Product Description
Celestron’s award-winning Nature DX binoculars gets a major upgrade with the addition of premium ED objective lenses. Celestron’s high-quality ED glass delivers visibly brighter, sharper images compared to non-ED binoculars. The difference is especially noticeable in low light conditions, such as at dawn or dusk. Nature DX ED features fully multi-coated optics.
The Nature DX ED is a great birdwatching binocular. Its fully multi-coated optics and BaK-4 prisms will maximize light transmission, resulting in remarkably bright, highly detailed image quality, and the ED objective lenses will further enhance these features, especially in dim light conditions. ED glass also helps you spot insects and plants at a close focus of just 8.2 feet. These premium binoculars together are suitable for eyeglass wearers and include a protective padded nylon case for easy storage and portability.
Our Nature DX ED 12x50 model offers 12x magnification power. Despite its higher magnification, Nature DX ED 12x50 maintains a close focus of just 8.2 feet.
Aim for quality sport optics and get your binoculars from Celestron, the world’s #1 leading telescope brand in the USA. Nearly 70 years on the market!

When I ordered, they we’re out of stock and expected in two weeks. To my surprise, they arrived from Amazon within a week.
My first impression out of the box was that they felt like good quality equipment. I proceeded to the backyard with both the Celestron and my trusty Monarchs for a quick view and comparison. I was very pleased. The Celestron 12x50 ED’s were every bit as sharp and crisp as my more expensive monarchs (8x42), with good eye relief and smooth easy focus. Colors seemed slightly deeper through the Nikons (greens in particular), but it’s very close and could be due to the Celestron’s larger objective, where by a slightly brighter image may have drown some tint of deeper color to my perception, as later in the day I found that initial impression more difficult to verify.
I found target acquisition slightly more difficult with the 12x magnification’s smaller field of view, but I expected that. If I could only have one pair, I’d stick with 8x for their versatility. On a tripod the 12x Celestron’s work beautifully for cellphone photography.
I also plan to use these to stargaze via a tripod. I haven’t done that yet, but I have used them freehand. At 12x they are shakey as to be expected, but they do soak up some starlight. I expect them to provide some wonderful views when properly mounted.
This may be owed to the extra-low dispersion objective lenses, however glare is minimal even when aiming the objective lenses towards the direction of the sun; color distortion is also maintained well in these optics.
The only “con” I find can find with these optics is they suffer from slight pincushion distortion that presents at the corners of the FOV - but this is something minor that likely will not effect most users’ overall experience, and a flaw that can be overlooked at this price.
I would highly recommend this pair of optics for beginner and avid nature observers alike.
The not so good: The ED glass does reduce chromatic aberration a bit, but everywhere except the very middle of the image still has some green / magenta fringing. There is some internal reflection / glare when looking at bright objects. The focusing mechanism is a bit "soft" in the middle (this isn't too bad if it stays as it is, but I have a feeling it might get worse over time). The nylon carrying case is so-so and the neck strap is terrible.
The image is very sharp with very little fringe.
Good price for quality optics, unfortunately the build quality takes a small hit. The eye relief is glued on and if overworked will come off. The unit is heavy so consider using a shoulder harness instead of the included neck strap.
