat Gripz or products like that. The handles do already feel a little thicker than traditional weight types, so it may not matter anyway. Either way, I'm very happy with them and I'm glad I spent the money.

It's pretty amazing Amazon can deliver things like this in a couple of days for free and at this price point. The weights are the least expensive option for this padded configuration I could find. I can't speak to durability if you are going to work out to exhaustion and drop them but the ones I got are only 35 lb and I'm using them for regular curls and dumbbell exercises done on a hardwood floor, where I just put the weights down afterwards. These weights are perfect for that. The plating seems good, with no flaking and the rubber-like coating does not mar or scuff my wood floor, which is all I was looking for. The only slight negative was that I had to wash the weights with dish soap before use, as the smelled of grease or some other manufacturing byproduct. No big deal though, whatever it was was clear and easily rinsed off. Also, Amazon could package these a bit better, the boxes were just barely still boxes by delivery time but I didn't note any damage to the product. So, really great cheap dumbells; I'll buy these again if I need 45 lb in the future as there is no 40 offered.
