I picked these up a few weeks ago and have been using them almost every day now so I have a pretty good feel on them.

I'll start off with build quality. Build quality is very solid here. The milled metal feels smooth and looks great. The MMCX connectors snap in well and don't feel loose. They have a bit of weight to them, but don't feel heavy at all in use. I'm quite pleased with the build quality here.

Next is how they fit. These are on the smaller side of IEMs and I find them to be extremely comfortable. I have medium sized ears and they sit flush inside my ear and don't stick out. I've had issues with other IEMs where I could only wear them for 20 minutes or so before I had to take them out and readjust them. Not with these. I can wear them for hours with no problem. They come with a good selection of tips. I use the medium, single tips as they fit the best in my ear. They also include double flange and deep insertion tips for those who want them. I couldn't get those to fit well in my ears sadly, so I can't comment on those too much.

Isolation is quite good on these. You do have chunks of metal in your ears after all. It's not as good as quality ANC, but as far as passive isolation goes, it's solid.

So how do they sound? I'll skip the weird audiophile terms and just describe them as solid all arounders. They don't excel in any particular area, but don't fall behind in any area either. These aren't aggressive or bright so if you want to just let the music fade into the background, you can do that with these. They aren't super laid back either, so if you want to focus on the details, you can do that too. That's why I'm calling these all arounders.

At first I ran them straight out of my phone and they sounded alright. Nothing exceptional, but nothing horrible. Just alright. Then I ran them out of my FiiO BTR5 and that's when they came alive. The sound was deeper and not as thin as just my phone was. I'd recommend at least a good phone dongle if not a dedicated amp/dac like the BTR5 for these. You can certainly run them out of just your phone if that's what you want, but don't expect anything amazing.

So basically if you want a fast, aggressive, in-your-face sound, you might want to look elsewhere. Same if you want a really laid back sound. But if you want something that can do it all quite well at a decent price point, these might be what you're looking for. Personally that's what I was looking for and so I'm keeping these.

After a week of listening to these, Meze RAI Solo iem's, I am growing to like them very much. At first, I wasn't sure about the sound I was hearing from them. I listen to CD quality, (16bit 1441kHz) with occasional HiRes, recordings for the most part. These RAI Solo's sound fantastic with well mastered recordings. But, as most know, not all recordings are mastered well, and when you listen to one of those, the RAI Solo's will let you know, right away, that you're listening to subpar audio. Which, I would think, is what any decent pair of headphones, regardless of style, would present.
So, yeah, I really like these iem's . I'm keeping them, and only replacing the stock cables with a set of balanced cables for use with a DAP.

Firstly, these headphones are beautifully built. They look and feel like $1K plus earphones. Even the travel case that comes with them is of very high quality. The sound is not "audiophile quality" because these have a V-shaped acoustic profile, with pronounced bass. The bass is not boomy or annoying, but it is emphasized. This can usually be corrected if your phone or DAP has an equalizer function. Speaking of phones, these earphones are the most efficient ones I have used or owned and can easily be driven by most smart phones or small DAP's such as the Fiio M3K or M6. Finally, they are quite comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and also block more ambient noise than my other earphones, so they would be great for travel on subways, buses or airplanes. I think all but the most demanding audiophiles will love these earphones and they will probably have to spend a good deal more to better them.

Really good monitors that will reveal their true potential only if you have the patience to carry on through the burn-in period. Just hook them up to a signal for at least 72 hours and don’t try to form an opinion too soon.

Airy top end, good mids and well defined bass presentation, which by the way I didn’t find as being enhanced like other reviewers. Quality materials and attention to detail, useful large enough pouch for carrying the monitors, Dragonfly Cobalt and adapter cable for iPhone. They really fit comfortably in my ears with the smallest cups provided and isolate environment noise to enhance music listening.

Highly recommended

I purchased a refurbished pair and used them on and off for a few months.

They look great, even for a refurbished pair. I do like to use them when I'm out since they do grab some people's attention.

I knew that they were a more bass heavy pair of IEMs before purchasing, but they were more bass heavy than I expected. Nothing that an equalizer can fix though. However, I do have to turn the sub bass and bass frequencies down by a lot to get closer to a more enjoyable amount of bass when compared to the mids and the treble. Even after adjusting my EQ settings, there still is a lot of bass

None of the included ear tips are a good fit for me, but they do a good enough job on creating a seal of some kind. The housing and everything else about these IEMs do fit very well.

Overall, a bit of buyers remorse regarding the sound, but love the looks and can replace the ear tips to try and get a better seal.

These require a long breakin period to bring out the true sound.
Did I mention breakin ?
They sound great after that , I would stick with over the ears headphones!

To start I've never owned anything by Meze but I wanted to give them a try. I'm no audiophile just a guy that likes most genres of music and enjoys listening to it. To me these iem's sound thin with not a lot of detail. Meze skimped on the cable because it's thin and I feel if it gets snagged on anything it will break.I could buy a better cable but at $200 I think the Meze Rai's should already come with a quality cable. I own the Whizzer Kylin HE10B and to me they just sound better. Drums and guitars sound alive and vocals are crisp and clear and the cable is better also. I wouldn't recomend the Meze Rai Solo to anyone really.

3.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get them to stay in my ears.
Reviewed in Canada on September 13, 2021
Some time ago, I bought the Meze 99 Classics which have become my main listening headphones. I have upgraded the cable originally provided with the Meze Audio 99 cable. For situations which require a more portable solution, I bought the Meze 12 Classics. Both of these provide great sound and are very comfortable to wear when I listen to music.

I therefore thought that the Meze Rai Solo would be an improvement on the 12 Classics, and the sound of the Rai Solos is impressive but... I could not get them to stay in my ears. I varied the rubber ear pieces. I sat still. I moved slower. I fidgeted with the over ear wires. Nothing I did would keep them in place.
Finally, I decided they were more bother that I am prepared to put up with. So, I have returned them. Too bad!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow the sound quality
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 23, 2021
I've fancied getting a pair of these Meze IEM for a while and I'm glad I did. The sound quality is really good and very clear. I've not had anything like this before. Worth the money. Comfort wise, these IEM aren't really for working out or even laying down. As they will come out of position. That said, I can live with that as I have other ear phones for working out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Organiche, belle ritagliatevi un posto nella collezione
Reviewed in Italy on June 8, 2021
