I bought this TV to use as a set piece for a video recording studio and it ended up being better than I expected. The blacks are of course not as good as on my OLED, but they are actually pretty good. It calibrates well, doubles as a fantastic monitor and the speakers are phenomenal for a TV. It is also very fast - switching inputs and activating AirPlay from my tablet is snappy. The built-in apps (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, AppleTV and YouTube) are flawless and function just as they do on my standalone AppleTVs.Now that I’ve experienced watching TV at this size, it’s really hard to go back to watching on a 65”. The 86” form factor starts to feel like a theater experience.Bonus points for the built-in slideshow of framed famous paintings. Such a simple thing adds more value than I would have thought. LG: let us adjust how long the pictures display for!NOTE: if you want to get “inkier” blacks, take advantage of the contrast illusion and use bias lighting behind the TV. See the picture for an example of what this looks like. This TV is white balanced (like almost all others) at a D65 white point. So you’ll want to use high quality LED lighting with a CCT of 6500K. Stay away from the cheap RGB kits, you *really* need to use 6500K white. I am using the MediaLight Mk2 6-meter kit that runs right off the TV’s USB port and turns on and off automatically with the TV. It’s the best $99 I could possibly spend to improve a $2800 TV.

Reviewed in Canada on November 30, 2020
Okay so I have been looking all over the web and local retailers stores for a TV for my Xbox Series X. I was debating on getting an LG CX OLED at first, but then I told myself. No because that is a bit to expensive for my taste. Then it was a Sony 900H, and after reading some reviews on Amazon about it. I decided not to go that rout. Then I came across the LG NanoCell Nano90. And I thought to my self I could afford that if I saved up. So that’s what I did. I’m my opinion the TV is perfect. It supports all of the HDMI 2.1 features that you need for the Xbox Seres X and PlayStation 5. Like VRR,ALLM, Dolby Vision&Atmos. 4K @ 120Hz refresh rate. It has 2 HDMI 2.1 and 2 HDMI 2.0 ports on the back of the TV. HDMI 3 and 4 have the 4@120Hz. This a very good High end TV, with a high price tag. But it’s worth it. My self the picture it absolutely stunning. I did have to calibrate it a bit to my Xbox series X, but other than that it’s perfect. If anyone out there is looking for a high end tv that has supreme quality. Then this is the TV for you. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking at getting it for the Xbox series X and or PlayStation five. And on another note, people will tell you, stay away from NanoCells for gaming, I’m telling you rate now I’m going to have to disagree on that. I personally thing that NanoCells are perfect for gaming. People have told me don’t get a NanoCell get an LG CX OLED because to a lot of people out there. They think that OLED’s are the king of gaming. But that’s not necessarily true, it really all depends on how you look at it. And what the viewer prefers to watch. The only major deference between the NanoCell and the LG CX OLED, is one TV Is lit by a backlight, and the other has self lit individual pixels. Pros and cons to a NanoCell is it cannot produce deeper true blacks, and it has a backlight opposed to the LG CX OLED. Witch in my personally opinion. I don’t see the NanoCell having a back light being a con. Now where the NanoCell becomes better in terms of colour quality comes into affect is the LG NanoCell. The LG NanoCell has NanoCell technology, which gives it the ability to produce true and more accurate colour’s, as opposed to the LG CX OLED. With a price tag of 1700$ CAD, coming from someone who ownes the TV I would highly recommend it.
