Outstanding Wireless Beats Solo3 headsets - Sound Quality, Build, Battery Life
I bought these headsets to replace a set of in ear headsets (Mpow) that just never quite were satisfactory for use at the gym and for general use. Never thought an over the ear product would work for me until I read the reviews on these Beats Solo 3 by Dr. Dre. So I had to try them. This is my initial unsolicited review after about a week. I have the matte black color, which sometimes Amazon varies in price to drive choice. I got mine at a good time, though- Cyber sales- so it was a very competitive price. What did I expect going in? Before I opened the box (quite a package, if you're into that sort of thing!) had good confidence that the bass sound quality would be outstanding from reputation of the Dr. Dre Beats brand. Rewarded in that regard and many other aspects as well.Besides that though, there is a wired connection cable, and a charging cable packed inside and all the 'foo-foo' packaging you might expect from Apple, just to mention accessories you might expect.I'm going to concentrate on what most people buy a headset for. So let's get on to the important stuff:• Sound quality. It's unlike and greater than 90% of the headsets I have used. As an audio engineer (my past life) I have used plenty. The size of the cups is not an unusual one if you wear a lot of headsets- just over the ear as opposed a full surround, found I prefer this style these days.• Great build quality/design of the ear cups. Fit well and very comfortable. I can easily wear for an hour at a time. After that, they begin to feel warm-ish (read I want to take them off for awhile). Most of my wear is inside the gym, haven't gone outside for a run with them, may be different impression.• Outstanding battery life. I got them at what appeared to be 100%, apparently they weren't though. On my iPhone (11 Pro) when I looked, the power read 50%. SO I thought to run them down to the ground. I put them on days later and it read 25%. Used further for a work out for 1.5 hours and still good (20%). Gave up and recharged 'em. I will report back on a running time after full charge.• Isolation. An over ear headphone has MUCH BETTER isolation from external sound by it's nature of the cups surrounding the ear. I my opinion these headsets DO NOT need further noise cancellation, with the possible exception of air travel. Further noise cancellation would likely affect sound quality. Have not tried the noise cancellation version which is MUCH more expensive. I have a pair of Sony noise cancelling over-the-ear type headsets for travel that do not sound as good as these but cancel plane noise VERY WELL. The thing is, they don't sound as good.• Controls and pairing to several devices. Bluetooth is flawless and fast to pair to new devices (admittedly all Apple). Controls on the headset (pause-play,volume up/down) are VERY responsive. I did find that going from one device paired to another always requires that the second pairing be connected at the device again. The headset want to stay paired to the original device until a new device is paired. Once you have that concept it's easy to switch between sources.• Microphone on a call sounds great to the caller and the caller sounds great in the headsets. I don't know where the mic is exactly but wherever, it works!Listening test. I'm listening to the headsets as I write this review. I enjoy music and my favorite sounds are nothing short of magnificent played on these headsets. My positives about that are fabulous bass (expected). My only criticism is the "mushy" highs. So I had to engage an equalizer to improve the highs for me. On Music app you can fool with the settings. I pictured what works for me and I admit to some hearing loss, so what it means to you is only that there is no actual reproduction of ultra low bass (<30-40Hz, I'm guessing) or ultrahigh frequencies (>12KHz), which I think is to be expected on these type headphones. What is there is fairly well flat but could use boosting (again for me) and tweaking in the mid-range high frequencies. I feel that resulted in a major improvement. In my case with known music as the source and still with a bit of bass coloration, I found a sweet spot, to EQ settings as shown in the picture.Review conclusion. An outstanding quality product! If there 4.75 stars I would give it that overall rating. Actual Rating. I'm taking off 1 star overall for less than perfect sound, likewise the bass quality because it was too overpowering out of the box and affected the frequency response. Apple knows something about audio and many folks will disagree with me. OK. My fix was minor on the computer source. However the fix for iDevices is not as easy, though I'm betting there is an app for that or soon will be because it's worth doing.I may just get that app and use it, because these headsets are a pleasure to wear and use.

5.0 out of 5 stars The headphones that are to be expected
Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2019
A lot of people always seem to nitpick about about the items that they purchase off of Amazon. They always talk about how the sound quality could have been better, they always somehow find a reason that they think it's good enough to complain about the comfortability. Here's what I think about the beats that I bought:

They are one of the best headphones a person can ask for. I do not understand why people tend to complain about the comfortability when they have cushions for your ears. That's what's really important when it comes to wearing headphones that goes over your head. The sound quality is exactly what you would expect from a popular company. The sound quality is amazing along with the different colors that you can buy. When I first bought my headphones I had a question mark over my head because it wasn't turning on, but that was only because it needed to be charged. And that is the beauty of Beats Solo 3, if your headphones is dead, you can also still play music with the wires, just simply plug it in your phone and in your Beats.
I do not know if it is just me because due to the fact that I lost my other pair of Beats it's been such a long time since I touched it let alone wear it, they do seem to feel fragile, all the more reason to place a warranty on an item that happens to feel fragile. Now the question that everybody seems to be asking is "is it true that it only takes about 5 minutes to charge the headphones completely, and is it true that the battery life last up to 40 hours." Well the answer depends on how much you use your headphones. There is 5 LED lights that indicates the percentage of your battery of the headphones. If the LED light is on the third light, that just means that you are at least 50 to 75% of battery life left so in other words, it would take a roughly 5 to 10 minutes to charge it which isn't bad. But ultimately it is pretty fast when it comes to charging headphones especially when it turns out to be Wireless. The volume button Works along with the pause and play button, the button that turns on the wireless headphones work. It even makes that musical noise when you are officially connected to your device, and it does it again when you turn it off. I am able to extend the headphones. I am able to fold them which is a definitely a must for me because when I am finished with my headphones for the day I usually fold them.

In conclusion, if something happens to your headphone such as a shortage on the right or left side of the headphones, if you have a warranty all you have to do is just call Apple and they should be able to fix it either call Apple or whatever warranty you are affiliated with. In addition, if you have a computer or a laptop you should download this beat app where you able to update the headphones, I will not go into details but you could always look it up on your spare time. With that being said I'm giving this product and five star and whoever purchase it in the future, I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy what you bought. Not to mention that this was on sale because originally it was $300. Now in the beginning of my review I was talking about how people tend to nitpick and and complain about things that can be easily fixed. And I was very serious about that, they are the ones who bought the item off of Amazon if something happens to that item it doesn't take as much to file a complain and get a refund and get your money back after you give them back what has been broken. Since a lot of people gave it a one-star, I had to double think about me buying this. But when I purchased it it turns out to be great just as I was expecting, no issues to the point where I would want a refund.

Oh and by the way, the true difference between Beats Solo 3 wireless and Studio 3 is that studio 3 have the ability to cancel out noise, solo 3 although you are able to increase your volume the point where you are not able to hear a single thing from the outside world, there is still a chance where despite your volume being all the way up the environment that is around you could be louder than your music. So it is not fully a noise cancellation headphones. But these headphones are beneficial for me because I'm not always in an environment that is loud enough to where I have to blast it up to 100.

And this is where my review ends
