Hue Bloom.
4 Stars
Hue Bloom.
It advertises 16 million colors but it’s closer to 50. You can dim the brightness from 1-100% so I think this is where they get that. When I’m changing colors sometimes it stops responding. I am supposed to fix the Hub but I’m usually too tired and close the App.Please excuse my gross IKEA table that I’m painting this week 😂There’s an app you use to change color or schedule times you want it to come on or off. It’s not very bright so I was disappointed. You can’t read with just this on. I don’t think it’s worth the price. I would rather get the ones that interact with your TV. You have to get the Hue for it to do cool stuff. It’s supposed to work with Alexa but I haven’t figured it out yet. I’m prob not saying it correctly 🙄 There are apps that it’s supposed to interact with music. A lot of third party apps. Eh.You can also use pics of pretty colors to find that specific color in Scenes. You are also supposed to be able to program it to change color but I haven’t yet.PICS: size, blue color, white, pink, green, what the app looks like to pick a color (rainbow screen), examples of Scenes (so you can use a color), example of a pic from Scene, what color it used from the pic, what the App looks like when using Scenes (only purple shades).

So this thing has a metal body... I didn't expect that. It's good though because it doesn't have rubber feet or anything to grip the surface which it sits so the added weight helps keep it planted firmly.
Colors paired with my 4th Gen a4 hue color bulbs don't quite line up... But they are close. I would say it doesn't have as rich of a color palette as the 4th gen bulbs have so while the color is there it is more of a lighter version of what you have selected. Now I wouldn't say that is horrible because as an accent light it seems to get diluted a bit bouncing off the wall anyway. This also doesn't get very dim but again that should be alright depending on where you have it because it should be an accent light anyway. The light is pushed through that diffuser and spreads light in a wide beam which is why it makes such a great accent light.
Overall I suggest this light just don't expect anything crazy. It is just an accent light and it does that job very well. No lag. Seamless integration.

love this product and the whole Philips Hue line, I have three Hue light strips , and One of these lamps, they all work on my home wireless network, and are controlled and work with a free App from Philips for the Hue Led lights... really cool product and makes for a nice
relaxing and exciting home atmosphere... the first time you buy a Hue light , make sure to buy the kit, you get a light ( or two ) with a device ( an access-point ) for the lights that connects to your main internet (home-router) , this is what you need for the lights to work and to control them wireless through wi-fi , you can put them , ( the lights ) wherever you want, reflect against a wall to illuminate the room, or with the LED Hue Strips, you can put them under the couch, behind your furniture , behind your LED flat screen TV, and make it glow illuminate, cool effects, and you can make them all the same color, make them change color to music (with certain apps), or on the Hue app from Philips, they have different themes / scenes, where the lights are different colors according to the themes, like a Beach scene , has different colors to go with what you might see at the beach, they have a Blue Rain scene, with different shades of blue, like colored water... check out out... they work well, last for along time, and in my opinion, are very reasonable priced for what you get and the technology thats offered....

A friend had a few of these lights, and convinced me to buy a starter pack. I was hesitant at first, thinking color changing lights were just a gimmicky novelty, and that I'm way to cheap to buy expensive light bulbs.. well, suffice to say, after a few days with 4 bulbs, I realized that I could never go back to plain bulbs that only emit a single flavor of white light.. How barbaric! Now every fixture in my home has a Hue bulb in it. I have 30 regular A19 bulbs, 4 celing spot lights, 2 Blooms, and I added Hue lightstripping under all the cabinets in my kitchen. Now all of my lights adjust according to the time of day and whatever mood I'm in. I picked up several Echo Dots for each room in my house, so now I don't even ever have a need to touch a light switch....for instance - from anyplace in my house, I can say "Alexa, Turn kitchen lights on" or "Alexa, dim master bedroom lights 30%." I can also change the color of the light using standard CSS color names - - for instance, when I'm taking a peaceful bath, I just say "Alexa, make the bathroom lights crimson" and boom - I get a dark, relaxing color suitable for tubbing. I have motion detectors all over my house. When I get out of bed in the morning and start tripping detectors, it triggers all of the lights in my house to switch to "daylight white" and to fade up over 10 minutes time. I can honestly say that my mood is happier at night now that I'm not constantly exposed to an abundance of glaring white light produced by compact fluorescent bulbs. I understand that these bulbs can be expensive, but I promise that they're worth it. I've found that for me at least, it's been most, cost effective to purchase these bulbs as starter pack kits, which come with a hub and either 3 or 4 bulbs. I've noticed that the prices seem to often wildly fluctuate. Recently I saw them as low as $114 for a 3 pack, which was an awsome deal considering that buying just a single bulb by itself is around $50.
So, to sum up - I highly recommend you purchase a 3 pack Hue starter kit and just try it out for a few days... soon you too will want to replace all of your old-fashioned bulbs with Hues.

I have a growing collection of Hue lights so I added this one to my bar area. Works perfect, very inconspicuous, and casts the perfect amount of light. Didn't realize that it wasn't a full RGB light so it doesn't cast every color or temperature of light. I don't recommend this for a complex lighting setup. Perfect for some slight ambiance in an area that doesn't have room for light fixtures

this thing is MUCH smaller than i had imagined. the whole thing fits in the palm of your hand. that being said the light is great. nice range of color and fits in well behind stuff.it doesn't seem to be drown out by my other hue lights in the room. you can see in my attached photo a 3rd generation bulb in the light fixture over the door compared to the bloom on the right of the tv. the color range seems to be more in line with the 3rd generation bulbs, as the greens seem to be much richer than the second gen kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Product is great, Amazon's Two-Day Shipping.. not so much.
Reviewed in Canada on January 31, 2019
I finally received my Bloom almost a week of waiting even though I paid for Amazon's "Wonderful" Two-Day shipping. The Lamp itself is incredible, ensure that you buy a bridge beforehand so you can connect to it otherwise this lamp will only turn on and in a single color when you plug it in, a BRIDGE IS REQUIRED for using this properly and it allows you to setup the lighting properly if you have other bulbs or lamps.
The Lamp provides an incredible range of colors as well as features and it is relatively bright for ambience.

Not going to be recommending the Two-Day shipping anymore though.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little product: But be aware, there's a newer version with 4x the lumen.
Reviewed in Canada on March 3, 2021
The Bloom is in a bit of a weird position: Its probably the least bright product that Hue offers, with both the Go and the Iris offering much betting lighting. The Go has the advantage of being a portable light, but that means it also requires batteries.

Personally I like the Bloom: it can be utilized to create a nice ambiance, and the fairly traditional stand style of the light allows it to blend into a lot of modern decor (as long as its white). When it comes down to the amount of light, its very dependent on what Bloom you get. The older model Bloom only gave you around 120 lumens, with the Go being 300 lumens. The newer 2020 models? Go is 520 lumen, Bloom is 500 lumen, and the Iris offers 570 lumen. This fits in with Hue's recent refresh of brighter bulbs, and as you can see makes a drastic improvement of how much light this can put out.

The biggest issue for the Bloom has always been its had the weakest light of a Hue product: now its offering a touch more than 4x as much light as before. This means that if you're wanting to have this offer a splash of color, highlight a wall, or throw focus onto decor it's going to be far, far, FAR more capable. The wildcard I would say though: This hasn't been updated, and this listing may not correspond to their higher lumen new version. Verify the lumen on the product you're buying, and verify the lumen on the box to make sure you're getting the one you actually want.
