And I Thought My 2nd Gen Echo Sounded Nice
I bought a refurb 2nd gen Echo and really enjoy the rich sound vs my kids Dots (2nd and 3rd gens ) and it was my introduction to the world of Echos, Smart Home, Skills, and Routines.I've tied the new (blue) one into everything my black (2nd gen) was doing and it only took about 5 minutes to get it hooked up and everything in my "cave" (the group in my den ) switched over via the Alexa app. The sound isn't incredibly better on the blue than the black but it is definitely better, especially in the lower bass notes. The color of the skin is also more pleasing to my eye though I still really like the black on black of the prior one. The white frame of the new one is a little sterile to me but where I have it located it's more heard than seen anyway.Another thing that will probably never be matter to me again is the blue one weighs about 1/3 less than the black one. The ergonomics difference between boxy edges and rounded edges is totally up to the individual but the rounder one makes it look more relaxed to the eye.If you have a second generation Echo this might not be worth the upgrade but to go from a Dot to a full sized Echo is most assuredly a good idea if the sound matters. The 3rd gen Echo Dot ain't half bad for its size but if bass is a must an Echo is in order. Looks changes isn't the only thing different between the 2nd and 3rd but there's nothing game changing between the 2.I'm glad I got this one but my black one will still get used.

Bought this unit to setup a stereo pair with a like echo I bought last year. Unit wasn't packed in an original box, but was wrapped like new and included the power cord. It looks like new and functions like new. It arrived configured for my account. When trying to add as a stereo pair I hit a roadblock. I stumbled across the fact that the firmware needed to be updated. Told Alexa to update and she started updating and informed me it could take 30 minutes. It took less than 2. After that it was no problem setting up the pair. Just seemed strange that the unit would be already configured to my account, but firmware not updated. I also discovered that it is best to have different wake words for the paired units. Songs would start out muffled and then the volume would increase to the set level. Need to mute one or change its wake word for flawless operation. I was pleasantly surprised by the stereo sound. Its a great addition for my office. I will be adding an echo sub soon.

We tried one, and it looked new and sounded great. Bought another a couple of days later. Within two weeks, we bought another and then another. I think we're done. Maybe. They're impressive. We live in a small house and have them grouped together (not physically but like members of a team). We can still use any single one at a time but we can also tell one to play music on the whole group and no matter where we are in the house, we get our music. That way we don't have to blast it in one room to hear it in another. If we DO want some volume, well having four helps there too. If we were going to only have one though, that would be fine too. For the price, the sound is plenty full. The app is very useful too. Would buy them again. I guess my only word of warning is that the price fluctuates pretty wildly. We got ours for between $55 and $60 but I've seen these refurbs for more.

Repackaged unit that appears to be in like-new condition. The sound quality is good and only perhaps slightly better than the Gen 1 Echo. I still like the analog volume ring on the Gen 1 version. Then again, this Gen 3 unit is less expensive. Unlike the reported Gen 4 mic pickup problems, the Gen 3 unit does a nice job of picking up commands. Build quality is very good and I like the cylinder shape better than the spherical shape of the Gen 4.

i ordered the echo dot because it was on sale and i loved my sister’s echo. however, as a music listener, the speakers in the dot were disappointing. i decided to order the refurbished echo 3rd gen because i read the older generations had great sound. i am very happy with this purchase, and i am so excited to listen to hours of music on my echo. the sound quality is much better than that of the echo dot. if you’re deciding between the echo and echo dot, go with the echo, especially if you love music. it might cost a little more, but i would say it’s worth the investment.

I’ve got four 2nd gen Echos and I love them. And I’m not a fan of the new round Echo. The 2nd gen was out of stock so I picked up this 3rd gen. I’m just not impressed. The sound quality isn’t bad, but side by side with a 2nd gen. I think the 2nd gen is better. Plus the 3rd gen has a fatter, rounder look to it. Just not as sleek and modern looking as the 2nd gen. As far as it being a refurb, no issues there at all.

I have several Echos and wanted to add an additional pair to expand music to another room and to create a stereo pair in another. The sandstone color gen 3 Echos were out of stock, so I decided to take a chance and order two certified refurbished units. They arrived in pristine condition, both with AC adapter cords and the little blue setup guide. Following the instructions, I plugged in and connected them to my network. One unit did not connect the first time but did on the second try. The other unit connected right away. This quirkiness in connecting is not uncommon even in new units. Both are working fine and I would buy them again. I am very satisfied.

I bought this for only 1 reason: I wanted a speaker with sound clear enough to fill a small apartment living room. It sits on my kitchen counter and it is so clear and the bass is so good. It does remind me not so much of a Bose, but more like something similar, like Boston Acoustics. It more than fills the room.

Setup was seamless with the Alexa App. Alexa is fairly responsive and I'm surprised the Mic can hear me over the music, but it does pick up my voice well. I can tell the difference between this and a Cambridge Soundworks speaker of similar size.

I got mine refurbished, but you wouldn't know it. It looked perfect: packaging and product in new condition.

VERY happy with the product.
