Product Description
The Traxxas TRX-4 Scale and Trail Crawler is an all-new design with exciting new features, versatility, and capability. In other words, we built it the Traxxas way, rugged, powerful, and ready for fun! Underneath the authentic scale look is a machine built for extreme off-road capability that takes you to new places and new adventures. Exclusive solid portal axles combine with the steel ladder frame to deliver maximum ground clearance and virtually eliminate torque twist. Both front and rear differentials lock remotely to allow both sharp turning and maximum traction when you need it. A remotely operated high/low range transmission allows TRX-4 to be fast on the trail, while still having the torque and control to tackle a technical climb. Waterproof electronics allow you to run with confidence in the toughest conditions. Innovative new cruise control allows you to set your speed on the 2.4GHz TQi radio and adjust it from the Multi-Function knob to match your pace. Long-travel aluminum GTS shocks provide plenty of articulation and allow height adjustment with the threaded collars. A new waterproof 2075X metal gear servo provides turning grunt to the thick steel steering links. A dual-fit battery tray accommodates both full-size batteries and small 1/16 scale batteries for weight biasing (batteries sold separately). Extreme approach angles and 3.14" of ground clearance tackle the toughest technical climbs. The new highly-detailed scale Land Rover Defender body is as tough as it is good looking. Pick one up today and discover a whole new approach to scale crawlers.

Take the Path Less Traveled
The Traxxas TRX-4 Scale and Trail Crawler is an all-new Traxxas design that is loaded with innovation, exciting new features, versatility, and capability. In other words, we built it the Traxxas way, rugged, powerful, and ready for fun!
Underneath the authentic scale look is a machine built for extreme off-road capability that takes you to new places and new adventures. Innovative portal axles deliver maximum ground clearance that dramatically turns 'no way' into 'no problem.' Whether you are enjoying outdoor trails or getting technical on the rocks, the remote-locking front and rear differentials and high/low range transmission provide unmatched driving versatility.
Radically Innovative Technology and Precision Engineering

---|---|---|
The Power of Portal AxlesPortal axles lift the truck at the wheels for huge center pumpkin ground clearance. In order to achieve the same clearance with straight axles, your tires would have to be over an inch taller than the tires on the TRX-4. Gear reduction in the portal axles, rather than the differential, also virtually eliminates annoying torque twist that can shunt you right off the rocks. |
Remote Locking DifferentialsTraxxas allows you to lock and unlock both the front and rear differentials remotely from your transmitter. Unlock the differentials to negotiate a tight course without backing up or lock them for ultimate traction. New sleeved micro cables control the differential action for scale appearance, without limiting suspension articulation. |
High/Low Range TransmissionA two-speed transmission comes standard on the TRX-4, rather than an expensive option. When the going gets tough, shift into low range for incredible 4WD pulling torque. Shift into high range for blasting down the trail. The TRX-4 Scale and Trail Crawler adapts to any situation or driving style. |

Scale DetailsThe TRX-4 features a fully licensed and highly detailed Land Rover Defender body. Scale details abound from the detailed front grill and bumper to the functional spare tire in the back. Realistic lighting details, side mirrors, bumpers and even the included jack all add to the rugged and authentic appearance. |
New GTS Aluminum ShocksAll new oil-filled coil-over GTS shocks were created exclusively for the TRX-4 chassis to smooth out even the roughest trails. These silver-anodized aluminum shocks deliver silky-smooth damping and feature threaded bodies for easy ride height adjustment. The convincing scale realism looks great and they perform even better with an O-ring cap seal and dual X-ring shaft seals. |
Heavy Duty Steel Frame RailsA thick 1.5mm steel ladder frame with molded cross members provides exceptional torsional rigidity to resist even the worst chassis twisting articulation. This extremely rigid backbone lets the suspension do the work it was designed to do. You’ll feel the difference on trails where the elimination of chassis flex allows for precise wheel placement when navigating technical terrain. |

3S Power SystemThe new XL-5 HV electronic speed control brings 3S LiPo capability for stronger, more efficient running. The powerful 21T Titan motor provides torque to tackle the steepest climbs and all-out speed on flat terrain. This efficient system provides up to 2 hours of run time with a Traxxas 3S 5000mAh iD LiPo battery pack. |
Waterproof ElectronicsThe TRX-4 is ready to tackle your wildest adventures with waterproof technology pioneered by Traxxas. The XL-5 HV speed control, high torque metal-gear 2075 servo, and mini receiver are sealed against the elements giving you the freedom go places you might not have thought possible. It opens up a whole new world of adventure and fun. |

The added features of a 2 speed transmission and being able to lock out the front and back are really nice touches. While this is a brushed motor system, it is exceptionally smooth and quiet! Another hidden gem are those stock Canyon Trail tires. They perform very well for crawling.
With the tall and heavy Defender body, you well want to add some brass weights below the chassis to do more aggressive crawling.
My only gripe with this product is that I would have preferred clear windows. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with this rtr product!
Pros- this thing is tuff. Locking hubs with hi and low gear from the transmitter has been amazing and flawless. This truck has been so tuff. Decent speed too. I had purchased a 5000 3cell lipo and I easily get Between 1-2 hours out of a full charge.
Cons- only 1, steering service horn stripped on my first outing. I’ve read other reviews about that so I wasn’t shocked about it. It’s a 3-5$ part, no biggie. I got an aluminum one and I have beat the hell out of it with no failures since.

I moved the spare wheel to the bonnet and this improves performance on rocks as it's a little tail heavy out of the box. There are a lot of extras and hop ups to buy, I've added skid plates and nothing else, yet!
